Jurassic World Dominion is a 2022 American science fiction action film directed by Colin Trevorrow, who co-wrote the screenplay with Emily Carmichael. Based on a story by Trevorrow and Derek Connolly, it is a sequel to Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018), the third and final film in the Jurassic World trilogy, and the sixth installment overall in the Jurassic Park franchise, concluding the storyline from the original Jurassic Park trilogy. As with its predecessors, Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley produced the film with Trevorrow and Jurassic Park (1993) director Steven Spielberg as executive producers. The film stars an ensemble cast including Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, Sam Neill, DeWanda Wise, Mamoudou Athie, BD Wong, and Omar Sy. Dern, Goldblum, and Neill reprise their roles from the Jurassic Park trilogy, appearing together for the first time since the 1993 film.

Sad thing is that there ARE many good screenwriters writing new, bold, experimental scripts, but the film industry (like every other capitalist industry) is so single-mindedly fixated on massive, immediate profits that they just refuse to take any risks on them, instead, they rely on safe formulas that they know will draw in money, and milk em for as long as physically possible by forcing the formula into EVERY main major film they make until they get worn and unprofitable. They choose bad directors and writers because they don't care about quality, they want to make as much money as possible and use their formulas to get it, not the style of any director or the script. They are the ULTIMATE scavengers, as, like vultures, they will immediately descend on any major successful film and analyze it so they can force those tropes, character types, storylines, factions, even cinematography, color patterns/schemes, plot points/twists, etc. Onto their future films to get on the gravy train. This happened with Marvel - the first films were such a financial success the film industry studied what made them successful and applied those findings to nearly every major film they produced since, which is why so many movies oddly feel like Marvel movies today - like Jurassic World. It's capitalism.

Only in a matter of time will the audiences fight back with such mundane (or rather paint-by-numbers) movies and stop paying for such drivel. Imagine a future where there's a movie industry equivalent to the Video Game Crash of 1983. Too much mediocrity will make even the most casual watchers say 'no thanks'. To fans it'd wither even faster. There is a finite selection of heroes one could make a movie out of. How many more _Fast and Furious_ sequels can there be? How about a fourth rendition of _Halloween_ ... but in SPACE!? @@Moosemoose1
@Moosemoose1

@DareToBeDeviant Sadly, there are far too many braindead fans who just want to see dinosaurs fight, regardless of the quality of the movie. So many people have grown up their entire lives with this dumbed down crap and have already been conditioned to accept and enjoy these kind of films. So long as they keep going to the movies and paying for mindless crap that's what we're going to get unless studios are forced to change (or we get rid of capitalism). OH and ten bucks I guarantee you when the gravy train thickens they'll introduce the next big trend: Brand Crossovers - where they'll get 2 dying franchises and make a one-off film (or more) where both main casts meet just so the studio can keep the megabucks up - because that's what film studios only care about: franchises.
@AVdE10000
@AVdE10000 23 күн бұрын
@@DareToBeDeviant Exactly. We're already seeing it with Disney's absolutely apocalyptic box office summer last year, while Dune is absolutely killing it. The MCU is falling to pieces thanks to fatigue, while Spiderverse and The Boys are getting everyone hyped. It's obviously going to take more than a few outliers to completely shift an entire industry, but the current status quo is clearly unsustainable. So wether they like it or not, the investors are going to have to leave the comfort zone of throwing increasing amounts of money to increasingly safe and bland projects, and start listening to the creative minds that Hollywood is infested with, yet have gone completely ignored for decades. It's gonna take time, but I'm optimistic. Hell, we might even get out of the CGI clusterfuck hellscape that we're currently in and start seeing practical filmmaking more often again.

It may have been accurate as far as nature goes, but it did nothing to build up the Giganotosaurus as some kind of bad guy, which is what they tried to make it later in the movie. The ending was baffling since it basically just casts the poor thing as the main villain and acts like we are supposed to be happy or relieved that it gets killed.
@DarkFoxKit
@DarkFoxKit Жыл бұрын
@@johnjsal I agree. While it was cool to see Rexy acting more like an animal instead of a monstrous beast who would attack and kill whoever got in her way for a change, the Giganotosaurus being the main big bad dino came out of nowhere. They did a much better job with the Indominus Rex for that. Though you could go the more funny route and think Rexy saw these people so many times that she grew attached to them and decided to fight the Giga to save them since she never went after these people herself in this movie.

I actually have an idea for the movie for, instead of mutated locus, I would make it like there's a prehistoric disease that was accidentally brought back with the dinosaurs slowly killing everyone and the antidote is somewhere in the dino's DNA, mainly Blue's daughter since it's the only naturally born dinosaur in the movie that we know of. I know it's not better, but it still involves the dinosaurs instead of bugs.

