LOVE THE COMEDY! Just have to clarify one thing in this video that struck a wrong chord ... "nothing intrinsically wrong with cigarettes" is dead wrong ... I'm certain you meant tobacco leaves and with that I'd agree of course. The cigarette though has been admitted by big tobacco companies to be an "effective delivery system for nicotine" in their "business of addiction". They've spent thousands if not millions on research and development to figure out what chemicals/additives will deliver nicotine in the fastest and most effective way to get addicted users their fix. It took insider whistleblowers to make this information public, whistleblowers who were sued and given death threats. There's a movie that was made about one of the most famous whistleblowers starring Al Pachino (The Insider) that is very close to the real story that occurred with CBS news - some scenes word-for-word. Additional videos on KZfaq (60 minutes story, Big Tobacco, etc.). I guess the main other point to my comment: for years MANY have suffered in silence the guilt and shame of be addicted to cigarettes - especially Christians who struggle with it. Many in the church have no clue ... they think someone should just quit a bad sinful habit. They are unaware an entire industry has spent millions to discover exactly how to keep a human addicted to nicotine (with satan's help I'm sure). With 500,000 souls dieing each year from smoking there clearly is satanic involvement. It's a big deal. Yes, Jesus can break chains, Yes total deliverance, but as someone whose chain for whatever reason wouldn't break from prayer alone, I'd highly recommend the nicotine therapy patch along with much prayer and time in the presence of the Lord. It's better to be on a patch the rest of your life if necessary than taking in the 7000+ chemical/carcinogens they add to every single cigarette. And if you're a non-smoker Christian the smoking Christian needs your ongoing prayerful support to overcome addiction rather than your unempathetic/dismissive suggestions and judgmental attitude. Clearly a passion of mine lol - sorry for the long-winded comment but hope it's informative/edifying for someone who needs to hear it.

Don't be mistaken; it's still very addictive. There's as much nicotine if not more in ecigs as there is in regular cigarettes. The benefits are it's much easier to step down off of than cigs, there's no stinky or harmful secondhand smoke, and it's much less harmful (if harmful at all) than inhaling tobacco smoke.

Hilarious! I don't give a rip why he has the ecig, and I could care less about all the bull that is being posted about the benefits of the ecig, this is funny! I may go buy one just to sit in our church and freak out the geriatric section.

I've never smoked in my life and I never will, but I would never tell people they can't. Both my parents smoke, and have for most of their lives, and I really wish they would start using a device like this to break the habit for their own health. I see this as the future of smoking, period. It's clean, it's much safer for your body and if you just want to "look cool" without nicotine at all there are cartridges for that. Of course the tobacco industry won't easily allow it.

That's not entirely true; a lot of electronics cigarettes (I can't say all because I don't know for certain) contain nicotine within the liquid mixture inside the cigarette and since it's the nicotine that's addictive it would be possible to become addicted using one. I have seen in churches across the country (about 30 years ago) these brass-coloured stick-on labels for the bathroom doors, featuring a tall, slender woman for the women's bathroom, and a tall, slender man (for the men's bathroom) WHO YOU CAN SEE TO BE HOLDING A CIGARETTE IF YOU LOOK CLOSELY ENOUGH! How horrified all those church people would be if they knew! And I've seen the same stickers recently in a local church. So no one noticed for 30 years?

Heart disease is the big killer, more than lung cancer, which nicotine contributes to by hardening the arteries and reducing the oxygenation of the cells (replacing a lot of oxygen that you would normally get with carbon monoxide in the smoke you're inhaling). And as a nurse I deal with quite a lot of people who quit smoking years ago and yet still have come down with COPD (emphysema, chronic bronchitis) decades later because the damage has already been done.

You obviously have no idea what the purpose of an electronic cigarette is. Branyan apparently had a bad smoking habit, so he uses the electronic cig whenever he feels the urge to light up. Since only water vapor comes out of it, it's non addictive.

@stephenp1968 that depends on their argument for why you should not smoke or drink. If its solely health reasons then yes if they are with knowledge eating horrid things and judging others they're being hypocritical. But if they give you a scripture reference you should submit to it if it fits properly. Elders are commanded not to drink much if at all, and drunkenness is surely a sin, but so is gluttony. Smoking isn't laid out in scripture unless it's drugs, that is forbidden as witchcraft.
