Yes I agree, it is stupid to get excited at Murtough being given the boot. It was the most obvious thing to do and it has taken them 3 months to do it. The correct and reasonable reaction is to say, "not before bloody time". Now we are starting to see how Ratcliffe and INEOS are operating. I think they have not announced their plans to replace Ten Hag because they do not want a period of uncertainty and speculation around who the next manager will be. I think this means that Southgate still hasn't decided if he wants the job and I think Potter could be the preferred candidate but they want to secure Ashworth so that their is an all new look to the footballing structure in the Summer. Ratcliffe and INEOS are about to make a huge mistake, in my opinion, and letting go of Ten Hag is going to set us back a few years. I'm honestly expecting a "hear me out: why Southgate could be a masterstroke", or "How we might line up under Potter" video. I am absolutely dreading it.
