I have the TWSBI Eco and TWSBI CLASSIC both in white, they are a hot to write with. I want this one as well. The medium is a little too thick for me so after using fountain pens for a little while I think I like the extra fine and fine Nibs the best

I love the mini's too. I don't have this one yet, but I have a clear mini and a smoke vac mini (actually I am waiting on a new cap for my vac mini, but it will be here soon). The vac minis are excellent: 1. Holds more ink. 2. Easier to fill. 3. Much easier to disassemble and clean.

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on the AL Sport! I have three of the plastic Sports and recently purchased the Brass Sport. I love the feel of the brass, but it is way too heavy for me to write with for long sessions, and my Kaweco Classic Sport is the primary fountain pen that I use for journaling. I was hoping that the brass version would become my primary, but since it causes hand fatigue, I think I'll try the AL Sport. I'm hoping that it will be the Goldilocks pen, heavier than the plastic sport, which is a little too light, but way lighter than the brass. It sounds like you love the AL for the same reason.

I keep telling myself I'll just buy one more and then I say it again. I have 2 TWSBI ECOs in 8:13 fine, medium and an ECO-T stub. My nect purchases are a Travelers Brass and a Pilot Custom 74. I also have 3 Kaweco Sports, a Pilot Metro, a Diplomat Magnum and an Opus 88 Mini in Cheer Kitty. My favorite nib is medium.
@natmickanАй бұрын
My favourite budget pen will always be the Platinum Preppy (or Prefounte, or Plaisir). I love Platinum’s Medium nibs because I’m a sucker for heavy shading inks and they have the same nibs in the Preppy, Prefounte and Plaisir (basically disposable-style body, acrylic body, and metal body respectively). At such a low price point, I love that I can get a few and keep them inked up (they say 1yr and it’ll write like you just put it down, but I’ve had some I’ve gone back to 4+ yers later and they write like no time has passed), plus I can eyedropper convert them, AND not feel bad about leaving it somewhere/penabling someone else with one. I highly recommend trying one out if you get a chance (in case you couldn’t already tell 😅)

Does the elastic knot in the back mess you up when you're writing?
@JournalSunshineАй бұрын
I haven’t had that issue, but I usually have enough inserts and accessories that block it. Initially, I started with covers from Chic Sparrow which put the knot along the spine, and I ended up really liking both styles!

Omg! I am so with you! ♥️ I have two of these minis in most of the main colors and have at least one of each of the special colors. I would completely freak out if they released this in the iris colorway! I’m not a big fan of purple but I do love the iris iridized look! This pen has ruined my ability to enjoy other pens! It really ticks all my boxes. I’m so happy seeing it get some love on some KZfaq channels! Ty for your video! ♥️ As far as the nib is concerned- it does write broader and juicier than a Japanese nib, but the lovely smoothness of it is worth a little compromise. I also like to write microscopically but have learned how write in a way that makes me happy with the TWSBI. Don’t forget, if you really want to experiment, you could always have a “nib moister” grind the point down a bit finer for you or into a neat shape, like an architect nib! ♥️

Ahh your collection sounds amazing! I’d love to get a custom nib grind someday. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and time with me!

I feel EXACTLY the same way (about 6 minutes into the video, LOL). The only difference is that my favourite is the rose gold colour, in a M nib. The plastic sports are too light in hand and I don’t write well with them. The AL Sport is my Goldilocks “just write”. I have several TWSBI ECOs (regular and T), a Lamy Safari, and several Platinum Prefountes (which I quite like and are super inexpensive), as well ass a few other ALs in different colours & finished (vibrant violet, Iguana blue, Petrol) but if I had to live with only one FP the rest of my life it would be my rose gold AL Sport in M. The texturing on the other colours really changes the feel & movement in hand, and while I enjoy them, they just aren’t the same, so my favourite ink (Noodler’s Black Swan in Australian Roses) is always in my rose gold :)

