A real captain would have used this as a way to rally around Beach and win it for him as a group. Instead the entire organization failed Beach and pretended like nothing happened just to win a cup. Pretty gross behaviour if you ask me.

Agreed the whole team failed Kyle Beach. However the decisions to ignore these things at the time was done by upper management and ownership I would assume. The team didn't vote to ignore it. The team is absolutely guilty on my mind....but I do not think the players made any decisions on this.

I wouldn't get too caught up on the 10-year delay. From what has been reported, it’s my understanding that players knew and some were making fun of the situation in the locker room, which if true, is sad. I personally wonder what fans would have chose back then. Have this situations dealt with as it happened and was found out about. With the possibility of it being the distraction and the team losing in the finals. And the guilty party be arrested and the situation handled. Or, the way it played out? So now the whole world knows what happened to Kyle. And apparently some of his team mates announced that their hearts go out to him….now that the whole world knows, and the risk of their reputations are on the table. But what about when there was no risk of being painted as heartless of character. Who sent their heart out to Kyle way back when they heard about this - even as a rumour? Like, you can’t really act the compassionate humanitarian now. I feel even an attempt to do so at this point in time really works against a person. Because no one believes them, for one. And for two, it just looks like your embarrassed about having - let’s call it what it is - completely thrown a young man, along with all his hopes and dreams, and along with all the emotional turmoil that he must now endure, straight under the bus. That IS what this is. But yet, I do understand that when you are part of an exclusive group and your not even the one in charge, it can be extremely difficult to voice anything that’s against the strong current of what ideals the people who ARE in charge had been wielding. I mean the other players must have been thinking if they speak up, they already know there may be punishment because the higher ups certainly seemed to want to sweep it under the rug. And a player had his own family to think of, wives, fiancé’s, children, etc. Who are counting on them NOT to loose their job, so they can live. And all this must be an insane amount of pressure. I’m not saying it was never completely delusional, but in a world where you’ve been chasing a goal your whole life, and you’ve got others depending on you, it takes a person with a lot of character to go against it. And I’m saying that I wish, and me least of all, that the people who billet these players when they’re developing, along with their own families, would have taught them that the NHL dream is big. Very big. And fame is big. And becoming wealthy is big. But none of its bigger than that unshakable spirit within all people to reach out in compassion to a suffering individual, and seek to end that suffering in the best way one is capable of. Nothing is more pure, or invincible, or healing - for everyone involved - than that most simple and basic of things, which we too often loose sight of when some of these other ‘big things’ show up in our lives. I cannot blame Jonathan Teows, nor any of the other players in this. They were/ are young men, and had not learned the power of compassion yet. But now they have, and I think this is a major transformation experience for all involved and who can fault a human for having a fault. Evolving our souls by the faults we uncover in ourselves is ACTUALLY why we go to earth school. And NHL players are not exempt from class. I would, however, love to see Kyle’s old team mates who knew and said nothing, just go in the media and say, “I actually was a complete self centred asshole - no excuses for my behaviour, and no rationalizing, justifying what I did, or did not do, in any fashion whatsoever. I feel like - I mean, I REALLY REALLY feel like a douche. And because I can now see that my past decisions in this matter were hugely flawed, I’ve am resolved to make an amend toward Kyle, and whatever the situation was.” Because all that would be just perfectly human to have occurred for a player who knew previous about what happened to Kyle. But for this type of flaw, an apology is not good enough. It must be amended in some way for the healing and growth of everyone. If your actions were somehow part of the ruin of a mans life, “sorry” means fuck all, other than to make it known you didn’t give a shit then, and you dont now. “Sorry” at this point means, “I’m deathly worried about my public reputation”. Such a person as this MUST make it right, not just for everyone involved I. This case, but for the potentials of any future case as well. If one doesn’t make an earnest amend here, who would ever think they’d not just do it again the NEXT time some young kid gets preyed upon by people you associate with? Nobody. This is how it stops.

