In this week's Friday episode, Patrick and Stuart get a long-awaited delivery for the chateau kitchen. Their massive range cooker (piano de cuisson) finally arrives and is installed in the cuisine.
Join Patrick and Stuart on their journey to find a neglected, forgotten, or crumbling château or castle in France, and then continue to follow them as they work on its restoration, rénovation, decoration, and furnishing. Along the way, they will also create and share videos on their preparation for having gîtes for guests, and an event venue in their chateau (wedding, birthday, anniversary, organization or club meetings, retreats, etc.).

You've struck such a great balance between modern yet charming. There's nothing jarring of an ultra modern kitchen in a several hundred year old building. Thank you and enjoy that beautiful beast. I have stove envy. 😊

Thank you Linda. We wanted that balance. The cabinets could be 1900s and the cooker looks like from the 1870s. How fantastic. We saw chateaux with ultra modern kitchens….. it is a look but not ours. Love your comment. ❤❤

I see you two walk through the house and there's torn paper or peeling paint but you have decorated her so charmingly that she just looks like an elegant woman of a certain age that's a little scathed by life but strong and beautiful and still drawing all the attention in the room. 😘

The cooker is beautiful! I am so impressed by the workmen also. Their company could use your video as advertisement! I felt so confident watching them that I had No Concern that everything is installed correctly. I love how it and the heater fit so well inside the original beautiful fireplace. Thrilling!

What an amazing stove! And it arrived just in time for the currents! ♥️♥️♥️ OMG, the post office stamp is hilarious! It’s like the word “defenestration” - how many people were pushed out of windows that they needed a word rather than using a phrase to describe it. 😉 I’m glad that they gave you a back-up for The Claw, so you won’t be stuck. 👍 And I noticed a fourth thing - you seem to have gotten a lot of rain, which is fantastic… and less work keeping things going in your potagé. ♥️♥️♥️ And I presume no hail like they had in Germany - Patrick, I hope your family was missed by the storm. 🤞

Love your Lacanche stove. We have the exactly the same one in Australia, it cooks beautifully. A lot of my friends don’t like the fact you can’t see what’s in the oven! It makes the best Pavlova’s and Sponges. It was well worth the wait and we had ours 3 months before the kitchen was completed. We panicked when our builder said his men wouldn’t be able to lift it in place, to which l said, of course you can and l went for a walk!

Good morning Stuart & Patrick, Now that is a stove!! Most befitting corner stone for the kitchen!! It really is magnificent, I hope it gives many hours of happy cooking, baking and jam and preserve making. The red currents will be a most suitable first preserve. We are presently removing/chopping out our peach tree because of the birds inhaling the fruit every season, the frustration that we experience every season is not worth it, besides fertilising and watering. If I had the space I would erect a wire cage that only bees and good pollinators can fly through and have peace of mind. Tony and Jane are your most dear friends, and if I were in your position , I would invite them first and foremost to come and share my joy in the kitchen. It has been a long wait, but you kept your cool and now it has been delivered, installed and he even gave a brief introduction to how the stove operates which makes it much easier you can read up on all the other functions later. You know what, it was worth the frustration and wait. You have what you wanted and you will be happy for many years to come. It was a lovely video to share with us, I do not really pay particular attention to other people's daily lives, not interested, buy yours is truly a Journey to the Chateaux, an unknown venture you have stepped into and it is getter better all the time. My word, what a relief. I thought it was looking distressingly suburban and I was absolutely forbidden to say anything, but the cooker DID change everything! The fireplace area is the completest thing. A big basket of firewood on one side and endless holiday decoration ideas available. Very pretty indeed.

Thank you Elizabeth. We knew exactly what we wanted. Laconche makes cookers since 1870. I just sat down, looking at the fireplace and it now looks much closer to what it was between 1890 and 1960. I am having some ideas as well. Love your comment. ❤❤

The dogs on the lift gave me a heart attack 🤣😲😂. This range is so amazingly pretty. We are sooooo close to do the whole reveal and it feels great. 😊. Finally. If I’d have been asked, if I would ever own this kind of a stove….. I’d have laughed. We budgeted for it and I think it fits into the chateau kitchen like a glove. We have propane gas, too. We can lose electricity during tropical storms. We also have a house generator so the well operates during those tropical storms and hurricanes. We are in rural Virginia by the Chesapeake Bay.

It was Christmas for you guys.... three miracles happend ...the beautiful coocker .. the tractor being picked-up and leaving a temperary tractor...and the options you got for the damaged chandeliers. You will figure out what the best option is. The guys who delivered and installed the cooker did a great job as John helping them. Now that the kitchen is mostly finished you it's hard to image how it looked before. Such a transformation. This is one large job done. 👍👍 Hugs and Kisses also for the 🐕 11x furries. 🥰😘🌞👌

Hello darling. There are the frost flowers blooming from the bulbs you sent. Wonderful. 😊❤😊 It is true. Hard to think how dark and sticky the old kitchen was. 😂. That cooker is a thing of beauty! I don't know how you'll ever use it! I've just had mine professionally cleaned and I'm loathe to use it, it's so clean so how you will cope with dirtying that, heaven knows!!!! Salads for ever and just look at it! Well done! 😊

I'm having major stove envy! That's just gorgeous! I have a full gas stove, and I love it. I'd never go back to an electric stove! Instant heat, no waiting for ages for ovens to heat to bake, great grill separate from the oven... I'm ranting here, but oh that stove of yours is every cook's dream! Beautifully finished, even shiny knobs! Oh the baking I could do with 2 ovens...... jealous much 😉😊 Big hugs xx

My dear friend. It was a dream and we never thought we’d ever own one. It is really heavy and using an oven……. It stays cool to the touch…. Fantastic. It looks like it was here for 120 years. Tomorrow is the first exciting dish in the making cow au vin from Alsace……. With white wine and cream……. And 3 more courses. Hugs as always. ❤😊❤

What a fabulous Cooker! You both knew what was needed in that space and you patiently waited for its arrival… like awaiting the birth of a baby … after a short while one only remembers the beautiful moment when it arrived and is being used. You have excellent taste. Love how you tiled the area behind the wood stove from top to bottom and continued on the right wall (our view) with the same lovely tiles through the peeping area and so on. …I am delighted for you!👏⭐️
