Its ironic that the show really does prove love is blind but not in the way it wants to. They’re not blind to the other person’s appearance but so many of them are clearly blinded to their partner being toxic or not caring about them

That “say it. Just say it.” scene with Matt was so fucking terrifying. I don’t want to accuse anyone of anything they haven’t definitively done yet but I wouldn’t be surprised if he turns out to be physically abusive someday. I’d honestly say that scene in and of itself was a display of abusive behavior; badgering her and backing her into a corner until she did what he wanted and stopped “acting out of line”.

As a Yoruba woman (SK is Yoruba) watching that scene with Raven in the gèlè shop made me cringe to the depths of my soul and I'm reminded of why I generally refrain from dating Yoruba men. I was raised in that sort of household and you can imagine the stress and trauma I experienced, especially being the oldest daughter and oldest child of the family. Everything they said to her, unfortunately, are expectations that people have of wives in Yoruba societies. It's heartening of course that SK reassures Raven that she is enough as she is. It's not often that a man will take his wife's side. More often than not, they usually just say things like "you know how it is with family" etc, if they're not joining in with the antagonization.

The one singular bright spot in Matt and Colleens relationship is the fact that they haven't moved in together yet. I breathed the BIGGEST sigh of relief when they said that, hopefully Colleen realises Matt is the worst and gets out of there before they end up living together because she will be trapped.

Matt got off WAY too easy. I thought it was so irresponsible Nick and Vanessa didn’t call Matt out at all on his behavior. Colleen looked terrified when they showed the clip of her and Cole at the pool. I don’t even like Cole but I felt for him at the wedding and reunion. I felt like the cast were piling on him. The cast had all that energy for Cole when Bartise was right there!

I agree with Zanab’s speech looking more insecure than anything. I was shocked because they were terrible at communicating with each other and both made mistakes, but she really acted like it was all him. I was so sad that Colleen said yes but afraid of what he would do if she said no. Every time I see him after his first outburst I’m scared.

It's so crazy that Colleen and Matt got to sweep their crazy drama under the rug just because the producers wanted to categorize them all as "succesful couples" and "failed singles". I'd argue Matt ultimately acted the worst out of all of them. They didn't argue with Colleen, he just yelled at her and overall acted like some movie villain. And he downplayed it so much and didn't take accountability.

Every time Bartise expressed his love for Nancy feels like he’s trying to trick himself into believing it

Cole being surprised that Zanab only ate a banana and peanut butter all day especially after offering her something to eat and she declining led me to believe that Cole convincing Zanab to eat a salad could have been him trying to get her to eat something rather than him controlling what she was eating. But we’ll never know because there’s no footage to get the context. After that cutie incident it’s all about context with these 2.

Zanab's speech read as she was trying to validate her own decision by listing all of Cole's flaws, while Deepti's speech read as her trying to free herself and make a decision reflecting not off of Shake's flaws, but of Deepti's own needs as a woman. That's true empowerment.

Matt 10/10 I could see physically abusing. I already believe he mentally abuses her already as she look terrified and would avoid eye contact during the pool scene. Even on 90 day fiancé fights that the couples are actually cheating and caught in the act they don’t look as terrified as Colleen does. I think anyone who has had an abusive partner knows exactly who Matt is and what colleen is going through.

When Zaynab was going off on Cole at the alter I was like why is she saying this in front of the love ones and not privately. The friends clapping felt calculated & rude

Raven went from the most annoying basic girl to my most liked person on the show. I agree that this was probably just the he editing but I have grown to love her for how she’s standing up for herself but also being open minded to SK’s feelings. I am genuinely happy that are dating and they saved the season for me ❤

If ANYONE on this production cares about their participants, I hope they checked in with Colleen after the reunion and made sure she was okay because I agree something just feels off. Like just please make sure that she's actually safe in this relationship and give her like some resources about leaving if she ever feels like she is unsafe.

YES! Honestly, Matt should’ve been pulled off the show or should’ve received a more intense psych evaluation. There’s so many flags from his mother down to how he’s so combative. I wouldn’t be surprised if in a years time we find out that he’s put his hands on her. I wonder if that’s why Colleen won’t move into his flat. I would love to hear what Colleens flatmate thinks about the whole thing.

I'm honestly so mad at the producers for not adressing the Matt problem, not even once, and not at the reunion. It should be said at some point that he's a walking red flag and this looks like an abusive relationship. I was screaming at the TV like why is no one telling something ? Why are they not adressing his huge mood swings ? They focused more on Bartise and Cole, who are dumbasses, yes, but they are not dangerous. Matt is DANGEROUS and this should be adressed, I can't believe this relationship is shown as normal and a success on TV.

I haven't finished the vid yet but bruh, Cole asking Zenab if she's bipolar like it's an insult actually pisses me off so much. I'm bipolar and it's infuriating how people seem to think that's a personality flaw instead of, you know, a mental health disorder. You wouldn't go up to someone panting after a marathon and go "oh, you have asthma? I bet you have asthma" like it's an insult.

