As we continue our journey through the history of the now infamous Hells Angels, James, Joe, and Nolan take a thorough look at the event that forever tarnished their name, The Altamont Free Concert. Initially booked as a sister concert to the biggest festival at the time, Woodstock, The Altamont Free Concert almost didn’t happen when security dropped out last minute. The Hells Angels stepped in and took over, but their decision would consequently defame the beloved motorcycle outlaws. However, was the disaster at Altamont really their fault? We’ll find out in Part Four of our series on the Hells Angels!

i live 10 minutes from the altamont speedway. can see it from 580 highway. its still there but beat up. my friends and I were trying to come up with a way to buy it at one point. i still want to.

I heard a bit of a different story regarding the stabbing at the concert. Meredith was allegedly carrying a gun. Some reports claim there was never a gun. It's also important to note that the stabbing took place when the Stones were playing Sympathy for the Devil. This was the only time unfortunate events took place while this song was played live.

Stories of the older days just feel so raw. Like it was like the essence of living, there are no boundaries, you live your own life and do what you wanna do with it however it was so tragic as well knowing maybe because nowadays we have established rules and regulations and more careful of our lives but regardless everyone back then was just living their lives to the fullest I must say.

I think the reason we don't really have a defining thing is because we kinda live in the remix age. I dress very 70s most days and that's fine, many of my mates dress 80s or 90s or very goth or very Bohemian or whatever. There's kinda no defining image because the lack of defining image is our defining image. We use mobile phones and vinyl players to listen to our music, we have high tech electric cars modelled after designs from the 70s and from video games, everything is remixed to the Nth degree, and that's our defining thing: anything goes style

So a while back we had a yearly electronic music festival called winter warmer. Security was handled completely by a biker gang. There were no issues that I know of EVER with them. The thousand ish people that bought out the resort that closed to the public for this event every year were all good natured ravers and electronic music fans there for the 5 stages of music and maybe a few for the drugs. (Which were kept private) I'm going to blame alcohol for all the problems at Altimont. Both with the fans and the bikers. Bottom line alcohol is the devil!!! (Not that I never drink just not too much.)

Think on this. Despite the violence and the possibility of violence, the HA's could not even keep the crowd of the stage! Might easily have been some of the RS's or others killed that day if things had gone down differently. Man, I don't think Solomon could sort all of this out. That crowd was out of control to begin with.