Your channel is awesome. All the things! Pens, notebooks, and all while eating sourdough bread! And the guitar! LOVE the music…will definitely be checking that out too! I love Ginko leaves. Me and my son were challenged to find a Ginko leaf for a science project. No one could find a Ginko tree down here in Ga. When I finally did, at a McDonalds parking lot, I picked tons of them up. The next day I walked into the high school break room, and the kids were wanting to pay me for them. Of course I said no. But secretly gave them the leaves and told them, to write down different locations in the state of Ga. Of where they found them. Needless to say, I was the coolest Mom ever. BTW, 50 different leaf specimens front and back, in a photo album, properly labeled with a cool “junk journal” looking cover. It’s still displayed on our shelf in my living room. Sorry so long. My son is 34 now. And we both know what a Ginko tree looks like! lol! Thx for letting me know me rant. ❤🙏🏻🥰. And where did you get that notebook? 🥁🥁🥁

Ahh oh my gosh, what a cool story! I love them too. This notebook is a traveler’s company traveler’s notebook in passport size, the olive color. The embossings and leaf patch were added by Baum-kuchen studio’s Truly Yours service, which they make available online!

Twsbi Ecos and other Twsbi pens are no different from other pens, flushing the pen using the piston is really all that is needed and full disassembly isn't recomended due to the fragility of Twsbi pens (they easily develop stress cracks). The reason you find it hard to clean it is due to the ink, I love shimmer inks but they are an absolute nightmare to clean in every pen, I have dedicated "shimmer pens" with whom I only use a particular type of shimmer so that I don't have to bother with cleaning them too often.

I have 3 twsbi, 1 eco and 2 eco-T. Eco-T are really the best. EF nibs, I write with them (of course 🤷) but I bought them for sketching (or at least trying 🙄). My cleaning process is easy : (gently) remove the nib after several washing ànd drying with a Q-tip before replacing the nib. Don't be afraid to remove the nib, it is very easy, protect it with a tissue while (gently) turning and replace the same eventually.

I started journaling with A5 hardcover journals (LT1917) and sitll have a stash of both regular and 120gsm tucked away. I need paper that can handle fountain pens without bleedthrough. Minimal to moderate ghosting is okay. I have a reading journaling setup for journaling on the go. It holds my Kindle Paperwhite and a B6 hc journal (Conifer View w/5mm dot grid). The passport size is cute, but would fill up so fast, I suspect, so B6 slim is something I may have to give a go.

Thank you. I got a replacement nib too as I like EF. This nib writes far better. It also comes in gold plated and 18 carat for less than £6 although I stuck with the silver in keeping with the one on there. I also got the rollerball units so I could swap out the FP nib occasionally, effectively giving me two pens in one. Great advice.

@tonibat594 ай бұрын
For Kaweco nibs, try the Premium steel ones. Not much different, but they are built to higher quality control standards. For the slight increase in price, it's worth it. Moreover, they (are claimed to) have a larger, better iridium tip. The gold Kaweco nibs, I wouldn't expect much from them. The quality of Kaweco pens (of any pen indeed) is in their smooth writing. And smoothness oftentimes increases with rigidity, not the other way around, if combined with good build, grind and tuning.. Now, steel is stiffer than gold. For any degree of build quality, a steel nib should give you a smoother write. Gold nibs are softer, they flex more and can give more variation in the width, but not more smoothness. Their better writing results mostly from better build and quality controls. (Their high price 'justifiies' spending more time on them. The maker believes the customes will be willing to pay more. And he is usually correct). In summary, if what you want is smooth writing and don't care about caligraphy nor variation in thickness, get a steel nib built to the highest standards that you find and can afford. PS. For a proof of this, try some well-built steel nibs (which are rare!). Try for instance the nibs from Faber Castell or Otto Hutt. There's no gold nib that can beat them. People come utterly surprised at their smoothness, because they don't understand these arguments.. One last note: One would think that a good option would be a gold nib with more weight to give it more stiffness. But that's virtually impossible, if you recall that gold comes at aroung $60 per gram. No nib maker is interested in going that direction. Quite the opposite. Gold nibs are optimized for low weight and are thinner. That makes them even softer, but never smoother (other things being equal).
