In my opinion in season 2 and 3 the writers kind of made johnny stupid to the point where he is a manchild in season 1 he wasn't the brightest but he still showed intelligence and heart and self awareness I honestly the show was really handled poorly after Van partabile the creator left with some staff writers and it definitely shows I'm glad he came back in season 4
