Clutch is a Comet 780

Just finished doing the same with 2500 Mule...Plenty of power but having issues with it burning oil after climbing a hill.The 670 I have on my wheel horse does the same thing.

I’m doing a engine swap on a 2500. Putting a kohlor 18 commander and the shaft is smooth and the kaw engine is spline. I need to kno what clutch I can use plz send me a link. Thx man.

Did you go with the standard belt? If so how is it holding up? Looking at doing the same setup on my 3010. Had a guy tell me the 780 would eat the belt and cause premature wear on the clutch due to the 3010 having 1 7/16 wide belt and the 780 clutch designed for 1 3/16 wide belt. From what I can tell it might be a .015 difference (real world) on the running belt width. The guy could have been full of it as well.

I ran the stock belt and it seemed fine. I don’t think that small of a difference is going to matter. It’s not like it’s a 80 mph sport machine. Lol

Thanks for the video! 2 years later , What do you think of the motor? I bought a 670 for a max 2 6 wheel rebuild project. Not ready to install motor yet. However, I did make a frame for it , started once a month. Seems to idle/run start well

I sold it about a year ago. I liked it but in stock form, the predator was just not reliable for me. The carburetor would get out of tune very easy and would not run right. They can be good engines if you want to build them but in stock form, I was not very happy with it. If i did it agian, I would rebuild the stock engine, put a honda in it, a kohler, or maybe a Duromax engine. Not to say all 670s are bad but I did not have good luck with it over the long term in stock form.

@@billmers3219 Just because I was not a fan of mine does not mean yours is bad. I do not want to give the engine a bad reputation but that was just my honest experience with it. If you join the predator 670 group on Facebook, there is a lot of useful information on there. Many people kind of feel the same way I do about the stock engines. Most of the issues can be solved with a aftermarket fuel pump and oem honda carb.

How's the Mule holding up? Did you add anything else or modify it more? Are you still going to put up the wiring diagram? I am wanting to put a Honda GX630 engine in one of these.

It’s doing alright. I’m having carb issues since it’s a predator. I need to put a new carb on it. Otherwise it’s been good

@@atvrepairsandmore2482 did you consider using the original mule carb? Those seem to be pretty good and I believe have the same bolt pattern.

Interesting video. I have a 2001 model 3010 and the meter shows near 5500 hours. Runs good just hard to start cold. I have issues with it jumping out of gear though. You have any videos pertaining to the drivetrain or torque converter?

No I do not. Try to adjust your shift cable. If that does not fix your issue then it is probably a internal transmission issue. If you are having cold start issues, do a valve adjustment. I have had many Kawasaki ATVS I have bought dirt cheap that would not start or were hard to start because the Kawasaki engines are bad about the valves tightening up over time

wmkess it’s very easy. Just buy a feeler gauge on amazon for $8-$10. I’m sure there are plenty of videos on how to do it you have never done it before or you can look at the service manual if you have it

Awesome swap! Do you think a swap like this would be possible on a 610 mule? I've read that maybe the engine on the 610 rotates the wrong way. Any truth to that? Thank you

I think the 670 might be to big for a 610. I think a predator 420 would be best for it. I have heard that the 610 factory engine roared the opposite direction but I can not confirm that for sure

I mounted my 670 on a 2500 Mule.Heard the direction of rotation was an issue as well.Fortunately I didn't have that issue.The output shaft on the predator rotates counter clockwise as does the shaft on my transmission. Put your mule in forward and see which way the trans pulley rotates to make it go forward.

the ignition switch needs to be grounding the coil to shut off right away. i had the same issue with my swap on a toro workman

If I could do it over again, I would have rebuilt the original engine or dropped a Honda engine in it. The fuel system on the 670 is awful. You have to swap out the pump and carburetor just to make the engine somewhat reliable. I got tired of messing with it and ended up selling it. It would never run correctly on the factory carburetor.

@@atvrepairsandmore2482 Cant even find a Honda and the ksaki is trashed. Ever use the duromax engines? (Amazon has them, another clone I'm sure) 713cc for $991 I figured the carbs would be the issue as they are not designed for foot pedal control, I'm amazed the k saki works as good as it does. K saki carb mount to these clones? Does the clone engine carb even look like the k saki carb? I haven't seen one as i don't want to buy the engine till I think it'll work worth a darn.

@@Freefamable I have heard good things about the duromax. I believe you can buy a OEM Honda carb that bolts on to the predator. If you join the 670 group on Facebook, there is good info on there

How did you figure the distance between the primary and secondary clutch? Nice work!

I just got it as close to the stock distance as possible since it’s a stock belt. Best thing to do would be to buy one of the weld on plates that allows you to adjust the distance. As long as the belt is wearing properly and the clutches aren’t catching at idle then you are good

I used this and welded washers on the inside to make the center hole smaller

Hey Colton, love the video man, I've watched it more times than care to admit while working on my 2510 with the same motor swap. As previously requested by another viewer, I too am having issues with the wiring. Could we get a picture of the wiring, particularly at the new motor? It kicking my tail right now...

I never had a problem with it. As long as you are not submerging it in water, you should be ok

I’m just outside of Houston and I do occasionally work on other people’s machines. I won’t do custom engine swaps like this but I can work on stock machines and things of that a sort

I don't know much about these things but I am currently in a similar project but using a 459cc engine and I replaced it with a 287cc engine. How can I determine which clutch I should buy? I'm very stuck on this😣 I have the original clutch for the 287cc engine and I am using it for the 459 at the moment but it is activating due to the speed of the engine. Can you give me some tips on which clutch I should buy or which one you have? Does the clutch distance affect?

I used a comet 780 which is designed for a 1” shaft. Best thing to do is to get on a Facebook group for that engine and ask what other people have ran on similar projects. I know for the 670 that the comet 780 is the best option for most applications. Comet should make a clutch for the 459 also

your fuel pump not a "puller." maybe thats why your having carb issues.
