Seems if you have rust any coating is gone . I know this is 7 years ago but evapo rust is your friend and fuel filters for what’s left

So how did you get the rust crust out? There's that cylinder lip in the fill of the tank that I can't figure how it would come out.

i flushed it lots. ime going to run a fuel filter for any residual thow. im sure its not perfect .

Hey man I appreciate your videos I have a 87 700 Virgo and the gas cap is stuck on I've tapped it and tried wd-40 on the key hole hoping you have a tip thanks for making the videos man

drilling it might be your only option unfortunately. i would try to find another cap first i dont know how hard it would be to find

I just had the same problem. I got it open by putting the key in & using a small screwdriver to get some leverage and it popped.

What type of oil did you put in the tank to keep it from rusting?

@@JunkworksGarage ok thanks. I inherited a 85 virago 1000 after my brother died. I got it running but it won't charge the battery & the tank is full of rust. These videos are helping me a lot.
