I'm so sorry for your loss, hon! And adjusting to cooking for one has got be difficult! My grandmother had a hard time with that as well. I hope you have grandchildren nearby to keep your days bright! And a sweet fur baby around for daily humor and love! Never fortunate enough to have children of my own -- but I've "adopted" a couple😁-- and I have my fur babies! I honestly don't know what I'd do without them or my adoptees! Went 5 years without a fur baby because I couldn't get over my previous one (I swear he was part human!)-- a Maine Coon mix that adopted me! I'm glad I have my Cinnamon -- I didn't realize how not having a little love bug around was affecting me until I got her. She wasn't socialized properly as a kitten, so she's not overly affectionate but I know she loves me (learned after a hospital stay, she slept on a pillow next to my head for days when I got home). Anyway, I've apparently drifted into Babble-on...(you'd never guess I used to be the quietest member of my family!)🥴🙃 My best to you and yours! 😊

I know. I simply don't understand why a wonderful, from scratch, cook, doesn't write down every detail of their recipes. Before my Mom passed away I got her to come to my home, and with necessary items pre-purchased, I had her make them and I made sure I got exact measurements, and wait ( if required times), and oven temps, cook times, etc. I am so thankful, now, I can pass on grandma's recipes.

My Grannie Jackson made Skillet Biscuits! She used Crisco & buttermilk. She had a straight-sided skillet, big enough for six biscuits. She'd melt Crisco in the pan, put hand-formed biscuits in it, put a lid on it, cook over low heat until a very crisp crust formed, flip onto a plate, and slide back into the skillet to finish. As my grandfather was a bee-keeper, we grew up eating these biscuits with butter & honey. Your video recalls very fond memories!! Thanks for sharing!

I've done the same thing, since I was just a kid. I learned this from my nextdoor neighbor who baby-sat us. The folding method is new to me, though, looks great. I also made skillet cornbread bread like this. Just replace half of the flour with cornmeal. Add sweetener or not, depending on whether you like sweet cornbread. I use the ratio of 1 tsp of baking powder, and 1/2 tsp of salt, per cup of dry ingredients, if you're not using self-rising.

Now, I still used my traditional old Cat-head Biscuit recipe and I baked them in the oven but this time the difference was the way I handled the dough--those biscuits they rose up three times higher than the last time I used the same recipe! The best ever. From now on, I'm folding the dough the Ken Click way. 😃

I love that you actually pointed out how gentle you have to be with biscuit dough. If you're too rough with it, you have crunchy, chewy lumps. Not fun. Also you are using the cutter in the correct way to get extra height. If you twist the cutter it seals the edge and you get less rise. This is awesome!! Lol I don't end up with 12 biscuits when I can only eat 2🤣

Thank you. I just found you for this first time. I am mostly alone now with limited mobility. I love cooking from scratch. My dream house would have a second fireplace with a raised hearth in the kitchen. I love cooking and baking in my cast iron pots. One of the last times I camped with my nephew and 2 grand children we baked apple pie in my Dutch oven. We loved having a limitless menu. I can't wait to see what else you do.😊

❤❤❤ WOW!! WAOOW!! That's exactly how I went when I bit into my first biscuit!! I absolutely love it! I was by my lonesome at home, (as is the case since my husband's passing late 2023. And while watching this man making I got very hungry indeed, so I dropped my phone, and went to my kitchen and whipped up a batch!! And, let me tell you this, ❤ it was LOVE AT FIRST BITE!! 😂😂❤❤❤ Man, 4get all the haters and Naysayers, yes. It may be another 50 years, or more, of them doing something that they're good at, yet fooling themselves into believing that no one else can create something just as good or better than they have!!! Well done bro! ❤❤❤ A dozen thumbs up from me! Lol. 😂😂😅😅😊😊❤❤❤ And,, to the Naysayers, who seemingly have nothing better to do, let me tell you this, a recipe, any recipe, of doing anything, is simply someone's idea brought into fruition, and it can be tweaked, changed, and rearranged to suit anyone else, to their likeness and satisfaction!! TO EACH HIS OWN! ❤ BLESS UP. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Brought back fond memories of my MamMaw making biscuits when I was young in North Carolina. She used buttermilk and Crisco. As many times as I watched her make them , I could never get the recipe right because she didn’t measure the ingredients out. We added molasses and butter or Karo and butter to our biscuits. I can’t wait to try your pan biscuit recipe.😀

My grandmother was a southern cook. Her biscuits were addictive. And honey butter was a standard. I raised my kids with the same. I was surprised, when eating out with local groups, how many had never heard of honey butter. Maybe it was a geographic thing. But it was their loss.
