Kanigoro 6 on empties, East Java, Indonesia

11 ай бұрынDespite being close to the southern boundary of Madiun, Kanigoro sugar mill kept some of its field lines open until the middle 1990s. On this occasion, OK 0-8-0T 6 is taking the morning empties out to the west. This necessitated crossing the long abandoned main line branch to Ponorogo as well as the parallel main road. Unfortunately, my camera battery ran out just as we reached the big bridge across the Madiun river.

Too bad your battery went out as it's about to cross the bridge. I passed that crossing many times when I was a kid, and always wondered how it'd look when an actual train goes by. But as always, beautiful footage, sir. Thanks for the effort.

Kanigoro Sugar Mill is near from my house. It's about 2 km. It's a legend.

I have been told that there are plans to get it running again in 2024, it would be a lot cheaper on wood than D1410.

Despite already being disused, it's nice to see the former tracks of Ponorogo branch still intact and unpaved. Sad the road was widened and both Kanigoro's narrow gauge cane field line and the Ponorogo branch was paved over. By the way, is the diamond crossing with the Ponorogo branch in the first part of the video?

0:40 At this minute, the path that the steam locomotive went through no. 6 is now this line is inactive and all the lines have been revoked and become a highway called Jalan Ngebong.

I've looked it up and the video was shot on 17th August 1994.