This show needs to be hosted and structured by couples therapists. The couples should receive individual and couples therapy the entire duration of the show and after the show. They keep saying that they want to prove that love is blind but the pods and vacations are not nearly enough. If you want love to thrive, it has to be supported.

What surprised me about nancy is that she felt blindsided by bartise saying no. I was just as blindsided by Zanab as Cole was, to be honest. I was never a big fan of Cole. He always kind of made me cringe, but he is also very childlike and I think there are so few people in the world who are able to be that open and silly, that I, in a strange way, appreciated his playfulness (when it wasn't totally immature and disrespectful). However, I also thought that Zanab was a nice girl who just had some control issues. She did seem genuine to me when she insisted that she loved Cole and I thought I knew where she was coming from. Then, at the wedding, I was totally shocked. I thought one of them might say no because they have so many problems, and it's clear that they did rub each other the wrong way and hurt each other a few times throughout the process, but I never expected her to turn on him and humiliate him like she did. I thought it was so out of line. That could've and SHOULD'VE been a conversation they had privately. Especially when it comes to what she said at the reunion about him policing her food. Why the hell did she not bring that up in conversation with him? Why did she WAIT until he was exposed in front of family and friends during the wedding and in front of everyone at the reunion to bring up MAJOR problems she was having with him??? I also think the editing did us WAY dirty. I would be so curious to see what their interactions were actually like and how much he was ACTUALLY immature and making her feel insecure versus how much she was ACTUALLY so controlling and nit-picky with him. Also, the reunion episode was just terrible in general. There was no reason for them all to gang up on Cole the way they did. They all did shitty things but for some reason it became the "bully Cole" party. Imo, if they really had to bully someone, it should've been Bartise.

People are completely glossing over the fact that he disrespected her consistently and belittled her when she tried to address his comments. Yes Zenab was condescending and insecure but him making it clear he wasn't attracted to her obviously wasn't going to help things. I've even seen people claim she abused him and I'm like ??? did we all watch the same show??

My ex was just like matt so him exploding at Colleen was a huge trigger for me. BUT it has been SOOOOOOOOOOOOO validating to hear other people saying how scary he seems. I hope she leaves that marriage but I'm at least glad that other people watching this can tell this behavior is not normal. There are so many things I want to say but struggle to articulate about the couples and this hellscape of a show, but man. Matt? Scares the absolute crap outta me. I thought it was odd that SK expected Raven to move to California for 2 years while he does his masters. Specially after saying so many times that he wants a non traditional wife… that just didn’t add up for me. I also felt he could have been more supportive with the whole her family not wanting to be at the wedding thing. We don’t know the full story but it seems like she’s not close with her family and it hurts her so I wish he would have stood up for her in terms of this since its something she cannot control.

I think Zanab misinterpreted a lot, which explains her wedding speech and the applause/response to it. I think she really did think Cole wanted her skinnier, as evident by who he preferred (Colleen), but I don’t think he ever outwardly forced her not eat (behaviors like when he was sharing her berries was probably interpreted as “lemme help you not eat all of this” instead of “I just want to share some berries with you.”). I think she forced herself to cut her calories to match what she thought he wanted, leading to malnutrition, irritability, and cognitive impairment, because based from “the cuties” clip, he really did want her to eat. Idk, just my take🤷🏽‍♀️

I 100% agree with you about Zanab's wedding speech, Cole DID need to be called out but not in front of all his friends and family. I'm convinced it was premeditated on her part and she was trying to humiliate him. I really think she is more manipulative than you are saying, though. The way she was saying "I forgive you Cole" blah blah at the reunion was so off-putting, like she was framing him as the villain and then trying to make herself into"the bigger person." Not excusing Zanab because it's clear she is incredibly insecure and needs to grow, but I've had experiences with people like Cole before in which they say the worst things and then play it off as a joke. Like making subtle jabs at my insecurities and looks and then when confronted about it, they just act like a kid and it makes you feel exhausted. You end up giving up even explaining why they're being hurtful because they're "too immature/innocent/childish" to understand. It's almost like they're hiding behind their childish demeanor to avoid consequences, and people tend to not hold them accountable and chalk it up to "he's just immature, he'll grow up eventually". It's really frustrating, and if the other person doesn't know that they're immature (which I feel zanab may have not known this, even tho it was obvious), they would just take those comments personally. I know Cole was dragged the entire show, but I feel like I see alot of people excusing his actions for his immaturity, as if there's no chance he said those things intentionally. For all we know, he could've weaponized this behavior to get away with all his actions. At the end of the day, he's a grown ass man, he should know the weight of the things he's done.

