I have virtually the same set up and after using my plow all last winter, I'm even more convinced I should have gotten a snowblower instead. Why? Because, when I plow a fair amount of snow like this gentleman, like him, I wind up with a ton of snow at the end of the driveway. Problem: You can't raise the plow blade high enough to push the snow sufficiently out of the way. With a snowblower, you can put the snow wherever you want to and primarily, away from the piled up snow banks. Yes, a snowblower might take five minutes longer but it's all relative. Besides, you're still having fun!

You did a really good job of clearing out all that snow Monte! Nice of you to help the neighbors, I'm sure they are happy about that. Quite a rig you have and you know just how to run it. BRAVO! What a good neighbor, we need more of your kind in this country!!!

That turn radius I'm definitely jealous of. I have an 85 F350 dump I use for plowing and the truck is super long with a wide turn radius. This thing turns on a dime

I love to plow snow, just bought a blade for my JD 430 but still looking for the angle hydraulic cylinder. You may need to put a spinning knob on your steering wheel, it will make your job a lot easier. Nice equipment you got there.

Nice job, are you on gravel or concrete? I have a long gravel drive and am debating whether to put a blade or snow thrower on my tractor. Each has it’s pros and cons I suppose.
@montekrueger97623 жыл бұрын
Mostly concrete. We rarely get over 8-10" of snow and I have plenty of space to pile it, so the blade works fine for me. If it gets REALLY deep I have a snow blade for my skid steer.
@markg.25012 жыл бұрын
Hey Steve, As a Plowing Contractor of 44 years, IMO.... It depends on how much snow you get. If you often run out of places to push the snow to....you'd need a snow thrower to get it over the snow berm you created with your plow blade. Plus, A Thrower could put a hurtin on your budget vs a simple plow blade. so, couple things to consider there.
@brendanperry64292 жыл бұрын
If the majority of the snow you get is "dry", get the blower attachment, "wet" snow get the blade. I have both, back up plan if the blower ever breaks?

First time I’ve seen a guy use a small blade correctly on a tractor. Most have no clue where to start and lineup their blade and end up taking a lot of wasted trips up and down their driveways.

It works, but a 54 is to small for that machine. A 66 or 72 is much better. Good job!

I agree. When fully angled the 54 does not clear the rear tires. Thinking about adding some wings.

Nice job, but I find a snow blower moves heavy snow (about a foot) much more efficiently. Don't think anyone uses a small tractor in this neck of the woods.

Snow blowers work great on lighter snow, but the wet heavy sticky stuff we get around St Louis, a blade works better.

Not to be picky but..... Plowing up snow against the foundation of that house had to make it a bit colder. Also you plowed up snow around the mailboxes including leaving a mound in front of the one across the street. Mailmen need to be able to get to the box without getting out of their truck and also people need to able to get to the box. Simple things make it look like you cleared their box area and not just looked for a place to dump snow from your driveway. Then with the foundation, if there is a leak or if it leans for some reason, they will be looking to blame someone.
