They make reusable silicone bags that you can store your food in the freezer in. They work great, cheaper in the long run, don't leak or tear or whatever, and they're better for the environment too!

When I freeze meat (cooked or uncooked) I always spread the meat out flat in the bag after I get all the air out. This makes it easier and quick to thaw because it’s not in one big pile of meat. 😉😉

Jordan, I've been watching your channel for a few years now. Your approach to "one for now, two for later" has helped my family SO MUCH. As is the case with so many families during the past 2 years, my husband was laid off and having a stockpile has been life-changing. We've managed to live for 5 months with little income. Thank you for all you do, and when this new paycheck hits on Friday, I'll be hitting the sales and replenishing the stash! (Not all at once though, I don't wanna be a hoarder!)

If this is helpful… you can use it for basically anything!! Lol The precooked meat just takes out the time that you use to cook the meat. For example, if you’re having tacos just get out a bag a precooked ground beef and then add your seasonings and reheat it in a pan. Super easy! 🌮

Use like you would if you just cooked the meat- simple. We do not have any taste issues with it. Make sure to squeeze out the air when sealing the freezer bag to prevent frost bite. You can also freeze with sauce for a specific meal if you already know you wanted a BBQ chicken or pulled pork sandwich with that meat. I can cook up a full meal in less than 30 minutes starting with frozen meat if I forgot to pull it out beforehand. This may require defrosting in the microwave but I can make enough food to feed 8 people in that time. Can you imagine buying enough food to feed that many because you are hungry and want food right now? It is a sanity saver and money saver all in one little tip. I always use freezer bags, too.

I took the plunge this year and bought half a cattle beast from a farmer friend. Got it butchered and now it'll feed us for a year. So much cheaper than any supermarket prices! Also I cook in bulk and freeze the portioned meals. Then reheat and eat. Works for this single mama! Healthy home cooked meals hot on the table in 10 minutes on a weeknight. Takes a few hours to cook once a month or so, but saves so much time each evening. Also, you can cook and freeze veges when they are season to take advantage of lower seasonal prices too.

I was wishing for a link to recipes also. I’ll be glad to share that I do this with ground beef all the time. I season with S, P, garlic & onion powder but no Italian seasoning usually because once I thaw it, I can either add taco seasoning, add it to Manwich (canned) or use for Italian dishes like spaghetti and lasagna. It truly has transformed my cooking to have meat in the freezer already cooked! I cut apart the bag and put in a large dish & thaw slightly in the microwave on defrost setting then I put it into my dishes & cook with everything else.

We buy 32 whole chicken at the time from our butcher, cut them up how we want and pre season what will be baked and add sauce to what will be cooked in a crock pot vacuum seal raw. We also can some of the chicken and homemade. chicken brought to minimize the space needed in the freezer. Its definitely a 2-3 day process of prepping but it saves so much time on the daily. We do this twice/ year for a family of 3
@hgib3

This is how I cook most of the time. It saves me so much time later because the meat is done cooking and I just need a few sides and maybe a sauce and walla- a meal is served! It keeps me from a quick drive through meal for my hungry family of four who eat like eight people. The cost savings is huge! I often cook my chicken in the oven with some olive oil (it keeps chicken breast moist when they are skinless).

Great practical video!! If you cook the ground beef in a soup pot it will splatter less and it's easier to stir, etc, without coming close to edge of pan.
@Lucinda_Jackson
@Lucinda_Jackson 2 жыл бұрын
LOL I wouldn’t have tried to put even the whole 5 lbs in that pan and my eyes popped when you tried for 10 lbs! 😂 Just wanted to add that even if you don’t have a large family (or any family at all!), this is still the way to go. Actually it may be even more important! I live alone, but go through a fair amount of cheese and buy some of my shredded cheese in the 5 lb bags and divide it up. The price is usually far better than anything else, but when my store brand is buy 2, get 3 free of the 8 Oz bags, that’s even cheaper and I go to town. It’s better quality cheese - I think it’s packaged by Sargento - and it’s a phenomenal price! I also buy my meat in bulk and either have them break it down at the meat counter or do it myself at home. Some ground beef is seasoned and made into patties to be frozen for quick burgers. Just Cook them from frozen. Some is plainly seasoned with salt and pepper and cooked before portioning and freezing. Some is portioned and frozen raw without seasoning. The reason I say it can be even more important for those of us who live alone is that there’s not much incentive to fuss in the kitchen just for yourself so there’s a tendency toward skipping meals and grabbing snacks. If it’s super easy to just pull out and make something quick, you’re much more likely to do it and eat properly. 💕