Raven and SK had a mature love, I am happy they still are together. Cole is very immature, but Zanab is very controlling, I was on her side until the reunion, there was something off about it, but maybe it’s editing. And Matt scares me and I hope Colleen is okay. What Kennie said about Zanab having to grow up quickly is true. Zanab said it herself in episode 1 or 2 when she spoke about the death of hr dad when she was 13 and how it forced her into growing up quickly so her teenage years were her grieving years. Perhaps that's why she also was more impatient with Cole. I, too, would lose my mind if I dated someone as childish as Cole. Different strokes for different folks 🤣

I haven't watched the show for myself but every time I see clips about Cole, I can't help but feel like he has ADHD. He shows a lot of symptoms (childish, impulsive, not self-aware, messy, blurts things out, doesn't think about consequences of his actions, etc) and, as someone with ADHD, I relate to a lot of his actions. It doesn't excuse what he's done or said, but I feel like he should at the very least get tested.

God, that fear of guys like Matt is so real. I lived with a dude like that as a roommate, a really sensitive guy who was BADLY hurt early on and has subsisted on the blood pouring from that wound ever since, and they're scarier than narcissists to me. In their mind, the pain they were put through justifies anything they could do in the future and guarantees them permanent victim status even when they've fully moved on to hurting others.

Seriously SK is the most down to earth and mentally healthy person on the show. Raven had her odd moments but I felt she was the same among the females. That made him and Raven weirdly the couple I was rooting for. I'm glad he articulated to her what he wanted in THEIR relationship.

Yeah, I am happy that SK & Raven are still together. They had some bumps but their relationship feels the most organic and real.

I think the problem with the reunion is that the girls are in respectful friendships with boundaries situation. When your friend is still in denial and defensive over her ex you can't go in on him compared to a friend who is ready to confront her ex. That's why they were quite with Barstool and Matt but where very 'harsh' on Cole. Zanab gave the greenlight but Nancy was still defending. And ofcourse Colleen is still in the trenches.

As a neurodivergent girlie, Cole came off to me as a person with untreated/undiagnosed ADHD. I could 100% be projecting, but I think it’d be worth him getting that checked out.

honestly matt and colleen remind me of my sister and her ex. he was extremely abusive to her both mentally and physically and he sounds/acts EXACTLY how matt does to the point where it sent shivers down my spine. not only that but colleen has the same demeanour my sister did, especially when her ex would yell at her and she’d just sheepishly try to get it over with?? honestly feel really scared for colleen, ik how hard it is to escape partners like that even when you have good friends and family because everyone in my sisters life tried to break her and her ex off for years.

I'm chronically independent so I've taught myself, when people do try to do things for me especially things I like to do or am good at like cooking, to instead of butting in and taking over because they're "doing it wrong" to ask from the beginning "do you want help or do you want to do it by yourself?" and then if they say yes to clarify that with asking things like if they want my recipe, if they want help with chopping, if they want help doing an especially hard part, or evaluating whether the food is finished.

I also wonder how much influence production has because SK clearly knew within the first few days he wasn’t ready to marry her. There was no need to go that far but I’m happy they’re dating now.

well I think Nancy's brother was mad that he knew Bartise was going to say no, like, he could probably tell since he first met him but Bartise still had to drag his sister out to a wedding an embarrass her in front of everyone. I feel like there has to be some sort or agreement that if you accept someone's proposal there has to be a wedding no matter what.

I really liked your take on the whole Zanab and Cole analysis! I was scrolling thru the twitter tag and people instantly forgot everything Cole did to her, making Zanab the villain. Both were in the wrong and were not a good match for each other.

The only thing I would want from this show is an episode of Nancy’s brothers beating up Barstool. Other than that, I think they can wrap up this experiment since these men are proving that love is NOT blind.

All in all, I think your review was fairly temperate in your judgements of everyone. They definitely need more self awareness. I wish they played the 'cuties' interaction in front of Zanab. I often think about how much editing influences the way we view the couple's interactions. Nancy might be too nice for her own good. Very surprised that Matt and Colleen got married/is still married- I'm glad you mentioned how they totally swept Matt's behavior under the rug. I wish Andrew came on, I needed more moments of levity; he's unintentionally hilarious.

I think Cole using Zaynab’s name like a slur and then admitting that she’s not attracted to her had a lot of racist micro aggressions in it and I think while she does have some insecurities as we all do, that set it up for her to try n please and be like “I’m the good minority woman for u” and like racism in a relationship is really mentally draining and causes lots of insecurities on its own.

I wonder if any of the contestants will sue the producers/Netflix for emotional damages after their NDA expires. I would not be surprised if that happens.

Alexa was definitely my favorite throughout the entire season, and her and Brennon calling the men out for their shitty behavior in the reunion episode gave me LIFE. They match each other’s energy so well. As a Jewish person it was also very sweet to see a Jewish wedding ceremony on the show. Mazel tov to them.

I hate how the internet completely flipped on Cole and Zanab and are diagnosing her as a abusive narcissist, when she’s just super insecure and passive aggressive. Zanab definitely had her insecurities before getting in the relationship with Cole and him being immature and making insensitive comments made it worse.
