I really hate how they killed of Jackson. He was one of the interesting characters.

When they killed Anderson (Mercedes) off the show Alexi had no intentions but he though that it will be the only way to make watchers fell like the most dramatic and powerful way to impact the story. Titus (Jackson) didn’t want to play as a black cop on a show because of what was happening in the world (the death of George Floyd etc..) he told Alexi and had no choice but to kill Jackson of the show, besides Titus has a music career so he’s going to continue pursing the music career

@@constancelikecorn But that was what made Jackson so interesting. He's a black legacy cop who always believed at the law. But he starting to question it because of todays event.

@@Exilon0193 it probably made him uncomfortable... it's lots to take in when you are that character but IRL shit just keep happening... plus he's kinda the star for many of the "incidents"... plus it probably felt forced to some people... tho i hope he could come back some day to play flashback to academy... one day...

I’d like to think that from the episode Greenlight, when Nolan despite being in danger still shows up for work. I think that’s when Grey started to gain respect for him.

Seeing her hug Nolan was the best part of that scene. Also seeing how proud Tim looked when hearing Nolan was no longer a rookie. Tim might be a hard ass but he can see how good of a cop Nolan is and I look forward to them sharing more 1 on 1 moments as Nolan works towards becoming a TO

In S3 it was confirmed Nolan can't ever join a specialized unit i.e being a detective or SWAT

@@o5-18 The way I interpreted it was that Grey said with the reprimand, it would be almost impossible for any higher up to give him a shot. So, there could be someone like Anderson who believes in him based off what he's done and might think Nolan's reprimand was out of line and give him a chance.

@@DarkLordDiablos Basically Castle was another police procedural he was in, but it centered around him working with a detective all the time. While he wasn't one himself, he effectively did the same job as a TV detective for several seasons. Outside of a personality change, it would effectively be the same stuff we have already seen him do.

Well I don't think Grey disliked him personally, it was about him being able to do the job and considering bizzaro world nolan washed out before the end of roll call, he probably had a point.

He thought Nolan was just using the police force as a way to live out his fantasy and wanted him gone in the 1st season. Maybe he didn't hate him, but he definitely didn't want him on the force at the beginning

and I am sure Nolan still thinks of them too, Andersen was the first high ranking officer to give him a chance and he will not forget that to avoid letting her down and indeed Jackson was one of his best friend and his whole reason to become a TO is because of what happened to Jackson with Doug Stanton.

"They" didn't really kill him off - The actor left because he didn't want to play a police officer in the current political climate. He was going to leave at the end of season 2, but they promised him they'd handle police reform with his character at the centre in season 3. That's why Jackson's death seems so out of left field and rushed in terms of plot and filming, & why we don't see his face in the footage or see a body. The actor kind of left them high and dry. He could've told them he was planning on leaving at the end of season 3 and they could've figured out a smoother exit, but he didn't, & this is the best they could manage on short notice.

The difference is that there was another way before Nolan did what he did and he didn't follow the proper protocolfor reporting a bad cop when there would've been help. In this situation no one in the proper chain of command was going to help them so they had to do this if they wanted her back.

The actor who played him left the show pretty suddenly and the death he got was the best they could do with not much notice and with respect to the character.

When actors leave a show on not the best of terms or are not expected to ever return they are usually killed off so there is no returning (Dallas being an exception). If they want to leave the door open the character will leave for another state/country. The exception to the killed is if they don't find body especially a bad guy.

He's the weakest actor on there so the show will be fine.

Could be true the actor has refused to do any interviews about his departure and he has been absent on social media.

no they found his killer because Jackson scratched him and they pulled dna from his nails. Which means they did have his body in the morgue. They just couldn't show it because the actor wasn't available anymore. Which is probably the reason you only see him get shot from behind and never his face in the whole episode.

Titus Makin started growing uncomfortable with playing a cop around the end of season 2(George Floyd and all) and he wanted to leave. the writers convinced him to stay, adding the Stanton plotline and community center to appease him. that wasn't enough and he quit during the hiatus between filming seasons 3 and 4(ostensibly to focus on his "music career"), leaving everyone high and dry and the writers backed into a corner. so yeah, he left on his own terms, but in a douchebag "I'm taking my ball and going home" sort of way

Jackson's dead. The actor wanted to quit playing as Jackson and wanted to focus on working on music. We also see his grave at the end of the episode.
