In todays video, we take a look at servicing the Micra, focussing on an oil change, Auto Transmission Fluid change and a coolant change.
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
In the video, I show footage of me supporting the car on axle stands, using the sill jacking points, as axle stand supports. Although I keep the car supported on the jack, via the central jacking point on the engine crossmember, I would recommend using the sturdier box sections that run parallel to the sills. A subscriber has pointed out that he has supported on the sills, previously, and caused a number of issues, resulting in some repairs and welding work.
Basic process for the ATF change. The H CVT torque convertor based transmission, in the newer Micra, takes 2.5 Litres of NS1 oil, for a drain and fill. This is not the total capacity, but, the capacity of the sump.
- Warm the car up, go for a drive, first.
- Jack up both front wheels, support the car on axle stands.
- Undo the 17mm drain bolt, let the fluid drain into a suitable tray
- Have at least 3 litres of Nissan NS1 spec ATF, ready.
- Replace the 17mm bolt, fill with 2.5 litres, through the dipstick tube.
- Start the engine, cycle through each selector position, whilst holding the car on the brake, the car need to have the front wheels off the ground.
- Select D, with the front wheels elevated, accelerate to an indicated 30 mph
- release the accelerator
- repeat the process another three times.
- this process gets oil into the CVT circuit and cycles the cones/belt
- turn off, check the fluid level, maximum on the C marker, should be fine
- take the car for a test drive, after lowering it,
- check all levels on your return.
