I agree with some of your points, but, blaming a lack of understanding of our background doesn’t stick when there are Black therapists, psychologists etc. We need to address the stigma within our own community when it comes to seeking mental healthcare and we cannot use excuses like this to not get the care we deserve and need. We carry an infinite amount of trauma that we deserve to work through and that our future generations will feel the impact of. Also, our sense of blackness shouldn’t be tethered to what we have access to - how much money we have, what type of home we have and what our kids have access to isn’t what defines us or our children. Our culture is so much more than this and we are so much more than our struggles. My Black parent wouldn’t talk to me like this and now me as a parent would never talk to my kids like this. My brother, I don’t want to seem like trying to devalue your input and your opinion - but we can acknowledge stigmas without making them into excuses.

@@computersaysno1089 he’s not abusing his kids. People can talk to their kids however they want, so long as there’s no abuse. Hurt feelings =/= abuse. But to your other point: your current material and socioeconomic standings, especially as someone who just got to the middle or the top of the ladder, does effect how you eventually relate to black culture. You have to go out of your way to stay grounded with your people or else you will definitely become more of an advocate of your class, than your people. There’s so few of us there, and the ones who are there, have been there for a while themselves. Their whole perspective of society is warped and mired within the prism of your typical whyte bourgeois. Yes, we are more than our struggles, but our struggles is at the focal point of the blk experience. Abstract fluff isn’t going to change that fact. For the record, I also think therapy is overrated. I really have no interest in even sitting in front of a blk therapist and have them tell me how to deal with ish they ain’t never been through. They never had to be disgusted with themselves for selling bricks when they were younger. Or watching your close friends get sh*t and d*e in your arms, or have cousins try to k*ll you for dope, or wake up to nothing but roaches in your microwave, having no food in the fridge, then going outside and dealing with crooked nationalized gangs: the NYPD. These are things I went through. I learned how to process all of that on my own. Last thing I want is some born-into-the-middle-class, boule, Jack and Jill, nu-blk telling me how I should cope with issues that ain’t even been through.

He is always throwing himself with full force into anything he does and most of the times it will get him in a lot of trouble. Agree, I don’t understand how saying his kids are being boujie and unruly is the worst thing Kanye has ever done. Or that it’s child abuse. What I got out of it was that he wants his kids to be down to earth, to know people struggle and how easy they have it, as his life was never easy. He’s not blaming the kids. Agree to disagree completely. The professor here is making a perfect interpretation. These kids are NOT to blame in this messy public divorce. No child is or should be. Kanye made them part of his own personal shit forever by putting it in a song that they will hear when they grow older. That their friends will hear. That their immediate family will hear. It’s absolutely disgusting. He’s blaming them and making jokes about it whether you wanna look it that way or not. He’s trying to be a “nice” dad but he’s not a good dad. And it’s not about a celebrity relationship that’s not going well, it’s about a bad divorce between two people in the public eye. And Kanye made it that way with this song, hence the line “I guess I’ll let my pride win.” At the end of the day, what we see on camera is not what’s behind the scenes and Kanye showed all of us just how it really is and how he really is when it comes to family…ugly.
