John Goodman for me is the T.V. dad that I never had in real life. I loved watching him wrestle around with D.J. and play basketball with Darlene, and sit and listen to Becky ramble on about anything. This Roseanne reboot is by far my favorite show in 2018. I've been watching non stop re runs since the show ended. I'm so happy for him that he's gotten himself off the hard sauce. He seems very happy and aware.

I agree that they probably pounced on her much quicker than they might’ve had her political beliefs been different. Then again, this is a different time than when Roseanne was originally on the air. Can you imagine what would have happened if the anthem incident happened today? At the same time, Roseanne should have not given them anything to use against her. She should have left Twitter or stopped the political discussions. Then again, she wasn’t removed for political comments or saying something mean. It was a racist remark. I don’t believe that makes her a racist because I believe her background speaks for itself. Let’s not try and act like she just said “something” or was fired for liking Trump. Let’s also not pretend that Hollywood being liberal colors they way they look at controversial situations. Obviously they’re going to have less tolerance for attacks against the left. Same as Fox News would probably be fine with their employees saying anything about the left but if the comments go towards the right they’d punish them for it. Not a great comparison but the best one I have now.

@Alex Geise Ironic Defined: Roseanne was a "politically incorrect" show, that made it and her one of the most iconic and relatable shows of all time. Her pushing boundaries, overstepping the line, saying and doing what she wanted is what made that show!! Here's the irony in the whole situation... Her Political correctness is what got her fired ?? Roseanne is no more racist than God himself! The only difference between 1988-1997 and NOW is people wasn't so quick to jump on the sensitive/hurt feelings wagon and actually had the right to freedom of speech.

When no one seems to notice that the previous few presidents have done their absolute best to destroy this country? I have noticed even those who don’t care for him say even say he’s done great things for our country. Roseanne’s tweet was not about race. It was political, as Roseanne has mentioned numerous times. She was trying to comment on Iran, which is experiencing chaos in its streets as we speak. Roseanne believes Valerie, as a member of the Obama administration, had a role in the expansion of the Muslim brotherhood in places like Iran. The tweet had NOTHING to do with what the movie is called, and everything to do with what the movie is about. Planet of the Apes, the movie, is about overthrowing political despots (where the Apes rule and humans are their servants and either fight back or escape). And that is what some people of Iran are trying to do to their own government. People need to get past the word “Ape”. That had nothing to do with what Roseanne was trying to say. If the movie was called “waka maka waka” then that’s what she would have said, because what the movie is called was irrelevant to what she was trying to say. Again, Roseanne was comparing what she believes to be Valerie’s actions with the PLOT of the movie, not the name or characters in it.

John Charisse That’s probably the best most well spoken way of explaining what happened, wish you’d been her PR person. I myself got her tweet cause I knew the references & what they meant...has nothing to do with skin color of VJ. Roseanne isn’t racist & sadly I feel that everyone from the original cast knew that! I wondered what people like John Goodman really thought about it all...in interviews about the “spin off” he seemed depressed & like the whole situation was torture...when asked how he felt about Roseanne not being part of the show he was talking about how he missed her when Sara “I wouldn’t have a career w/o Roseanne” Gilbert would cut him off to pivot to a different subject...he looked like he was being tortured. I wonder if he really feels that way or if it’s just how I would hope he’d react to the travesty?

What’s never said about John is that he was a quasi father-figure for many guys who never had a father. I never met my father, and I’m grateful that John had some influence on maturing me into a man. Roseanne was a great show and he was a great dad there. He set a positive example of what an average dad can be. A positive influence to his children and a moral man. I wish America would embrace great father-figures more instead of unfairly demonizing white men as a whole. It’s absolutely disgusting and sad.

C-LAROCK THE MAYOR It's the same all over the South. The racism in the cities is there, but it's more subdued because the southern cities have had to squelch that for economic reasons. You want to see the REAL SOUTH? Get off the interstate and away from the major cities. New Orleans, however is one of the WORST of the southern cities. But I do love the city. We used to go down for Mardi Gras every few years. But, since they've attempted to make it a "family friendly" event, there is no longer any reason to go. Not EVERYTHING needs to be "family friendly". That's sick.

Love you John Goodman. You were my favorite character on the show. Because of the way that you would scream and yell and it was just you and you reminded me a lot of my father. With the way that he would get upset about things and he would do it in a jokingly way just as you do or shall I say did. And it was completely awesome and funny! Are you kind of toned-down now? I've noticed when the show came back and you got mad about something and I went there he goes... he's gonna lose it and you kind of didn't. It wasn't the same ol Dan... Oh yeah it was about when Becky was going to have another woman's baby and you were very very upset eventually... That's how Dan's character is. He stays quiet until the bottom drops off then whenever he opens his mouth.... watch the "F" out LMAO LMAO Love you Dan Connor and love you John Goodman. XOXO

John….did you just say that due to the success of ‘Roseanne’ you made your Mom so proud, and you were able to buy her a house? The job brought you out to LA, let you settle down. They kept you on through all the drinking. You speak of the revival show as a great gift. You took and took, but you couldn’t bother to give back when you were most needed.

Awenda ESPN did fire their newscaster who tweeted negatively about Trump in his first year and CNN fired 2 of their journalists who reported a story about Scaramucci that only had one source instead of two. Trump had a “Fake News Awards” they couldn’t even find 10 false media stories about him they had to include a bunch of opinion editorials that he just didn’t like to get to 10. The rate of Conservatives who study liberal arts at college, like Journalism, has always been minuscule so the on-the-beat reporters are usually going to want to go after crony capitalism, government social spending cuts, social injustice, inequality etc but at the end of the day every media network is a corporation run first and foremost for PROFIT. They will never allow their writers/anchors to advocate for anything which slows their profit margins and if the executives at the top thought they could make more money pushing conservative ideals they would do it in a second, but conservative outlets already have that market cornered and centre/left outlets would only lose views trying to go after the right wing who are already loyal to their own strictly republican sources. I’m not sure if you have this in America, but in Australia, we have 2 free-to-air tv news networks which are tax payer funded with no advertiser based funding and whichever government is in power can’t change the funding or direct them in any way. I find the most trustworthy sources are usually the ones who don’t need to bias their reporting or op-eds in any direction to please their corporate overlords.
