He's ~150kg from the open record and it mainly comes from squat while being around half of the average weight of an opens lifter.

love how John just casually walks into the gym and high bars 750lbs with no sleeves or wraps at his weight...I mean wtf man. It would be awesome to see John hit a 600lb bench and 900lb deadlift in 4 weeks at Hybrid.

What is the purpose of that bent curved bar that Andy is using? How does it differ on movements from the standard one? I’m new to powerlifting so I’m curious.
@AdrianMartinez-nw7il2 жыл бұрын
It helps for people with mobility issues because the bar curves around your back.... You can also use it for bench to increase the ROM

He explains why he uses it at the end of the video
@brandonhoover21202 жыл бұрын
@@AdrianMartinez-nw7il That’s not entirely true. You can have mobility that’s perfectly adequate. Andy can clearly squat fine. It’s for relieving stress on the shoulder. It can be just as much a preventative measure.

Johns squat is anomaly. The bar sits high on his traps. Looks like a high bar. And yet so crisp.

How much is he weighing and how much will he cut for the comp?
@ironrebel80782 жыл бұрын
He is currently 216lb, so about 18lb to cut
@PinataOblongata2 жыл бұрын
@@ironrebel8078 How the heck does he drop so much and still retain strength... twice I have tried to drop about 5-6kg from an already lean state to compete at a lower class and it was like someone just addiing 10kg to the bar for each lift in terms of my performance. How long does he take to cut? I have seen him doing the water cut thing in other videos with the portable sauna tent thing, etc.

respect to the Hackster for his crazy upright quad dominant squat. I don't know why he squats like that he would lift way more if he did the typical lean forward crap powerlifter squat lol

Safe to say at this level he's worked out how he can lift the most and that's what works for him. Do you think he has the mindset to be leaving anything on the table on purpose?
