We all know John Delorean stood out in the automotive industry, in part because of his flamboyant lifestyle (but mostly because of his sizable chin). So maybe it wasn’t a good idea for Delorean to get into the Cocaine trafficking business. Delorean was nabbed carrying a briefcase worth over 6.5 million dollars worth of cocaine, but did the FBI set him up? Or would the British backed DMC finally find success in Ireland. Check out the gm plant they just tore down in Janesville, WI. Closed in 06 maybe, with half-built chevy suburbans still on the line. Building was so big we had to use helicopters to replace machinery on the roof because cranes couldn't reach that far.

In regards to the screw ups that killed the Vega, there was another massive issue, that was about dumb and a half! The engines were designed to have unlined, aluminum cylinder bores. This has always blown my mind! From what I remember reading, the blocks were made using an alloy which actually made this feasible, but they managed to screwed up the cylinder wall treatment process... How friggin awesome can ya get!

I grew up with gm and Chrysler at the end of my street. Chrysler's building is a mile long by a 1/4 mile wide so u have to drive a mile south or north to go east or west. 8 mile to 9 mile mound to the tracks or u can say sherwood

The new DeLorean plant is about 30 minutes from my house. When I found out about it I had planned on driving over there to check it out but from every picture I’ve seen it’s basically just a nondescript building that sometimes has a handful of DMC-12’s parked outside. I don’t even know if they’re doing anything besides selling parts and putting a car together on occasion. No idea if they’re selling full “new” cars or not. A while back I heard they had plans for a new model, but I have no clue if they’re still working on it or what. Maybe I’ll take a drive over there some time and take a look around.

To answer some question and points made: The DeLorean was originally supposed to be a mid engine car. John DeLorean being 6'4" wanted to fit in his own car, didn't want the funky peddles-to-the-side problems found in most mid-engine cars, and wanted to be able to put at least ONE set of golf clubs in his car. So the engine was pushed back which created a shelf behind the driver's seat where exactly ONE set of golf clubs could be stored. I'm shocked...SHOCKED I say! That you guys didn't mention Larry Flint's role in the DeLorean saga. Hustler magazine smut King really hated the government; especially since he was in a wheel chair because of them. So he paid an FBI agent a cocaine briefcase worth of money for a copy of what are infamously known as "The DeLorean tapes". Flint released the tapes to the public which showed the FBI in a very bad light, essentially proving the FBI entrapped DeLorean, and is widely credited with helping John win the case. John attempted to thank Flint, but Flint told him to F off...that he didn't do it for John. John tried to get the county to allow him to turn his 400+ acre home into a golf course, but the government wouldn't allow it. When John lost his home and Trump purchased it, Trump was readily able to turn it into a golf course. The home wasn't torn down, but rather, turned into the clubhouse.
