Hey Friends,
This week I share my thoughts on Harvey Weinstein, his conviction in New York being overturned and what it means for survivors of Harvey and everywhere.
Harvey Weinstein is a disgraced film producer and convicted predator.
Forgive the Wikipedia of his life but I think it’s important to illustrate how high he had climbed and how powerful he was for nearly forty years.
In 1979, Weinstein and his brother, Robert co-founded the entertainment company Miramax which produced several successful independent films including Sex, Lies, and Videotape (1989); The Crying Game (1992); Pulp Fiction (1994); Heavenly Creatures (1994); Flirting with Disaster(1996); and Shakespeare in Love (1998). Weinstein won an Oscar for producing Shakespeare in Love and also won seven Tony Awards for plays and musicals including The Producers, Billy Elliot the Musical, and August: Osage County. After leaving Miramax, Weinstein and his brother Bob founded The Weinstein Company, a mini-major film studio. Harvey used both to secure a staple position for himself in Hollywood as well as lord over anyone who worked with him. It was this power he would abuse for decades that would lead to him having such a long list of victims.
Just naming a few who have bravely come forward, Harvey committed crimes against or was inappropriate with Amber Anderson, Lysette Anthony, Rosanna Arquette, Jessica Barth, Kate Beckinsale, Jules Bindi, Cate Blanchett, Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow, Eva Green as well as 75 other women.
Thanks for watching. If you enjoy please share with someone who could use a laugh and most of all thanks for being my friends.
If you love my stories I have a podcast that comes out every week: bit.ly/3NQmpio

Speaking of female gangs the Sukeban in japan around the 70's was a female gang started as a response to the Yakuza not accepting female members. At their height they were the second most feared gang in Japan behind the yakuza. So there is precedent!

It blows my mind every time i think about the absolute s%*$ stacked against the women of history, and even the elder women of our society. And how, despite it all, women are more often than not the face of care.. usually willing to lend a hand and watch out for others. I'm so grateful, but so pissed off that it is this way. It shouldn't be this way. These women are in my thoughts always, for the strength of their love and the endurance of their soul. Because, in a group, it is too normal for these women to be treated as disposables, when they are true treasures. It is too easy to assume that we will have their love forever.

Hi Josh, I know there is a slim chance you read this but I was the guy who was at this show for my birthday. My friends and I had a great time! I would have liked to think of myself as someone who wouldn't get star struck, but that is exactly what happened lol. I had thought about what I wanted to say before we got to meet you briefly and then proceeded to not say any of it. What I wanted to say was, you're my favorite comedian because you're hilarious obviously, you are able to be vulnerable and you blend real world shit into your routines. Being able to laugh at our fucked up world makes it hold less weight. Leaving this comment after seeing the first 8 minutes. This is undoubtedly your best set yet. I was taken by suprise. The way you tackled that dark topic in contrast and at the same time in line with your well established persona is of another level entirely. It brought back memories of your "Catfishing the KKK" bit, but with all the honing and sharpening of the years that followed. It's like seeing someone who always loved to dance, after years of hard training and living for that dream, come back with all the gained qualities into the natural ease of his love for it. A true moment of happiness. Thank you.

I love your material but I thought I'd give you something to think about: when we see a group of men in certain conditions (night, you're alone. etc) the thing that's scariest is that it only takes ONE guy to make your life miserable or end your life because the worst thing we know is that the OTHER guys probably won't do anything. In fact, they might join in. Even if 4 of those 5 guys normally would never hurt a woman, they are very likely to just stand there if one of them decides to do something. That's reality.

And just when you're lulled into the story a hook comes by and smacks you in the face outta nowhere! Thats when you know someone knows their craft, and why Josh is absolutely my favorite 'new' comedian. Back to the old ways, with new content, and a fresh take on things. Love this guys content.

The real problem is that if you are carrying a knife and aren't 100% trained on how to use it, it is very easy for the other person to take your knife. And then THEY have a knife. And you do not.

Watching from Denver, Colorado, but lived in Austin in my late teens and early 20s… I have seen sixth Street closed. Not for the same reasons as you, but because I am visually impaired and got lost downtown one night really badly. It was quite the experience. Was too impoverished for tacos from the back alley food truck, but I can imagine the scene where that truck existed… Glad to see you made it out alive! 😊

*Little history nerd moment :* in old medieval Scandinavia, if women of your family or village were SAed, it was espected and totally normal to go after the agressor, even as a group. Oh, and the man was almost always banned, which was one of the worst punitions ever, since it ment being rejected from your ancestor's and gods' lands. I not saying it was the right thing to do, nor that wd should bring it back as such : it was partly because the assault was considered an attack on the entire clan/family's honor. What i'm saying though, is there was justice. And everyone participated to hold agressors accountable. There were public trials too, in front of the land's lord and such, sure (they wouldn't decide on banishments otherwise), but men were keeping men accountable. And even if it pains me to write it, the type who agress don't consider women, so men doing it, keeping the agressors in line, is the only way. Us women cannot get this problem delt with without men. It's teamwork for everyone's best interest (except the agressors, but f them)

In another life I was a route driver for the company that serviced the UT students. One of my timing stops was a quarter of a block from street food vendors. One guy offered the most gigantic egg rolls you can imagine. But they were a buck fifty. But absolutely delicious. Would dig deep on Fridays and get one. Dinner Friday night and lunch on Saturday. The Hmong make the best. He was in business for 25 years in that same spot. Read about his obituary while living in SLC. AND that was published in a major East coast NP. And yes, the funeral lasted 3 days 💕 R.I.P. Mr. Han

I'm not a woman, but I agree. The way for men to change their behavior is for men to police each other and teach how to be respectful, but the way for women to actually be safe is to be educated, heavily armed, and willing to safeguard themselves with lethal precision.

Can you please add to this bit about how women are being asked if they would rather see a bear in the woods or a strange man and we are picking the bear every time. Men are surprised because bears are “dangerous, unpredictable and can kill you” and women are like, yes but men are more dangerous and we have the stats to prove it.
