Join me on my first day in Kampot, Cambodia, as I transition from a week of island life to exploring this historic city. Despite initially expecting a tranquil town, I found myself surprised by the bustling energy of Kampot. Nonetheless, I set out on a hired motorbike to discover the sights and experiences this city has to offer.
My journey takes me from the Lotus Pond in the city centre to the river, crossing the Old Bridge along the way. I encounter unique landmarks like the Giant Durian Fruit roundabout and witness local Cambodians engaging in a spirited game of French boules. Additionally, I stumble upon a Buddhist school, adding depth to my exploration of Kampot's cultural landscape.
With plenty more time to explore, I'm hopeful that my initial impressions of Kampot will evolve as I delve deeper into its offerings over the next few days.
As an older backpacker, I'm passionate about showcasing that travel and backpacking adventures are not limited to the younger generation. Join me on my global journey as I challenge stereotypes and embrace new experiences.
