Nice video! Still have my ZX9R E1 WITH 86 thousand miles on it, most done by myself. At 30 though I put an Ohlins rear shock on, which made it handle unbelievably, highly recommended. It will make you smile like a Cheshire cat. Nice to hear one at full chat again.

86 thousand is impressive, but then again one must remember that that company build aircraft engines and aircraft before it started building bikes, and that tradition of excellent engineering and high built quality needed in that business was continued in their bike (over engineered was a term ofter used to describe kawasaki products) manufacturing operations.

I have a zx12r now but I used to have a 2000 zx9r an I absolutely loved it, never missed a beat, handled great and never had a problem keeping up with the more modern sports bikes. The zx9r was an underrated bike, I was gutted when I sold it on

I’ve got an “04 plate” in silver, it was a one owner 10,000 mile bargain that I paid £1600 for! I’ve had it since 2018 and it’s not going anywhere, more than enough power to keep up with the modern stuff and really comfortable for a super bike! An underrated bargain to be had! 😀👍

From Denmark, Hi there, cool MC, I myself have a ZX9R from 1994, the first model. It has driven 39,000 miles and runs fine. I regret that I didn't know the difference between the first ones and those that came in 1998, From 1998 it will be completely rebuilt and lose 32kg+ many other improvements are being made. Had I known, I wouldn't have bought a 1994 model. I have tried a 1999 model and it is a completely different MC to ride than my old tank. Have now had it for 7 years and never want to get rid of it. Mine is green and black, and with a black frame, so it's very nice.

I have a 90 zx10 and this seems like a good replacement if that time ever comes. These bikes sit in a category that doesn't seem to exist now, which I call the good real world sportbike category. An "old" sport bike with a bit of weight and comfort and balance to handle bumps on lousy roads or take advantage of great roads all while getting decent great mpg. I rode my zx10 across the U.S. (back in 1996)and got 45mpg cruising at 115mph.

Former 2003 F2 in silver owner here from the USA. I put 30,000 miles on the bike blasting around the local mountains and all over California and nearby states of Nevada and Oregon. For a larger guy myself (tall and lanky), it really fit the bill after a few smaller 600cc sports bikes. What a beaut in so many ways.

I love mine! An 01 E2 converted for drag racing at the track. The perfect entry level drag bike. Lots of low end torque. Without doing engine modifications and still relying on foot shifting, it does 10 seconds flat at the 1/4 mile. That's with over 100,000 km on it. If you own one for the street, don't ever give it up!

Spot on review, I bought a two year old one in 2001, kept it for two years and sold it on. After owning other bikes including a Blade and a Gixer, I tracked down another mint 99 C2 in 2017 which is now a permanent fixture in my garage. I bought a '00 ZX-9 today with 32k on it. Having it shipped from Wisconsin. I could only dream about owning this machine back in the '90's. Excellent video with lots of good information about the bike. I'm looking at a 1999 year ZX9R that has been stored for the last 14 years. It will have to go to the bike shop for a check-over. Any specific concerns? I image there is no service history. The seller mentions a race tire on the front. I think it may haver been raced. Definitely will be checking that out as I would not want a bike that has been raced. Subscribed!

I daily one of these in Australia. It's only my 2nd bike after my ZR7 got sandwiched. I can feel the weight difference between this and a colleges 2nd gen Hayabusa. I am 60kg and set my forks to hard as it seemed too wollowy when I bought it. I find it's happiest tootaling no lower than 3500rpm.
@fourleafrider7470
@fourleafrider7470 2 жыл бұрын
A ZX9R and a Hayabusa should definitely feel different no doubt! There’s about 40kg difference i think. Do you commute on it? At 60kg you’re about half my weight. Based on my limited knowledge I’d imagine that adjusting the preload on the shock would make the biggest difference to suspension feel rather than damping and compression adjustments - have you played around with sag? .I’ve heard people say different things low rpm on this bike, some say happy at 2000rpm, some say not happy untill 4000rpm. I reckon the difference probably due to fuelling set up and carbs. Mine is happy from 3000rpm, but tbh i rarely ride below 4000rpm.

@12:58 "Nothing has given me as much joy as this bike, not even close." Sums up the ZX-9R C/E/F series. I too have taken quite a few new bikes for test rides, those short rides onto public roads the manufacturers put on in groups at race tracks. You step off one of their bikes and onto another. The newer bikes don't have this or that or are weird or jerky or uncomfortable or too small too large, what did they do here and why? etc.... but the ZX-9R just fits and ticks all the boxes pretty handily. I think you may have found our forum (incredibleidiot) member's video review. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aJqUZriCr96lgps.html Much like yours, his was fun to watch too.

I've just sold my Aprilia Mille for a 2003 ZX9R 15k for £3000, had a mille for 2 years and another for 2 years. I'm 53 with a dodgy crushed disc. Fed up with the riding position and feathering the heavy clutch. On a test ride I noticed how wide the tank is, it parts your legs more. Mirrors work well. Brakes are lacking tho. No fuel light, just a tap. Vibration is noticeable. Unlike the Aprilia. otherwise those are the only negatives. ps. I won't be going as fast as you!!! 😂

Thanks for the comment mate. I wasn't familiar with the Aprilia Mille until I looked it up just now but looks like a nice bike. Luckily the brakes on my ZX9R were swapped out from the 6 pot callipers to 4 pot callipers before I bought it and I believe they're quite a bit better. The brakes on mine are plenty strong. Vibration is noticeable yes, but not as noticeable as on the Honda VFR 800 I had before with its big V4 engine! Enjoy your new bike and safe riding!
@shiftyshamsk
@shiftyshamsk 2 жыл бұрын
Cheers, good review btw, yeah, mine has the 4 pots but it's had 11 owners in 15,000 miles so I doubt it's been serviced well if much. I expect they've just sold it on. It'll be getting a big service very soon. I do agree with you on the great power delivery in any gear. It's a brilliant all rounder. I did look at loads of other bikes, the VFR like you had. loads of midrange bikes. I was to sell my two bikes and spend £4k but decided on £3100 for one and keep two bikes.

@@fourleafrider7470I've had the carbs stripped and cleaned, would you believe it, all the valves needed shimming! All closed up. Oil wasn't nice. Front brakes need new seal kits fitting this week. It's very off beat and gruff for a 4 cylinder engine but once I pull away it smooths out and growls like a banshee. Did a trip to Belgium in late July with luggage and I found out that it doesn't like super unleaded AT ALL. To the point it feels like it's going leave me stranded. Once I'd put a few tanks of ordinary unleaded through it was fine. I have tried this a few times now. My mates who do my servicing also found this out while refilling the tank after sorting the carbs. Even putting a little super unleaded into the tank of unleaded found it contaminated the unleaded and it wouldn't run!
