A day and a night at The Tent. Checking the deer stands. Taking a look at Dad's wrecked 4wheeler. Getting the firewood loaded onto the front porch. Tent cooking.

Joe: I sure wish we would have started a journal like yours when we built our camp in 1989. My buddy has a camp started by his dad and several other friends shortly after WWII in the north woods of Pennsylvania. Whenever we would go up there as young men I would always entertain myself over several nights by reading their journals. Some of the entries were very colorful. Lists of the guys who made it to camp for trout season, grouse hunting, turkey, bear and deer. New hunters, old hunters, card game winners and losers, special recipes, great meals, good booze and bad booze. Dirty ice and hangovers. Getting lost in the flats on top of the mountain. Special places to hunt and deer stands that always produced the biggest buck. Who caught how many fish, who bagged the big buck and won the buck pool or who got skunked. Almost all of the entries in their journals ended with: “And a good time was had by all.” However, some of the entries were kind of sad. Over the years some of the guys moved away, and jobs or distance kept them from coming back to camp. And, as the years caught up the the original members of the camp, some just couldn’t make it into camp due to poor health or an inability to travel. The saddest entries were those about the guys who had passed away over the past year. Journal entries reminisced about what a great guy Joe was, or how hard a hunter Stosh or Paul had been. Finally, the last original member died and his family memorialized him and his hunting exploits in the journal. Fortunately the descendants of the first guys in camp have kept up the tradition of hunting and fishing camp. The building is on state forest land and the 99 year lease runs out in 2046. The cabin roof has been repaired many times, replaced at least two that I know of. The porcupines have chewed away the porch posts and the old wood shiplap outhouse has been reborn with heat and a light in it. In the next 26 years I only hope the new guys have as many good times as in the old days and that “a good time is always had by all...!” Cheers! Whipple

Since I've became a lover of pork steak, camp fire cooking, johnny's seasonings. But the tent brings back many memories of summer trips to Northern Wisconsin with my dad. We didn't stay in a tent, always rented a cabin, sometimes we might have been better off in a tent. LoL Anyways, thanks buddy!

@@SuperSlappy25 In this last video you may have caught him taking butter out of a jar for his potato (aka "canned"). Joe did a video on it awhile back. He took several pounds of store bought butter & boiled it down. A process that in the end, can be put in jars & is shelf stable for a few years (depending on where/how it's stored). It's great for the tent (we know how he loves his butter in his veg & potatoes)!!

I really really hope the person who crashed your dads 4 wheeler replaces it for him and they can keep his old one because no matter how much money you put into that machine it will never ride right, once the frame is bent that much in the rear it’s only a matter of time before the driveshaft u joints and rear differential start breaking parts because that machine will never drive straight and true no matter the amount of money you dump into it, I hope they have the respect for your old man to do what is right and replace that for him and NOT repair it , thanks for another great video joe

Big fan of all your videos and channels. Every time I see you struggle to bring wood into the tent, opening both those doors, I thought I might come up with an easier solution. What about putting a hinged window, outside, right above where your wood storage bin is inside? Put the wood through the window, rather than opening two doors. Ideally, on the front porch, you’d switch where the grill and the covered wood storage is. You’d have to find a different place to hang your coats, but that’s no big deal. ❤️
