creality 3D behind the scenes

Ай бұрын

I don't get tired of watching this, i hope you enjoy it too. Each time the printer finishes one color on a layer it goes through this process. We will watch the filament get pulled back and the new filament get fed in through the CFS. The extruder pushes some of the new filament through the nozzle so that your next color is ready to go. A quick pass on the purge block to make sure it is printing and then your new color is ready for use. It's my first time watching this and I enjoyed it. I hope you do too!

@kevin.3D
@kevin.3D 26 күн бұрын
I'm not sure if i understand your question. Each of the color changes here are in the same layer. This model has four colors on each layer. for example, the tires at the front are black on the outside and white on the inside. This is on each layer. So one layer of this model has all four colors.

Kevin, can you inquire as to whether the CFS has the capacity to automatically select a new spool of the same color, if the previous spool runs out? Thanks! (I will be reposting the answer to the MACRO Discord, to help spread the information.)
@kevin.3D
@kevin.3D 27 күн бұрын
Yes I already know the answer to that question is a yes. The CFS knows what colors are in there so if you keep four white rolls of filament and a huge print, it can run through all four rolls for you.

@cliffgardner5717

When it hits against the side of the wall it is cutting the filament, then it rolls back up, the left over amount that's in the nozzle after the cut is then purged out. It will have a clean cut after each color change over.

Dumb question: why is there a purge block if it gets rid of so much filament during color changes? Seems like it should "poop" out just enough to clean off the nozzle, then transition on the block (or whatever purge-to object) before going back to the main model. Or go from wiping back to the main model without doing a block.
@DavidWaite
@DavidWaite 26 күн бұрын
My understanding is the purpose of the block is primarily to prime the temperature and pressure of the nozzle with the new filament, not to purge, hence being a "prime tower". It is closer to the line/pattern before the start of a new print - but per color/per layer.

If it is spitting out enough filament to change colors then why is a purge block even needed?
@mynameisprivate158
@mynameisprivate158 20 күн бұрын
something to do with nozzle pressure and building it up before resuming the print, I'm waiting for tool changers to come out too much wasted time and filament on these AMS systems. What people don't realize until after purchas is that a 5 hour single color print goes up to 20 hours for the same print in multicolor and you wast 1/2 the filament as well! Thats if the AMS works perfectly! Running an AMS quadruples your chances of having a print failure!

Great video. You need to keep the camera higher, so we can see the filament get removed and the new filament enters the extruder. I was trying to see where the cutter is.
@kevin.3D
@kevin.3D 27 күн бұрын
the cutter is not above the extruder, it gets cut before moving to the back. When the print head moves to the left and "bangs" against the side twice - that is the cutter working. I agree with you that I wish we could see a little better inside on this video but this was as far as i could reach in and zoom - my big fat hands seems to get in the way.
@3DPrinterDoctor
@3DPrinterDoctor 27 күн бұрын
@@kevin.3D nah, you just had the camera tilted down too much. Does the filament get cut between the hotend and the extruder? I don't understand why the filament doesn't get retracted before cutting, to minimise the poop.
@DavidWaite
@DavidWaite 26 күн бұрын
@@3DPrinterDoctor retraction risks hot/deformed filament being pulled back into the extruder, basically undoing the purpose of the heatbreak and risking clogs and gumming up the extruder. You can still do _some_ retraction, but not nearly as much as one would hope. It is in the realm of static g-code macros, so there have been plenty of experiments where people have both tuned both this sort of retraction distance before cutting, plus tuned the total filament volume needed to flush the rest of the path/nozzle down.

Then either right before the holidays or 1st thing starting new year the CFS upgrade for K1-series lineup will come out. It's going need alot of R&D and changes to make work with K1-series lineup. Needs new backpanel and poop chute nozzle wiper, also will need new nozzle/extruder printhead design so can cut the filament etc...