Love the crockpot at the start. I know a man who use to work organizing and running a chicken farm and I had to ask him...when getting chicken and or any whole meat from the grocery or anywhere that's usually whole is it best to wash before cooking or placing in cookware to cook. He said " ooh yes. Even if the meat was packaged you don't know how well the packing station was cleaned after so many usages...mmmm or if any objects other then food particles touch or stay on the meat it can be washed off. Could be an object so small like unseen yet you may feel something rock like or whatever so just make sure you wash and clean all whole meat" I knew growing up my mom always washed her whole meats like chicken, pork chops, fish steaks, ribs ect. I'm very iffy about eating people's meals if they included meat unless I know they wash their meat and cook.

When you re-heat ground beef, it can have an odd taste to it. But if you cook it on low in the crockpot, it does not have that odd taste when re-heated. I also add a few dashes of Bragg liquid aminos to the cooked hamburger, which gives it a great beefy taste. I store it in bags or jars, and freeze. You can also keep a jar in the fridge to use in the next couple of days. It's seriously good this way. Note that the finished product will have fairly small pieces of meat, or you can make a meatloaf out of it.

My Mom's award worthy advice🏅 Glad press and seal is where freezer storage is at! My mom told me she preferred freezing serving(s) of meat and seafood with Glad press and seal. Then storing them in large freezer ziplocs with sharpied labels and dates. She conducted a comparison study and now prefers this over vacuumed sealed for 99% of things. The judging criteria was color, freezer burn, taste, effort, and storage quality. Its pretty obvious who my mom thought won. Now my dad does it too. He is a hunter/fisher and my mom eats pescatarian with a heavily korean infulenced diet. So, quite different and they both agree that glad press and seal is their go to. All my siblings do it too now that we have our own homes.

The fat is where all the flavor is in ground beef! Plus if you have that much liquid in your pans youre over crowding your pans. Put less in each pan and let it cook until it gets nice and brown on the bottom and the water has evaporated. That will give you better flavor and then you dont have to fuss with draining the meat.

I strain large batches of meat into a strainer with a bowl under and then dump the Grease into a container to Toss when done cooking and divide meat that way. Usually also cook with onion and garlic since I use it in everything

The light pink water hamburger meat in the tube is so greasy and cooks down so much. If there is a grocery store called The Fresh Market anywhere near you they have weekly specials here in TN on Tuesday $2.99 a pound for ground chuck out of the deli. When it’s cooked there is not any grease and you still have the pound you paid for.

You need a meat chopper for your hamburger…. It’s a game changer! I absolutely love mine….. Saw everyone using them on KZfaq cooking shows and thought they weren’t that big of a deal but they really are nice to have I actually got mine at the dollar store and it works great

Thank you for this video! I would like to know how do you address the problem where the meat's flavor changes after a week or so in the freezer? Do you have any ideas?

This is what I do with meat. But with the chicken I divide the broth from the Crock-Pot in with chicken. It makes the dish that I make so much more flavorful.

I have read that they don't recommend that anymore because it actually increases likelihood of cross contamination in your sink and so forth more than just putting it straight into whatever you are cooking it in.

As long as you fully cook the meats, it kills all the bacteria… otherwise you are throwing the bacteria around the kitchen, and a lot more then you would want too… is what I heard…

I use freezer storage bags instead of regular storage bags. I also double bag if I am not planning to use the cooked meat for several weeks.
