the reason why the build up is so much shorter (according to a lot of people on the internet), is because they have been "courting" for years technically. they know each other through and through, the only thing left was for Colin to feel that physical connection besides the emotional one, which was already there.

We've had 2 seasons to get to know Penelope and Colin. It didn't have to get drugged out. And as for Colin, that kiss just checked off his final box.

I think they jumped right into it because this is the first time that we already know both characters and we actually have seen their story progress over two seasons. And people can say what they want, but these two had a thing and looks happening from their first scene so… Also, yes, too many stories going on. They should’ve just made it a 10 episode season.

The build-up for Colin and Penelope has been going on since season 1. We know she's loved him for a long time, but he already loves her too, it's only a matter of realizing it. He just hadn't done it yet because they became friends when they were so young, and she's basically part of the Bridgerton family. So when she gains more confidence, wearing the clothes and the hairstyle she wants, starts looking for someone else, then they kiss, and everyone and their mother throw it in his face the fact that he is _such_ a good friend, and it'll be because of the goodness of _his_ heart that Penelope will find a prospect, fall in love and marry someone else... He finally fucking realizes it. (Seriously, one of the many things that I love about this season is how deeply frienzoned he is, by Penelope and by everyone else, when before he was the one doing the friendzoning. Hilarious.) About the many storylines, I think the point is, it's an ensemble series, so there are different plot lines throughout. I like it, but I wouldn't mind more time with Colin and Penelope. They are my favorite couple.

i kept hearing FOR MONTHS about some carriage scene that happens in the book, so as soon as Colin opened that door, i knew what was about to go down, but i still wasn't FULLY prepared for that😭🤭

I've been so looking forward to your reaction to this episode! The buildup is definitely different for Colin and Penelope this season, but that's also because the nature of their relationship is very different from the previous two seasons! In seasons 1 and 2, they were introducing the love interests for the very first time so it makes sense to have had a slower buildup. We needed to get to know them before seeing them fall in love. Colin and Penelope have known each other for years and we've gotten to see a lot of sweet moments between them in the first two seasons. The love was already there, it's just that the physical piece was missing for Colin but after that first kiss, it awakened those feelings in him and we're seeing him come to the realization pretty quickly that she's always been the one for him 🥹

colin and pen have known each other since she was about 12 , i think hes always loved her but never knew it

God, the wait was worth it, it was completely romantic, tender, sexy, authentic, first season couple, faithful to love, Polin, I'm super happy. I was worried that Polin's kisses would be forced, but they exceeded my expectations every time I see the scenes, they give me chills, God. I cry because it is glorious, tender, sexy without losing the essence of friendship between them who have loved each other since they were children, it is magnificent. I look forward to the other 4 chapters but I am happy that there will be more beautiful moments.

I’m keeping up just fine with the storylines and there is not a dull moment🤣. They did not need the same build up as the other matches because they have been close friends and the foundation and love already exists. She’s known she loves him and he figured out he loved her and he’s done with the bad boy life so there is nothing to wait on. I love it. If I meet my second love of my life I won’t wait either.

I'm kinda gonna justify the relatively swift arrival of a potential wedding at this point in the series, not just because they're old close friends, but because there's still all the drama of the Whistledown secret to drive a wedge between them in a big way, so it's not like they're out of the Yearning Woods just yet, because the marriage they could be headed into won't be a happy one for very long. And once they're married they can't avoid each other as easily once the angst and arguments hit. The tension's gonna be cracking.

my personal opinion i loveeee friends to lovers (mostly cuz im in a relationship that went from friends to lovers so im biased) but the reason why theres not that much of penelope x colin is bc we already seen their relationship and chemistry in earlier seasons. this season is mostly about colin developing and confessing to penelope, like getting to that point ya know??? ofc this season will have a different dynamic, it'd be boring if it was the same as season 1 or season 2. MY PERSONAL OPINION THO, thats js how i think

Not matter how much the Bridgerton series tries to explain why Cressida "is the way that she is" she is still a bully who is abusive only to Penelope. This looks more like making excuses for the bully trope. I hope Cressida has a terrible ending.

The build up was season one and two technically. Kate and Anthony didn’t know each other neither did the duke and Daphne. Colin and pen know each other. But I will say I did want more of them than the other story lines. But I am happy I love all the characters tbh. Part two better have 5-6 episodes though 😤

I get so confused about 'too many storylines' commentary

What frustrates me about the opinions of other people about the season is that I think everybody.... sucks. This is the second person I heard say that there's too many story lines. A couple more people who have said that Colin and Pen still feel like side characters. As far as love of season 2, I'm well in my thirties and I'm certain I never will understand. I think Anthony is not a good person. I don't understand what's attractive about a storyline where you're attracted to somebody, decide you want to triangulate that person's most loved one into that to hurt them out of stubbornness, for no GD reason. Some dead daddy tears for him and poof, everyone forgets. Fine. Lot of people have a hard-on for it. I give up. But, is it my minimum 9 seasons of Gray's anatomy that makes me think, this isn't a lot of story lines WHEN YOU LIVE IN SHONDALAND!?? It's like when people talk about the blood in a Quentin Tarantino movie being unrealistic. WHO'S F-ING MOVIE DID YOU SHOW UP TO WATCH??? Because if you're watching someone visually. Bridgerton was made for an audience I don't understand. It's demographic is GIANT. But I like friends to lovers. I am a Violet at heart. Anyone who feels like that's not exciting enough for them..... Well then I wish Kate and Anthony levels of conflict into their relationships. Enjoy the other storylines.💌
