Got to meet John Taylor a few years ago. He was driving a semi truck and was a very humble gentleman. He autographed my jersey and gave me a few photos with him Jerry and Joe.

I lived in SF and the Bay Area from 1982-2009. One of the best memories was the happy insanity that fell over the city after it made that catch. Great receiver and I'm glad hear going in the Niners HOF

I've been a Niners fan since Super Bowl 23. I believe this is the first time I've heard the great John Taylor talk in an interview. Good to finally hear from him. Rice's quiet sidekick.

I was 16 years old in ‘96 and headed down the wrong path…this guy kept on taking me out to the yard to throw the ball around and talk about life. Months passed and he finally asked me do I watch football and who was my team.. I said the Niners and he just nods., weeks passed and someone asked me do I know who he was..? I just said that dude is Mr. Taylor. Never gave him props or even believed he was the guy. Humble man, very cool and calm and legs for days. I finally came to my senses and one day acknowledged him and gave him his props. Nothing changed he’s just an awesome dude. Saw him once more on the outs at a park and he stopped and talked with me and my young family at the time. I wonder where he is time to time and I hope he’s well. I just want to tell him thank you for the guidance and he made a difference in my life. He had the best kicks (nikes) in ‘96 840 Guadalupe Pkwy

As a kid I used to idolize these players I met John Taylor in 2006 he come to my job in San Francisco he was driving his big 18 wheeler he’s humble guy 🙌🏽

John Taylor was a really special player and quite frankly there is no equal. He was the sharp edge, the rock, the element of surprise, the secret weapon that repeately delivered the "coup da gras" to 49er opponents on the biggest stage. He was quick, had the surest hands, vision for returning kicks, and was very elusive with RACs. If he had played on a medicore team he would be in the NFL HOF, but instead he played with the greatest players that ever played the game and his value could only be felt by his absence which was never tested duing the journey of three super bowl victiores. How can I say this, JT is one of the greatest wide receivers to ever play the game. No one can tell me he was not a super wide receiver. He just didn't have the statistics that Jerry Rice had. 49ers were so fortunate to have these two weapons.

No better a duo ever than JT and JR. Montana and Young were so lucky to have two legends to pass to. It was a privilege watching this man play football. He had to be the most humble dude ever with Rice opposite him and yet we never heard anything negative.

I always thought JT was overlooked when he was a Niner. Every other player made the news while he was rarely mentioned. Jerry Rice is the GOAT, but he wouldn't have been so open if it wasn't for JT giving defenses another person to worry about.
