GaryMoore is one of the best of the best of the best. I’m sure glad my statement about Gary received so many comments. We all have to face it every guitar player at Gary’s level of playing is Great. There is an Gary’s album cover where he is a young boy playing the guitar listening to Hendrix and on the other side Gary becomes a guitar player like Hendrix or something like that. I saw all of them live and I played guitar and bass for many years in many bands so this is coming from an old timer who saw Hendrix, Gary Moore, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, and all the rest of the big name guitarist live on stage.

Gary was an absolutely one of a kind. There will probably never be anyone with his unique style and melodic genius abilities.

Thank you Joe Bonamassa for saying how brilliant musician was Gary Moore, definitely one of the best... If Gary is alive, it would be such a pleasure to see you two amazing musicians and guitarists together on stage... God bless you all..

You could almost say that when playing the blues, Gary had one foot in "melodic/old-school metal." Furthermore, not enough is said about Gary Moore's singing talent; he had a really great voice. Gary Moore was a "Les Paul wielding" nightingale, who could out "blues shred" the devil!

The likes of Gary Moore come around every 300 years or so, he was a incredible versatile talent, his blues for Peter Green album just proved how tasteful his playing could be, he could morph into most style's with ease, and his provenance with huge name's just proves he was as great as it gets....

I saw Gary Moore play with Thin Lizzy at the Sydney Myer music Bowl in Melbourne Australia in 1978 and to this day is still one of my all time unforgettable gigs I've seen, absolutely right up there. ☆

Not to disagree with you Joe, but Gary was far, far more than just wonderful, he was a force of nature with a technique as difficult to follow as any of the great, great guitarists of the last 50 years of the 20th century.

Gary & Rory were both Irish and both very humble guys. Rory played some raucous blues too but he also did his steel guitar folky thing. Gary could play anything on guitar. Jazz, classical, neoclassical but he just loved playing intense blues rock.

I met Gary Moore in the early 80s at the Detroit Airport when I was in the military headed back from leave. We took a Polaroid picture and he signed it to. Good 👍 guy and great rocker. RIP

Strangely Gary Moore plays intense, rough and raw solos and yet he also play melodious lick, PAriessien Walkway for example.

FOLKS - it is 90% the guitarist, 10% the guitar that makes the sound. As a guy who has played for over 40 years and owned all the great guitars at one time or another, I can tell you that its the guitarist's ability that makes most of the difference. Great guitars add a little bit more, maybe sustain or particular tonal balance, but mostly its what happened between fingers, pick and strings that counts. Rory had a unique style that would have been his on any guitar.

Gary, like Jeff Beck, and a select few others, was a Guitarist's Guitarist. His tone, touch, dexterity, and most importantly feel and soul were a thing to behold. Joe does Gary a disservice here by saying Gary only had one setting/speed...which is nonsense. What made him SO great, and perhaps unique, was his ability to switch from Peter Green esque beautiful melodic moments, to absolutely ferocious speedy outbursts, all within the space of a couple of bars. Normally, (Hello Yngwie!), guitarists with great technique tend to want to show it off ALL the time. Gary was nothing like this. It's also commented on that half an hour solo's are hard to listen to. True in 99.9% of cases...but in Gary's...not so! When he solo'd time seemed to stand still, and he would NEVER get boring. He was THE man!

Robin Trower is more rock than blues but he is pretty exceptional as well..

Jeff Healey and Gary Moore were the best imo. In their own league above the rest. Blues chops with sophisticated melodic phrasing at the highest level. It just flowed effortlessly.

Gary was the real deal bar none. Had the ultimate control from the slightest touch of the strings to full out in a moments notice. In one song not sure have seen that kind of control from other artists very much.

Gary Moore soloed with more intensity, emotion than anyone at the time. Then srv got big because he to played with such an intense passion he drew you in to the moment. If you have watched as many srv concert videos as often as I have you'll notice when Stevie realizes he's repeating himself the emotion in his face leaves and he then starts looking at the band to either end or let's go to a verse.if you saw Gary Moore at the fender 50th anniversary show and saw Gary at the end of the show play red house by Hendrix he played with such intensity, emotion for so long and it never got boring. The way he worked the volume on that red strat changing the tone by his picking technique was masterful.joe b. doesn't play the same style as Gary. Joe Bonomassa style is more technical influenced like Eric Johnson in his phrasing and scale positions that he uses. Nonetheless Joe bonomassa is an exciting player,intense just different than Gary and srv .Joe bonomassa is the future of blues rock in the world right now. The way he sold out all those venues in Europe in that short of time says something about his mass appeal .God bless Europe for supporting him America has its musical head so far up its back side I don't believe a record company would even sign a blues artist. Joe Bonomassa has made his own way in this muck of a music business. Check out the BCC live over Europe that Joe and Glenn did.fantastic. trying to keep classic rock alive as well. Keep it up Joe!
