This guy is one of the great jazz guitar players of this era. And he keeps getting better! The ideas, the phrasing. So musical, and that sound! 👏👏👏

What really struck me upon rewatching this is the volume between strings. The lower strings weren’t overpowering, plus the consistent prioritization of the melody dynamically is so good. I found this fairly difficult on electric more than acoustic at times when you want all of the voices in the chords to ring out only to cover the melody up with those lower voices overpowering it. Jonathan does it perfectly here! My initial though was, “I wonder what multi-band compressor he’s using!”😂

Hey Mitchell! It's true that Jonathan is really great with the dynamics! It's really important to work on that as a guitar player! Control is the key ! :P

Oh Man, I was unaware of Dr. Lonnie Smith's passing! I saw them together in Denver's Dazzle Jazz and became an instant fan of Jonathan Kreisberg that night. An excellent time indeed and a place full of people that really loved the music.

Hi Johathan, that sounds really awesome. May I ask, how much of this rendition is actually pre-composed and how much "pure improvisation"? This is definitely no provocation; I am pretty aware that such fluent, consistent and nice playing does not come 100% "from the moment"

@Gitaristterjestorvig Жыл бұрын
Great playing. Maybe the tape on the neck pickup is to avoid clicksounds from the pick.
@nitroxsam662 жыл бұрын
Is that tape on the front pu to mute contact made with the pick? I can kinda here a slight "tick" sound from pick meeting the pu.

Why is that piece of tape on the neck pickup? To prevent the click of the pick on it?
