"Force directed forward rather than side to side" I have never thought about that way. The affect on my natural arm swing must be why I hate running with anything in my hands. Great vid!

Fantastic! I really like how you break down the swing phase into 4 subphases. It should be noted that a runner's foot goes from zero speed at toeoff, to a speed much higher than running speed during midswing (to overtake the body), back to virtually zero just before footstrike. The hip flexors and hamstrings are doing a lot of work during the swing phase to accelerate and decelerate the foot!

Hey JP! Exactly what I was looking for concerning heel whip. I've been out for 3 months last winter due to a peroneal tendonitis and I'm pretty sure heel whip was one of the reason. Espacially on treadmill where the belt seems to push the ankle inward even more. I'm now back to full training (90-100 mpw with hard workouts without any pain) but sometimes it only took like 20 minutes or running with the wrong pair of shoes or on the treadmill and it flares up a bit. I've already integrated a lot of hip mobility and strengthening into my routine. What's the most important exercices I should focus on? I'm really close to having a cross over gait too. It's seems better and a bit more "square" now. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks! Cheers!

What about analyzing joints extension from lowest position of body after foot landing (all joints flexed) until toe off. Do the extending joints and tendon recoil launch the runner in a parabolic "flight" to the next foot strike of opposite foot?

Really interesting. I did a 3d running analysis yesterday and my knee bend during the swing phase is not close to 90°. Also my step rate is too slow, so my knee does not have to come forward so fast + as I am just a beginner my push from the ground is not energetic enough yet. How do you work on the push off form the ground?

It takes a lot of speed and strength to run like these guys for a long distance so you have to work your way up to it. Add in some speedwork to your running routine. Pick one day a week to run shorter distances on a track. I don't know what distance you run or what you're training for but 8x200m is pretty common for distance runners. Throw in some strides after your easy runs. For about 100m, run fast and relaxed and try your best to look like Eliud Kipchoge!

If you are talking about the blue overlay, I actually place it manually into each frame using Adobe animation

@@JPGloria Thank you for letting me know. I wanted to analyze my posture now. I'm rehabbing with a knee injury this year, and my right leg is activating later than expected.
