When Daryl stepped up for Rick he cemented a profound bond and friendship between them Daryl is such a loyal dude We all need a Daryl.

The way I read the Randall and Daryl scene, Randall looked at Daryl and assumed he was the kind of ruthless, violent man that would fit right in with Randall's group. I think he told Daryl that story about the man and his daughters because he genuinely thought that kind of thing would appeal to Daryl and he could convince Daryl to free him and throw in with his group. The tone of his voice when he's telling that story sounds like he's throwing out bait. But then he saw the look on Daryl's face and knew he had seriously misjudged him, so he immediately tried to backtrack, claiming that he didn't take part in it and that he wasn't like the other men in his group. He tried to do the same thing with Carl, only that time he tried to make it sound like his group would be a safe and welcoming place for Carl and his family. You can't blame him for trying to talk his way out of being killed, but imo, he would happily join Rick's group and he would just as happily betray them to his own group. Whichever benefits him the most. Great reaction, guys! Can't wait for the next two episodes!

Best way I've seen someone explain that scene, 100% agree, the kid was betwen Beth (15) & Maggie (22)'s age so he was just tryna fit in wherever he was & Daryl without a doubt came off like a Merle type.

I believe 100% if they all wanted Randell dead they all should’ve had to watch. You don’t get to decide and then hide and pretend it’s not happening. Face your choice.

Agreed. Can’t go hiding in your tent like Dale said, stand behind it

One of the most impacting scenes early in the series Dale just wanted to be heard express himself and not lose hope as a human being He was always the voice of reason. Daryl is the true MVP here. As the group’s second in command Shane should have carried the weight when Rick couldn’t bring himself to do what was necessary and end Dale’s suffering and that’s not a negative comment on Rick Rick’s the one with the burden of leadership and all his decisions affect the group The sudden loss of Dale was too much for Rick to take after the loss of Sophia and quarrel over what to do with Randall. Unlike Shane Daryl showed he would help Rick carry the weight Daryl replaced Shane as second in command the moment he put down Dale.

Rip Dale gone way too soon, the sad thing is Dale wasn’t supposed to die this season, he was supposed to die in season 5 but Jeffrey DeMunn who played Dale wanted to leave after Frank Darabont who was the producer on the show was fired, they were friends, Frank Darabont worked with the actors actress who plays Dale, Andrea, Carol, Shane and Morales, after filming Dale Death, the actor changed his mind but it was too late

I don’t see how Dale would have lasted until season 5. This character would not have survived future seasons. He refused to adapt to the changing paradigm, desperately clinging to the old world.

The reason Dale died was because that the actor (Jeffrey DeMunn) was Friends with the director (Frank Darabont) of the show and the director got fired so the actor wanted to leave as well

lol great reaction to this episode, even though dale was holding onto the old world in this new “survival of the fittest” world, it’s still sad to see a voice of reason to go so soon, makes you think how his death is gonna impact everyone individually especially after his big speech “how are we any better than those people were so afraid of?” and “this group is broken” that’s gotta weigh heavy on everyone’s minds now going forward to either honor dales words and try to keep their humanity or take the shane route changing with and accepting this new world! can’t wait for the next reaction!

the fact that Dale died in the way that he did & he never found out that Randall was spared HURTS. I for one LOVED that we had Dale standing up for the moral side of things here, it was a phenomenally acted scene

it was Frank Darabont who was the showrunner of Season 1 and executive producer for half of Season 2 Frank was fired because of budget reasons when that happened Jeffery DeMunn wanted to leave the show because he was upset over his friend getting fired it’s like no him then no me if I remember it was actually Frank who convinced Jeffrey to be on the show plus they have worked together before Also Jeffery changed his mind last minute but they already wrote his last episode so it was too late I really loved Dale he sure was a type of person I’d talk to he was the voice of reason in the group still to this day I still miss Dale.

Dale wasn’t actually supposed to die here the original plan for him was to make it to Season 5 there is a scene I woulda loved to see Dale in Season 5 but they had him replaced personally I think it woulda been better if Dale survived to Season 5.

Surprised hershel wasn’t with dale and didn’t want to spare Randell he’s a man of god like he wanted to save walkers a few episodes ago and now he doesn’t want anything to do with saving a man’s life crazy how much he’s changed and adapted and dales death makes Carl guilty in the feature episodes he mentions him a couple times

Carl that lil brat. I blame his mother, in the damn ZA she should have had that boy chain to her, then she told him to go into the house and lock himself inside, she should have made sure he was locked inside bcuz as we saw he didn’t listen bcuz he was out there in the field right next to her. R.I.P. Dale. And omg i could never look at the walker again after the first time I saw it gross. Daryl showing himself to be Rick’s right hand man bcuz once again Shane froze.

This is the episode that cemented my hate for Dale. Its not that he has a naive point of view (whatever), its that he gets outvoted three separate times and then proceeds to throw a temper tantrum because in his mind, his way is the only right way. BYE DALE, glad you were dinner.
