Toronto Blue Jays infielder Munenori Kawasaki, who was just recalled on Wednesday afternoon, was back to his old tricks having fun with teammate Esmil Rogers by sneaking into a media scrum to ask "where you from?".

Kawasaki has suffered from depression for a few years after he retuned to Japan. Thankfully, he recovered now and starts to play baseball again. He tried to be funny on the surface, but he is very sincere and sensible person. I hope he keeps smiling and enjoy his life now.

@@daffafauzan3471 Yes, it's true. I am Japanese and I was so shocked to hear that he has depressed and he didn't play any sports for a while. We Japanese fan worried about his situation. After taking long rest, he gradually he has been recovered. Now he plays baseball in Tochigi prefecture, Japan. He has been making big effort every time in his life, I think.

Sometimes the happiest and funniest people to be around are very depressed deep inside. That why we are so kind and happy to people because deep down we know how it feels. I’ve been fighting depression most of my adult life.

Kawasaki was such a great character guy to have on the team for the Jays. He definitely brought moral up in the change room. Its important to have those type of players to create a tight knit family

I'm a Toronto fan, I live a couple hours drive away so I saw a lot of this guy. Versatile ball player who brightened everyone's day. I always looked forward to the postgame show just hoping they would talk to Muni.

Met Esmil Rogers in Korea a few years back. He invited us to his game, gave us VIP tickets and signed baseballs after the game. And now he's in my recommended getting pranked. Amazing.

This was a cry and condemnation from Kawasaki. A bold statement about the constant questions he would receive about where he's from, and about his mastery of a language so foreign, yet so crucial to his success. And he delivered it masterfully, under guise of a reporter to a friend and colleague he could trust to play along. Amazing, this is one of the rare videos that can reduce a casual viewer to tears. Bravo.

I beg your pardon if I'm mistaken, I don't know much about baseball cause I'm from Spain and baseball it's known very little. But if I were a manager or coach I would like to have a guy like Kawa. He's probably for me a decent or maybe more than decent player (sorry again if I'm wrong) but he makes the whole team better with his actions. He's the kind of teammate that give good vibes inside the locker room

I wish Kawa would have been hired by ESPN or Fox to be a talking head or do fun segments with other players. Even with the language barrier, he’d still create enjoyable moments that the MLB fanbase would embrace wholeheartedly. Kawa is a special soul. His personality is genuine, inviting, and hilarious.