You mean like in the Lost World Novel? Part of the reason for the exhibition was because there was a disease going around from dinosaur to dinosaur if a person comes in contact with that disease they would die instantly. An herbivour known for being anti carnivor killer(therazinosaurus) helped in its defeat lol, only reason it went out like it did is cus the T-REX is the star of these movies. In dino crisis 2- giga killed the t-rex, walking with dinos documentary- giga killed the t-rex, fan made filem, giga killed the t-rex..in the film that started it all......T-REX kills giga.

@Gojira19542 I want my Jurassic Park movies with SUBSTANCE: good acting and well-written characters, a solid story, character development, ethical deliberation about mankind's hubris and the destructive power of the God complex reflected by our species' desire to know and control everything, I want the dinosaurs to remain distant from humans to represent the chaotic product of this hubris, not to coexist with them. I dont want "good" and "bad" dinosaurs, or anthropomorphized dinosaurs with human emotions. I don't want "tamed" dinosaurs (it goes entirely against the whole CONCEPT of Jurassic Park). I dont want more tired pandering to nostalgia. I dont want a T-Rex in every. single. movie - it cheapens the effect when you see Rexy doing the same thing over and over again. I don't want to see the storyline thrown to the side just for some dumb, unnecessary dinosaur fight. I want dinosaurs fights to have meaning and tension, and you get none of that when the entire movie is a visual form of ADHD with fast-paced scenes that simply act to move from one chase/encounter/fight to another. You cant properly worldbuild when you blaze through the world from one setting to the next in order to get to the next action sequence. I'm not some mindless 5 year old child lacking an attention span who ONLY wants to see dinosaurs fighting each other; I'm not so easily amused by something as overdone and cheap as a Dino fight, I have standards. If I wanted a cheap popcorn action movie DESIGNED to be dumb and fun, I'd watch Cocaine Bear, King Kong, Godzilla or any Marvel movie ever made.

This movie took the coolest concept that could be used with dinosaurs, having them roam the world and interact with a human-dominated Earth, and did nothing with it. They took the coolest thing you could put into a movie, dinosaurs, and put them in the backseat. They made the main villain of the movie mutated locust and that one guy who appeared literally once in the very first film just so they could make a convoluted "save the environment" message that wasn't even fully focused on the message. They took every last microbe of potential this movie had and sucked it out to replace it with a placebo, that being the original cast returning and reuniting, thinking that would somehow make up for everything. And this movie somehow STILL made almost a full goddamn billion I'm expecting the announcement for another trilogy in the near future

I know some may find Maisie a bit annoying because of her rebel attitude during the first part of the movie but there was a reason why. Maisie has been raised in isolation by Owen and Claire after Fallen Kingdom and has not interacted with anyone else but them. Now as a teenager, she's grown increasingly frustrated staying in one place her whole life and wanted to experience the outside world, despite Owen and Claire telling her she can't cause lots of people would want to study her. Also, she's going through an identity crisis trying to figure out who she really is and both Owen and Claire have little evidence. This is until she and Beta were brought to Biosyn and Dr Henry Wu showed her video of her mom Charlotte Lockwood, proving to Maisie that she does have a mom and how she altered her DNA to eliminate the presence of a fatal genetic disease which, though unfortunately ending up killing Charlotte, was successfully removed from her daughter, saving Maisie's life before she was even born.

I was bothered by how they completely re-wrote her origin story - that she was a clone of James Cromwell's dying daughter he made coz he was losing her, and that Hammond fell out with him over the ethics of human cloning. Then suddenly, it turns out she was made by her mother, so why wasn't that mentioned in Fallen Kingdom, and why wasn't Hammond angry with her instead of James Cromwell? And when they brought her to Wu's lab, why was Dodson angry about it when she was key to fixing it all? Honestly, even making locusts that eat everyone else's crops had me scratching my head going 'why'?

Another great episode from "The Motherfucking T-Rex". When I first heard of this movie and saw the original cast was returning I made the mistake of ignoring my better judgement and I got my hopes up. Then I watched it the day after its release. About 2/3 into the movie, when I should have been invested I went to the lobby and got some more drink and popcorn, which I don't normally do. I was so invested in this movie that I stopped at an arcade cabinet on the way back inside and played Silent Scope. Then I went back in to finish the movie and I didn't even bother to ask my friend what I had missed because I just didn't care. This movie should have been amazing instead of "Meh". Am I the only one that thinks there should have been a lot more people getting eaten? "Dinosaur Petting Zoo with Rocket Ice Cream" lmfao. My favorite gags in this episode are numerous but I think "We just replaced all their dialogue with shit" is a fair description of this movies writing. 🤣Only 37 dinosaur related deaths reported in a year? More people die from feather duster related dismemberment. I was disappointed that there was no Trex song in this one then I realized something, this movie doesn't deserve it.

