The Iwagumi layout I have created inside my 120x50x40cm aquarium was inspired by the work of Takashi Amano, which one can find in the Aqua Design Amano NA Gallery and in his older books.
Classic Iwagumi style is in my opinion beginner-friendly, as it keeps the number of elements low and allows to focus on mastering the hardscape position and flow within the iwagumi aquarium.
In this Iwagumi Aquascape Tutorial I have used the following products:

I keep Co2 at 30mg/l at KH2 and dosing with ADA Green Brighty + Additives. Lets see how it goes ;)

I found the build for the substrate to be fascinating. I recently put together my first three aquascapes (Iwagumi, Dutch, and Jungle) using my background in houseplants and gardening. I used a mixture of soil, pigeon grit, and cat litter; capped off with our beach sand. All three act the very same way you composed your substrate (our pigeon grit contains the magnesium, iron, and trace elements as well as calcium stones and oyster shells). I suppose I could have also sprinkled osmocote to simulate the sprinkling of root tabs, but I'm expecting the animals in the tank to give back to the plants. Great tutorial! I'll check out the rest of your channel.

Thank you for replying Jurijs!! It's an honor! Hardware like the black tube next to the glass lily pipe intake. Could that be a heater? Maybe talk about why it's important for your iwagumi set up and if it is because of the winter weather there? Maybe also talk about bubbles per second for your beautiful 120p tank and how many hrs in the day. If aeration is used how? And when? How many hrs of light you give this wonderful layout? Just ideas, I hope this helps. Really appreciate your content! And love the scape shirts!

12:06 is that a water sensor clamped on, so you know when to stop filling? Genius idea, if that is indeed what I spotted. Also would love a tip video in the future showing your advice regarding trimming glosso specifically. Hope you can explain further what you once told me about why curved shears are best. Something about how they let you cut the carpet unevenly for better growth at an angle? Anyways I always struggle trimming glosso and would look forward to your advice.

Good job friend, wish you a year full of adventures and I look forward to being able to follow and continue to learn from you, having you as one of my references. I would like that you to talk about pumps dosing fertilizer and material to measure water parameters. On the other hand I would like to know your opinion having an eihem 4+ 350 in a 100/50/50 aquarium, I think to purchase another filter to work with two filters to have better circulation , if you could give me your opinion in terms of volume flow H20 / h I can adjust my choice - I had thought of an eheim 1200, but I don't know if it can't be too much? Strong hug from Portugal 🇵🇹

go for the same 350, if possible thermo to eliminate heaters inside aquarium or online ones. they will do the job. However, I would prefer the Oase over the Eheim if available in your area. ps: the 1200 is too bulky and comes with 2x inflow lines adding another piece of plastic or glass into your aquarium

I love your channel! anyways, So i just did a 6 week DSM of 5 cups of tropica glossostigma ellatinoides. After 6 weeks of DSM, I had a significant amount of glossostigma growth. Day 4, after flooding my glossostigma are turning pale as its almost melting/dying. do you think its because of fertilizing deficiency or from transitioning? currently I have Oase 350 thermo biomas filter with lily pipes, 10 bps CO2 with timer solenoid I turn it on 2 hrs before photo period, 2x chihiros rgb a plus all max setting. 6 hours photo period also with timer. 50% RO 5 water changes everyday doing this for a week to lessen ammonia and algae. and 1 pump of thrive S fertilizer along with that. I also trimmed it as you said. recently checked my GH at 4 and KH at . PH is slightly acidic due to CO2 at 10bps

Great video. Really missing your content and pro tips. Also would really like to have a deep look into the automation below the tank. I would guess you used around 20 cups of glossostigma

24 cups. Anything specific you want to know about automation?
@alawitaher
@alawitaher 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your response Jurijs. I was close to guessing the # of cups :). I am actually interested in all the equipment details not just automation. Maybe more details on the JBL doser/automation device you showed a glimped of in the video is a good start.

Hi, can you name few easiest carpet plants to grow? And is ricardia moss good to be grown on rocks? Love your aquascaper videos
@JurijsJutjajevs
@JurijsJutjajevs 3 жыл бұрын
Marsilea hirsuta and hellanthium tenellum are some of the most easy carpeting plants imo. yes riccardia is perfect to grow on rocks

Hi i reckon 20 cups of glossistigma and a further 12 for the rest. Nice scape and look forward to more videos. My question is i have too many phosphates in my 110litr planted tank how can i lower the levels. Thanx and All the best for 2021.
@JurijsJutjajevs

add more nitrates and plants will uptake both. keep nitrates 12:1 phosphate

Hey Jurijs! Did you test the stones if they where aquarium safe or is basalt always safe. Love the content!
@JurijsJutjajevs
@JurijsJutjajevs 3 жыл бұрын
Basalt is always safe if it's clean and not polluted. It has zero affect on water parameters which is great. I have not treated the rocks in any way, simply had them lay around in my yard..

I saw only one filter in this 120cm tank. Will that be enough? And how many rocks did you use for this scape? Because Iwagumi always follows the odd number right? Is that number kept in check? And I saw a lot of ADA fertilizers in the cabin😉. So that makes it sure that you are going the ADA way. Total respect. Salute🙋‍♂️ I would really love to see how the tank develops and looks like in a few months☺️

there will be updates, stay tuned and yes you have observed many things correct. In open Iwagumi like this 1 filter is enough. If that was a densely planted jungle scape I would use 2 filters for sure

Awesome setup. I guess there was some inspiration from Glassaqua 90P iwagumi as well, with regards to the mid ground plant. I live in Germany btw, i'd like to order tanks and cabinets from emmel. How can i do it and what is the cost range?

@@JurijsJutjajevs purely out of interest, would be nice to know how much it would set you back if anyone decided to go for something similar, I recently set up a 60l dennerle cube and its easily over £550 without any plants or livestock yet, sometimes its surprising and would be cool to know the cost at different scales 😊 thanks for your reply 🐟🐟🌱🌿

If it was green aqua you would have used 50+ pots. P.s. just set up a low tech 120 cm tank using tropica soil and my ammonia went up to 1 - 2. Is that normal? Nice video! Looking forward to more great videos this year!
@JurijsJutjajevs

that can happen, but no worries, plants feed on ammonia. actually its their preferred no3 source. however, do your large water changes for the first few weeks and you will be ok

How high above the tank would you place the light. I’ve not got any stands and have been putting them on glass tops. Any critique on that?

10-40cm depends on tank height, plant light demand and light intensity. the higher the light, the more light is waster into the room

Hey :) is it not needed to have Vulcano rocks or something underneath the soil? Second question: I want to Setup a imagumi tank with a lot of Monte Carlo on the ground. How important is co2 for that because I don’t have a very high budget tbh
@ichrised
@ichrised 3 жыл бұрын
You only need vulcanic rocks under the soil if your soil is too fine. If you have a lot of patience you don't need co2, With enough light monte carlo will carpet fine without it
