Great video. Any point mentioning SPAN and comparing tonal balance to for example on 4,5 slope? Also plugins used for for tonal balance such as TEOTE? All great tools for beginners and playing with tonal balance of individual instruments but also master track

Hi...quick question. I usually mix commercial music and live orchestral tracks are new to me. I've finished mixing a cue that i am happy with, but the mastering part of it seems to escape me. I've tried many tricks, and the original mix always seems best to me...is there such a thing as mastering for film music, or is the mix usually the final?

Hey! As far as I know there's no mastering per se, basically once it's mixed, that goes to the dubbing stage where the dubbing mixer will blend the Foley, music, effects etc. Now if you're trying to release a soundtrack on streaming platforms or the like, it has to be mastered.

Thanks! Always enjoy your perspective. Mixing the strings like dubstep actually sounded exactly like Xtrullor, which makes sense (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qa12Z9B5mbPJdKM.html).

Haaa interesting! I think this track is probably a bit too scooped with a sub a bit too big though (even for dubstep). But yeah strings in EDM tend to not sound realistic

Good Video, thanks! Man, your mix is much better then the raw mix..but how can the raw sounds soo radio?? I mean, even the piece is raw, it shouldnt sound like that.

Hey! Did I say raw mix at one point? My bad, it's the composer's mix so my guess is that too much high mids were boosted. Raw should probably be a little flatter.
