Your tortilla recipe seems to be very close to my late mom's recipe for tortillas. Like many Mexican moms, she never measured anything and just knew how much of everything to use, but this gives me just about enough insight to try to figure out the quantities on my own. Thank you.

Hey Joshua! Just a tip about the jalapeño salsa (or for any other salsa con chile). It was just great that you charred the jalapeños, specially doing on top of a gas stove it helps to cook them a little, and I went like "Finally! Someone is doing this right!". So, anyway: once you have a gas stove, open up those fresh jalapeños, take out the veins and the seeds, and just burn the heck out of them on the gas stove! Then take a white onion (cebolla cambray works out too, sorry, I don't know how you call those in the USA), cut a quarter and just burn it too. Those those in a blender (cut off the stem of the jalapeños first), do NOT clean the charred parts! You can add cilantro or green tomatoes (tomates verdes), the tomatoes must be charred too (you can also cook them on the oven if you don't want your stove to get too messy), add some salt, blend that and enjoy! You can do it with almost any other kind of fresh chile.

@@MagusakaJanus Most animals don't get liposuction treatments, so it's safe to assume that the lard is from from a butchered animal. If an animal was killed to get it, it isn't vegetarian. His point on the manchego is also valid for that reason, as some cheeses are made with rennet (calf stomach enzymes). Traditional manchego cheese is made with calf rennet.

People are making way too big a deal out of covid-19, while almost completely ignoring the flu. "the CDC has estimated (based on weekly influenza surveillance data) that at least 12,000 people have died from influenza between Oct. 1, 2019 through Feb. 1, 2020, and the number of deaths may be as high as 30,000." The CDC also estimates that up to 31 million Americans have caught the flu this season, with 210,000 to 370,000 flu sufferers hospitalized because of the virus."
@jordanjackson788
@jordanjackson788 4 жыл бұрын
@@lordgarion514 I agree people are blowing it out of proportion, but you aren't acknowledging the fact that we have a flu vaccine, and also tamiflu to help fight it if you already have it, we don't have either of those options with Covid-19.
@lordgarion514
@lordgarion514 4 жыл бұрын
@@jordanjackson788 Incorrect. I didn't mention it either way. But if they manage to meet estimates, then about half the country could get a flu shot. And if it's going to kill you, I doubt tamiflu would help. But none of that changes the fact that people are quite blasé about something that's transmitted about as easily, and has a long track record of killing tens of thousands on the regular. While absolutely shitting themselves over what's basically just the flu(as far as how it makes you feel) with a slightly higher death ratio that's infected very few in comparison. If the idiots freaking out now, had used their common sense and calmly been doing every flu season what they're doing now(which is exactly what they're told they should do every year), we'd have had millions less die and have to be hospitalized over the years. I was pointing out that it's kinda stupid. The extra details we've mentioned don't really change that. It's still stupid.

This is so worth learning to do. Restaurant prices keep going up and up. I swear only 10 years ago my wife and I could go out to breakfast in south texas and get a couple of breakfast plates for $5 total. We'd go out Sunday morning, buy a newspaper on the way in, drink coffee, do the crossword, eat our tacos and be able to pay and leave a good tip with about $10. Now, one breakfast plate is $8.50, and it cost me about $50 for a mexican breakfast for 3 people last time we went. Learn to make it yourself, and you can turn 20 cents worth of chorizo, 18 cents worth of egg, and a few pennies of flour and fat into the most delicious breakfast on the planet. I just had my mom over and cooked breakfast myself instead of going out. 8 ounces of chorizo is $1 at HEB. 12 eggs is $1.93. 20 lb of all-purpose flour is $10. So each chorizo and egg taco comes to 40 cents! And it's fun to do. I love making tortillas.