I was so excited to see Blue and Owen kicking butt together, but boy was I let down! Just think of how cool it could have been to see Owen helping the other men herd the parasaurolophus with his theme playing and everything, and then Blue runs up along side his horse and then runs ahead closer to the herd, helping steer them in the right direction like a dog. Blue is capable of expressing human emotions, even compassion for someone who is hurt. Not just emotionally, like we are shown with Owen when she was a baby, but physically too. In the Jurassic World book, Off the Grid, she expresses genuine concern for Maisie when Maisie falls. Blue even saved Maisie and Owen from the Indoraptor in Fallen Kingdom. In fact, Blue helped totally destroy two super dangerous hybrids. She is fast, smart, and more compassionate and courageous than other raptors....how is she NOT the coolest?

Another fun fact about this film: Trevorrow stated that the film would be set around the world, and said that the idea of Henry Wu being the only person who knows how to create a dinosaur was far-fetched "after 30 years of this technology existing" within the films' universe. Additionally, the film would focus on the dinosaurs that were freed at the end of Fallen Kingdom, but it would not depict dinosaurs terrorizing cities, an idea that Trevorrow considered unrealistic. Instead, Trevorrow was interested in a world where "a dinosaur might run out in front of your car on a foggy backroad, or invade your campground looking for food. A world where dinosaur interaction is unlikely but possible--the same way we watch out for bears or sharks. We hunt animals, we traffic them, we herd them, we breed them, we invade their territory and pay the price, but we don't go to war with them." Trevorrow said that the film would also be about Owen and Claire's redemption, and their responsibility to take care of Maisie, a cloned girl from the previous film. Trevorrow said about the film and its predecessors, "I have a dinosaur movie that I've always wanted to see, and it took two movies to earn it."

I always thought one of TPM's biggest mistakes (especially knowing Harrison was done before filming even started) was not having a money shot of Luke, Han and Leia together one last time. Dominion was smart to put Grant, Malcolm and Sattler together more than one time in the film, it respected both the old and new eras of the series

Doug, may I suggest you watch Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous. It’s by far the best part of the Jurassic franchise besides the original Jurassic Park (and this is coming from someone who liked the 1st Jurassic World film). It’s funny, intriguing, has likable characters and definitely shows a lot of dinosaurs in numerous ways. The show is definitely not perfect, but it’s still pretty damn good (though I still have yet to finish the show). It’s by Dreamworks Animation Television and it streams on Netflix, in case you’re interested.

It's worth adding that you need to give it some time to grow. At the start the kids are insufferable idiots, but they develop over time and that's where it starts to get really good.

The only problem with demanding that the whole movie be like the underground Dino fight rings. Would be that it exhausting with no moments to allow the film to breathe and let the characters be the way they’re.

Watched the regular version, and was at the end of the movie, I sat there saying man they must have edited a lot, which would explain why Jeff G. Standing with a gun, just standing there to get it taken away from him. And the the cast posing multiple times 🤦‍♂️ The movie was “eh” Going to watch the extended version, but man I just wish they had Dino’s with less humans, I could watch blue and lil blue then family and adopted/“ abduction”child. be more interesting then this movie.

Fun Fact about this movie: When Jeff Goldblum found out he was appearing with his two co-stars from the the original film, he wrote on Instagram about Colin Trevorrow a line he said in the original, "You did it, you crazy son of a bitch, you did it." He also added, "happy as a clamasaurus to be reunited with my brilliant costars from the original Jurassic Park Laura Dern and Sam Neill for the next installment of Jurassic World... Coming soon!!"

To each their own. I hate the movie when it involves the main cast from the new trilogy. But I do love the stuff with the original trio who did a great job. The plot is messy, but once we get to them arriving to the area where the dinosaurs are being held at, its pretty good. Its not perfect, but it was still better than the last movie. Doug doesn't love this movie, fine. But I had fun with this and thought the movie at least ended better than the last one.

The problem with dinosaurs vs humans is that when it’s in a slasher setting that works but when you try to make it an apocalypse setting then it suddenly doesn’t work. “Oh no a dinosaur!” *gunshot “Well that was easy.”

T-Rex crashing the theater is in the extended version, including 4 minutes or so of "prehistoric scenes". (Still a fair point, since it wasnt in the theatrical version. But at this time, where the extended is available, you could point that out at least.) Also: Dodgsons death is not only a "reference" to Nedrys death - but since it was pointed out, that Dodgson was a villain in the novels - he gets killed in Lost World by 3 Baby-Rex. So its kinda a double-reference. Also Nedry in the novel lies at the floor, when he (while blinded) feels how the Dilophosaurus bites in his head - so there is that too in the movie. AND: Dr. Grants scare jump away from the Dimetrodon is basically taken from the 1993 Dimetrodon Toy Card from the JP Toyline by Kenner.
