The fact that there is already an excessive amount of demand awaiting its absorption, despite how everyone is frightened and calling the crash, is another reason why it is less likely to occur that way. 2008 saw no one, at least not the broad public, making this forecast, as I'll explain below. The ownership rate was noted to have peaked in 2004 in the other comment. Having previously peaked in the second quarter of 2020, we are currently at the median level. Between 2008 and 2012, it dropped by 3%, and by the second quarter of 2020, it had dropped from 68 to 65.

Agreed the role of advisors can only be overlooked, but not denied. I remember in early 2020, during covid-outbreak, my portfolio worth around $300k took a slight fall, apparently due to the pandemic crash, at once I consulted an advisor in order to avoid panic-selling. As of today, my account has yielded big fat yields, and leverages on 7-figure, only cos I delegate my excesses right.

I mean, it doesn't matter at this point. If a person has no job, they take anything to survive with family/roommates. Unfortunately, it is becoming very common to work at least two jobs right now. Full time and a part time for around 12~ hours a day, 6-7 days a week.

Great thoughts! The year is almost over and very glad about the decisions I have made so far. Investing in the market earlier this year regardless of the market conditions has saved my life. I made over 70k USD with a start of 25k in the last 7 months. I know it's nothing compared to what others make but I'm glad I'm changing my finances. If things keep going well I might retire soon>.

If you subtract the striking workes and government workers, the number is 87,000. That will most likely be revised down next month. The striking workers and government workers are guaranteed, correct numbers, so any revision will be subtracted from that 87k.

When you have a dollar that loses 8.8% of its value every year of course its going to cost you more for everything, smart people put some of their wealth into hard assets like real estate, gold, silver and art because it protects what wealth they have left, if you leave it all in cash, how much value are you going to have when you retire ? If anything indicated our economies dysfunctionality, it was the shear magnitude of the stock buybacks over the years fueled by cheap fed money. Must be a lack of vision at the top as this money should have gone to infrastructure and capital procurement to increase productivity and the creation of new markets.

5 year treasury bond price down to 4.24%. That is down from high of 4.94% in October. Inflation is down. Now interest rates are coming down. Peter should tell the viewers all the significant facts.

Gold price was $1,828.50 per ounce back on 01 Aug 2011. It closed this past Friday, 08 Dec 2023 at $2,020.80 per ounce. That is just under a 10.52% total price increase over a span of nearly 12 1/2 years later. Gold is definitely not a buy and hold long-term investment that should be heavily weighted in a portfolio.

That is because you selectively chose to start from the peak of 2011. From the year 2000 or 1971 gold outperformed the S&P500.

The last 20 years of debt monetization and exploded national debt deficits from 4T to 33T showing a tell gold has exploded from 300 oz to 2000 / oz. There is nothing to see but a 600 percent increase in gold. 😂

I don't get one thing. Everybody is always "Gold goes up because US economy is burning, debt is skyrocketing ..." But no one sees further than to US borders. What about India which holds same ammount of gold among citizens as US and where holding gold as a households' reserve is more popular than everywhere else. And they buy and buy. And what about rest of the world, citizens, speculators, other central banks? So when analysts look at it with this US centrict view, they see only part of the big picture. IMHO it is inacurate to say "gold broke the record because US debt went up trillion in one quarter of the year." It is true US is hegemon and affects whole world, but there are other factors.

I disagree that health care jobs are not productive jobs. I would think that any legitimate service job that was actually necessary would be as good as any widget that would be produced. A lot of food service jobs, yeah, I kind of wonder about their real value.

Healthcare is a necessary job, but it's like a mechanics job or a plumbers job. We need that. But what Peter is saying is that we need the ability to MAKE the tools, products and materials and the machinery in this country to service those jobs. You know the physical materials that service workers need.

Chronic care jobs make up 75% of health care in the USA. It's designed that way because it's very profitable for Big Pharma. That part of health care doesn't add value. You could argue that it subtracts value by never solving the chronic problem. Conversely, emergency/trama surgery and one off solutions like hip/knee and limb replacements add value because it solves the problem.

You can disagree, but when all is said and done healthcare does not produce anything. Power plants, refineries, factories...those are all far more important than healthcare. Healthcare can even be considered a net negative due to increasing longevity of retired persons who are only pulling out of the economy. The main benefit of healthcare to the economy is reducing child mortality rates, and maybe keeping workers age 40-65 functional.
