@Ginger The British accent is meant to be how people from England speak
@mateolopez9172
@mateolopez9172 5 жыл бұрын
@Ginger But that don't work, cuz saying that something is British means it's from the UK 🇬🇧 - a country You're saying "South American (a whole continent) accent", which doesn't make sense, as there are 9 Spanish speaking countries - each country has a different variant of the language
@dannhymir9678
@dannhymir9678 5 жыл бұрын
@Ginger That may have been more true 200 years ago. Today the various "countries" within the UK are treated as one by most countries and international and political bodies and organizations. No one recognizes Argentina and Brazil (and other South American countries) as one country (also they're 2 entirely separate languages Spanish and Portuguese and within countries there are regional accents). Now I do agree that each region in the UK has a very distinct accent, but aside from Scottish, most modern British accents sound similar with ever so slight variants. I do think just as Joahnna went into subAmerican accents, there could be an entire video about UK accents. The potential is rich with that subject.

@@thetongueofangels1882 some diphthongs are pronounced differently and some random words as well. The way they say "out", " about", "house", " sorry", "bike" is way different than American English, and that's normally how I spot them, but I guess all depends on the region and probably in some regions they speak "standard" American.

Once I heard a scottish guy talking and I had no idea you guys talk like that, I thought I was losing my english skills cause I didn;t understand a single thing, plus he was talking too much and fast, I was worried about it, till I met this american guy who said the same thing about the same guy, lol, hilarious and relaxing at the same time. From there I knew how diferent was the scottish accent from the rest. It's a whole another language.

2:50 I already heard some videos of girls speaking like that (and Joanna it's not even exaggerating, some Australians girls creep the hell out of me).... I think they want to sound posh or something... but end sounding like they have a speech impediment it's so so strange. It makes a guy runway or try to give them a glass of water with lemon.

@friendlyneighbourhoodbridg1354
@friendlyneighbourhoodbridg1354 4 жыл бұрын
jestes7 generally not really. Tbh most Australians don’t really think about Kiwis, and we generally don’t get offended if you ask if we’re from NZ or say that you can’t tell the difference - Hell, even I have to listen closely sometimes because some of the accents from the older generations sound quite Kiwi. Kiwis don’t bother us and we tend to get on quite well together (there’s even friendly debates/disputes over who actually invented the pavlova and flat white - both countries claim to have invented it, but nobody really knows for sure) and let me tell you our government could learn a thing or two from New Zealand 😂 there may be a few jokes hurled at them from Australia but it’s all in good fun from our end. Most Australians would probably think of New Zealand as the little sibling who’s annoying simply because they’re doing key things better than us

@VFM #7634 I'll admit that, especially with some of the older people, sometimes it's really difficult for even me to tell Australian and Kiwi accents apart - the suburban and city accents have changed quite a bit over the last few decades and have lost a lot of their nasality, but a lot of older Australians still have a very nasally accent that sounds more kiwi. It's quite easy to tell Southern English imho, even from a "posh" Australian accent - even our poshest accents are more vowel-centric than most Southern English accents, and we tend to use the American "d" sound when pronouncing words with a double t like "letter" sounding a little more like "ladder"