I would definitely hope that you would want everyone to pay for their part in a sexual assault against your child. Also, the fact that youre asking if he is gay or bisexual is completely absurd. Whether he's gay, bisexual, straight or anything else is not relevant in a sexual assault case. So maybe you shouldnt be so closed-minded to the fact that soceity has changed and isnt as old school as you are. Evolve as a person and treat everyone the way you would like to be treated.

I as an E-3 , and my friend as an E-3 , he definitely was more tolerant of stink than I was . An E-5 made him some extravagant promises that he could not follow through on . Long story short I called him on it , as he then proceeded to screw about 8 or 10 others , E-4's included . I looked at 2 corporals and said you both going to stand there and say nothing? Well , screw this , I had a talk with the Sgt , and he just proved by his asinine response that he has no morals or integrity. Went over his head to the Ssgt , and it got me no where. I then used the chain of command and brought the Platoon C.O. into it , ... Yes I had the final say , and the E-5 stood watch as he should have, he wanted to burn me 1st chance he got ... guess what ? Never gave the JO the satisfaction , although I was on latrine duty for 30 days because my moral integrity to lead by example was higher than they wanted out of me. All a man has in the end of the day is his Morals and his word .

Just like taking advice from a celebrity on important social issues, their insight is very limited and you cannot expect them to comment on things that are incredibly deep. Some players may have been through sexual abuse themselves or in their families and those are the players who should be interviewed (Theo, Sheldon, etc.) because they actually have valuable insight. Robin Lehner is one of the few players in the league who is clearly very intelligent and has valuable insight on issues the players face, I'll listen to him talk about this but not Jonathan and his "oh, uh, ya, uh the team is a family, uh ya, well, I don't know, uhhhhhhhh these are all stand up guys" bullshit.....and its not even his fault, his insight and other players who were on the team is meaningless, most of the guys on the team didn't even know Kyle Beach, he said that himself. The investigation states that blackhawks didnt report the allegations but handled it internally. However, the sexual assault allegations still needs to be decided in court. Everyone is equal under the law regardless of public opinion. Social media is not the law. An investigative report is just that, an investigation. Lalonde says that he believes guys don't know what to say so they're just saying they didn't hear. Regardless, I do think with three players supporting the claim that the players knew during the finals, and Beach was harassed, most probably knew. However, Beach isn't throwing out players names who harassed him and neither are the other 3. I think he's going to protect those guys from being scrutinized.

Hearing something said as a rumor and guys giving someone else a hard time. I'm 90% sure that Beach probably laughed those things off at the time and made it like it wasn't "a big deal". I know how it works. So, others not harassing probably blew it off as rumors and that Beach was ok. Hence, why they probably don't know how to answer. Like, they could say "we heard stuff. Toews didn't know what happened until long after Aldrich left as explained on page 53 of the report. FYI, Beach was a Black Ace who never practiced with the main roster where Toews was as explained on page 22, how would you like Toews to be supposed to "speak up" for someone he barely knows and with whom he rarely ever practiced with? Also, if you look at Beach's twitter you'll notice he liked a tweet in March commemorating the anniversary of Toews' first career hat trick, which means they're in contact. I wonder how Beach would react if he knew people were going after Toews for what happened to him knowing he seemed to like him pretty well. Blame the coach who assaulted Beach and not Toews who did absolutely nothing wrong and who must probably feel guilty enough today to make it worse. Mind your own business and stop pretending you're a good person if you can't even tell right from wrong and lies from reality. Blaming Toews for what happened would be like me blaming you for not standing up for someone at your school who was being bullied because I saw you walking past that person in the hallways instead of me blaming the bully himself. Turn on your brain and do some research, it won't hurt you.

The players are not at fault for what happened, blame Aldridge and the people running the organization if your going to wave your fingers. The same “hero’s” in these comments sections are the same people who wouldn’t stop a mugging in progress, a fight on the street that ensues, derogatory catcalling, you walk right by a homeless person in need.
