Also pays to remove black plastic carby intake manifold and only two screws. As O ring inside also O ring outside and high revs if perished. Inside one easily replaced from an O ring kit as small diameter. Also pays to check carby seat, as mine had some sort of black gummy restriction. Was it from a rubber tipped aftermarket metal needle that had fitted? Who knows, and when poked wire into aftermarket seat it came out and maybe should have tried to lap it as well being chineseium, haha. But carby cleaner probably just as good an option if had any. Yes, using original carby cover/needle/seat if primer bulb intact a wise move. Just replaced pistons in one that am working on and not even mine, but still not running smoothly so maybe aftermarket needle sticking in aftermarket seat. But if worn also likes to flood, so float travel has to be inspected. Also check plastic governor port if hose been disconnected for a while, as tiny mud wasps like to build in every little orifice around here. Also pays to remove on a teardown as outlet tube easily broken. Magneto can be gapped with a business card and if any freeplay in flywheel pays to fit thick washer to simulate base plate and nut. Turn flywheel by hand to observe spark from grounded spark plug fitted every time passes magnet. Like the paint job and something worth considering if ever get one to refurbish for sale. Now that know my way around these mowers thanks to a neighbour friend. Did he wreck the pistons in two motors by not mixing fuel properly or was the carby sucking air from worn inlet manifold O ring causing it to over rev or overheat ? Something i will probably never know at this stage of the game.

Very knowledgeable, it is hard to find videos on 2 stroke mowers, would be realy good if you could show in close up detail how to rebuild a 2 stroke carburettor and how to just clean one.

Powertorque motor: the greatest lawn mower engine ever made, let down by cheap carburetors! Still, I found a new one at a mower shop the other week and had to have it... Congrats on the 1000 subscribers, great to see your little assistant having fun with it all.

Mystyler 13 I quite enjoy the carburettors on these, the aftermarket parts are a rubbish fit though, luckily I have some very limited amounts of genuine new parts on hand. She’s been having a great time being my camera lady. Cheers 👍

What did you use to clean the carburettor parts? This is so helpful, I found a Victa Power Torque on the grass verge the other day and want to fix it up for myself.

I have a parts washer thats got diesel running through it. You can also generally get away with either petrol, carb cleaner aerosol or the export branded degreaser.

I am sooooo impressed! One day Id love to completely recondition dad's old mower. Great video. I'm a 57yo lady with a Victa Mustang 18, very similar to the one featured. I learned how to change spark plug, remove and clean my carby (still awaiting new parts), but it was enough to get my dads mower to start after 10 years. My problem is the thing starts after many pulls but then conks out very quickly. Any tips? Thanks so much!

I changed the Carby Oring, she goes now but revving too high, no idle - would I need a brass washer or s'thing else?

Great video and really helpful in seeing how they go together. I was surprised how basic they are like off comes the pull starter and there is the conrod simple. I think the carb is the most complex thing on it. Where do you get parts from for them? Thanks.

hi I have a issue where this vitca will die out if it's tilted one side only like on a hill gives a really high rev before dies out slowly, doesn't happen on the other side tilted of the mower, if I level back it will start up before it slowly dies out.. I tried pumping the primer when it's tilted and dying out but doesn't change anything unless it's level

quite likely a fuel flow problem, I have often found that if you dont rout the fuel line in a particular way it can have a big play on what you have described. Runing the fuel line over the top of the carb and around to the front rather that under it and up to the primer has fixed this for me before. though there is an edger here that I never got sorted, just used to run with it to finish the strip before it stalled.

That's a very early PT and it continues to power through the grass. I was in year 7 when that was made. A pity the bodies collapse around them.

Good job. I've never really got my hands on a Victa 2 stroke to learn anything so this was really interesting. I used to have a Scott Bonner reel mower but my Victa 4 stroke is more practical. My cousin's got a Victa VC160 he's trying to restore ATM. It's had a new piston & rings etc but he can't get it started cos he says the coil is stuffed and they're no longer available. Would you have one for sale or would it be better to fit one of those ignition modules?
@junkyarddog87
@junkyarddog87 5 жыл бұрын
they are not terribly hard to find, I do still come across the old full crank 160 motors from time to time. Just a matter of keeping an eye out particularly at the tip shops, youll find that coil was used in a lot of engines.

I been watching lately and have been enjoying your videos.. when you cleaned the coil you test it? what Ohm range is recommended and what range makes it dead i have one showing 15.01ohm
@tatko3366
@tatko3366 3 жыл бұрын
15.01ohm should be right if later model magneto. Not sure about earlier ones, but info from pushmower repair online. Just spin flywheel by hand and observe grounded plug. Most problems stem from plastic carby. Also put in remote kill switch on mine and hole needs to be filled so not to draw dirt into carby body. But probably a lot easier to just replace rubber kill switch boots when all said and done.

Also how do you change the HT Lead on the coil as mine has split or been cut.
@tatko3366
@tatko3366 3 жыл бұрын
The later model coils have it fixed permanently but maybe earlier style coils can have lead replaced. Extended mine using two red crimp joiners rather than solder. Also heat shrink and silicone tape to reinforce connections, then more heat shrink over top. Insulation/silicon tape can be secured with cable ties each end. The crimps that used had a little barrier in the center so crimped one side at a time using some 2.5 ml earth wire that had here. Also being a retired sparky have the proper crimping tool.
