I had never been in the mall, so it was interesting to see the Proper People video. Here is the link: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gpdgacmKzJ-sZYE.html

The new Alexandria Hospital at this location is great news. The mixed-use plans with housing that will be most likely unaffordable for the average Alexandrian? Not such great news.

You don't quite appreciate the size of the building until the entrance has been removed.

I think it would be fun to be able to run one of those excavators taking down a building. I'm not saying it was nice this was torn down, but, if it's gonna come down, I would enjoy doing some of the work! Thanks for putting this up. I just finished watching a couple of videos about what it looked like when it was barely open and then closed. It helps to see the end since it sat there for so long in a closed state.

Can't understand this, malls in my home town of Melbourne, Australia are booming. Difficult to get a car park on weekends!! Complete opposite to the US.

Thanks, John. Is that a boiler on the ground on the left at 27:57, and another one on the second floor on the right? I always thought they were put in the basement.

Those are water cooled chiller systems for the HVAC. They reduce the need for lengthy duct work over a large building like this. Here you can see one that still has the compressor attached: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/o6mbgM19mMXFco0.html

Looks like demolition is usa is a lot less complicated like in Germany where they have to send samples to the laboratory for typing where the stuff can be disposed. And they have to empty the building completely every item has to be taken out that is not part of the walls etc😅

it HIGHLY varies here in the states, some companies do entire internal guts, others just partial, some none at all, material is sorted surprisingly accurately (usually little skid steers on and off screen) concrete/bricks, landfill, shred metals and P&S (plate and structural, the big beams)

I was filming in Maryland and missed the first few days of the excavators at Landmark when they took down the facade, including the remains of the "Landmark" over the glass entrance.
