A few people are asking that. God willing, I will get around to laying out some concerns in a video (but I am mindful that I don't know much and I have zero authority). Meanwhile, if you read the text from Luisa's writings featured at 43 mins in this video (from her Diary, Vol.9, 19 Aug 1910), it leaves me confounded how anyone can think this stuff is from Heaven. It is just like Mohammed's suspicions of the spirits who visited him. It is altogether horrible. I cannot think of any inspired book or any saint or any approved apparition which involves such material. [I'll see if I can copy and paste it here in a minute.] I don't get it with so many so-called modern 'devotions'. We have Holy Mass and the Sacraments, we have Sacred Scripture, the writings of the Fathers and lives of the Saints, we have the Holy Rosary, approved litanies, devotions to the Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart, the Nine First Fridays and Five First Saturdays, plus so much which ties in with the calendar that is of long custom and wholesome. All these seem to reinforce each other, build on each other, integrate with each other. Of course the Church is infinitely fruitful and new things can be expected to arise. But when they throw themselves centre stage and demand all one's attention and claim to be a new key for salvation, I find that beyond weird. It's not my place to tell anyone to avoid or to follow the DW. But I think it smells very suspicious.

Does Catholic instinct draw us into these writings, or repel us from them? (I am profoundly repulsed by them.) From Luisa's Diary, Diary, Vol.9, 19 Aug 1910: "Then, the following day, again, I found myself outside of myself, inside a garden, and I was following the via crucis [way of the cross]; and while doing this, I found Jesus in my arms. As I arrived at the eleventh station, blessed Jesus, no longer able to resist, stopped me, and drawing His mouth near mine, He poured something thick and liquid into it. The liquid I was able to swallow, but the thick part would not go down, so much so, that when Jesus moved His mouth from me, I had to pour it to the ground. Then I looked at Jesus, and I saw that a liquid, thick and pitch-black, was flowing from His mouth. I was frightened very, very much, and I said to Him: “It seems to me that You are not Jesus, Son of God, and of Mary Mother of God - but the devil. It is true that I want You, that I love You, but it is always Jesus that I want, never the devil - with him I want nothing to do. I am content with being without Jesus, rather than having anything to do with the devil.’ And to be more sure, I marked Jesus with the sign of the cross, and then I signed myself. In order to dispel my fright, Jesus withdrew that black liquid into Himself, which was impossible to look at, and He told me: “My daughter, I am not the devil; what you see is nothing but the great iniquities that creatures do against Me, and which I will pour upon them, for I can no longer contain them. I poured some into you, and you were unable to contain everything, so you poured it to the ground. I will continue to pour upon them.”

The late bishop of Trani, Luisa's diocese, said that anyone who says that the writings of Luisa are evil, heresy or wrong scandalize the faithful who follow this devotion. Be careful what you say. Obedience is still needed to be observed.

I believe your views on the Divine Will information from Jesus, as written down by the servant of God, Luisa Picaretta are misguided, potentially by a secondary source that has either miscommunicated or twisted the actual teachings. Any individual passage has to be put in context with the corpus of writings, mystical theology and a correct interpretation that aligns with the teachings of the Church as multiple Vatican censors and bishops have said there is nothing contrary to the faith in these writings. As someone who is also familiar with Kabbalah and other esoteric religions/philosophies, as well as the Divine Will writings (having read all volumes multiple times), I must say they couldn't be further apart from one another. The writings on the Divine Will are fully in line with Scripture and Tradition, fully approved by the Church and recommended by many great saints including St Annibale, St Pio and St Pope Pius X (Pope Pius actually exclaimed that Luisas writings, specifically the Hours of the Passion, were Jesus speaking and should be read on one's knees). I actually just watched a short presentation on the Divine Will specifically for Priests and Bishops and will link it in a follow up comment. I pray you give it a listen and if you are interested in a more full treatise on the matter, I would recommend the book Thy will be done be professor Daniel O'Connor, or the Pontifically approved doctoral dissertation by Fr Iannuzi. I know you have a mind and thirst for truth, and wish to share that truth with other for the glory of God and salvation of souls. You will find no greater outlet for those qualities than from diving more deeply into the verifiable and true life and writings of Luisa on God's Will.

Father, I'm reading both volumes of "If You Believed Moses" and am learning so much. My problem is summing up in a paragraph or two for those Catholics that tell me bombing Gaza is somehow okay because "God gave Israel to the Jews or that He will bless them that bless the Jews"? I attended Villa Maria Academy in Buffalo NY. We had "Marriage Class" where some women came in and taught us contraception orders of then Bishop Head.
