In this video, I used the Nanami Cafe Note A6 and the Diplomat Magnum fountain pen with the Pilot Iroshizuku Yama-Budo Ink.

If you're having trouble finding the products, to go chicsparrow.com/laurenfairweather and click the New tab, where you can scroll down. Both color options are in one listing, and there's a dropdown menu to choose between matching and colorful pockets. If you can't find it there, try going to Notebook Covers > All Products > Sort New to Old and the Fairweather pen closure and cascade cover are on that page. That’s because it was a limited edition and they no longer sell it, sadly. Sometimes you can find people selling them in Chic Sparrow buy sell trade groups on Facebook though! I’m in two of them and that’s how I get retired designs I missed. Thank you for your interest in my design! 💕

SO, I finally ordered my journal cover. ⛅ I saved all my pennies and was hoping they'd still have one for me. I still have a few Fairweather Friends necklace/charms and I'm going to try and convert the otter one I have to a TN charm. I love, love, love the clouds on the inside. I chose the colorful ones. I'm so happy for you! This launch was so cool and I am enjoying this channel grow. So much love to you.

Aww, thank you so much! I know the feeling; I’ve tried not to guilt myself too much about adding to my collection when something really speaks to me, because changing up my setup (even to something I haven’t used in a while) renews my energy for journaling. It’s part of the fun for me, heh. They’re in stock at the moment too, even the pen holder which sold out pretty fast after the first few restocks.

Thank you! They've already added more colorful covers once (this is the second time they've sold out), so having that alert set up is definitely a good idea. Once they make the ones that have been purchased, they'll see how much leather they have left before restocking!

To answer your question, on the exactly one spread I did, I kept the things I added (not counting writing/drawing) very neat and geometric. I suspect that will end up being my default style, so no overlapping the page. Such a pretty journal cover! I can only imagine the joy and satisfaction from designing something like that and having a professionally made project afterwards -- *that other people can buy!* Super cool.

@@JournalSunshine I do have a question though. Mine has very fine wrinkles that I can feel throughout the folio in the front and back. I know every piece is unique, but is that typical? From the video yours looks completely smooth with no wrinkles at all, but it’s a video and it’s not so easy to tell I’m sure.

Yes! Leather has wrinkles and every piece will have unique differences. Chic Sparrow uses as much of the hide as they can (unlike other companies that charge way more because they waste way more to try and get each piece “perfect”) so you’re likely to have a notebook made from a leather piece that looks different from mine. It’s all part of the fun for me - not knowing exactly what yours will look like until it arrives. (I got a very smooth colorful one while the back of my all-brown one has wrinkles.)

@@JournalSunshine okay thank you so much for that. This is going to sound stupid but being that I am so new to this, i just wanted to make sure the wrinkles wouldn’t eventually crack or something . The leather is gorgeous. Mine has some marks on the front that looks like a constellation to me lol. I’m a total star gazer so it was so meant to be mine.

I got the brown cloud pocket folio! I could just imagine myself getting tired of the colorful pockets. But something I noticed is that I bought the folio at a lower price than it is currently listed for. Not sure what happened there, but happy to save $.

Lovely video, and I'm excitedly looking forward to the arrival of my Fairweather covers! I'm curious about the header you put on your page. What does the "11" stand for? Is that a page number, or something else? I am always interested in hearing about other people's journaling systems, since I can't seem to settle very well into one for myself!

Haha yeah, it’s the date. I was trying to capture the vibe of like, the Hobonichi Techo daily pages that have the big date in the corner with the day of the week next to it and the month under that.

I'll be interested in your review of the Diplomat Magnum pen as I purchased the same pen. Mine has an extra fine nib and at the moment I'm using a cartridge of Monteverde Charoite ink. The nib doesn't seem to be very robust but considering the modest price of this pen I have no complaints.

I am not a foundation pen user but the way the cover looks with the pen holder is what is enticing me to purchase. I just wish there were more videos w different pens in the holder with your cover. I am thinking of purchasing some mini pens but I wonder if they will look like there is too much extra room since the pens the holder was made for are fatter.

My KZfaq videos take a few weeks to make, so it would be a longer wait (and I have other videos I’ve already been working on so I’m not sure when/if a full video like that would happen). But if your pens have clips on them, it doesn’t matter as much how big the spaces are, you can clip them to the leather and they won’t slip through.

Yeah, they’re made by nanamipaper.com and that’s where they sell them. Sometimes you have to wait for them to come back in stock if they don’t have a certain size available.

Haha aww! Yes, I'm receiving a portion of the profits for designing them, and I get extra affiliate commission for referring people who use my link or the coupon code for 10% off. I know that they can be expensive, but they're really beautifully made in the US with very high quality materials that improve with age, so you do get what you pay for with this sort of thing if you choose to spend it! I've purchased quite a few covers from Chic Sparrow since I found out about them in 2017 and have since stopped using the covers I bought from brands in the $30 range when I started out. At the time, I wasn't sure it would be worth it for me personally to spend more than that, and have learned since then that it is. But everyone's different! If it's not for you, that's more than okay with me. You can make beautiful journal pages with any materials! 🙂
