Nikolai Grishanovich succumbed to hiv in 1993 of the same strain on hiv as killed Kenny (you may be unaware that there are several distinct strains of the virus). Kenny was also reportedly a fairly regular visitor to the Coleherne pub (now has a new name) which was at the time at the heart of the leather scene in London. You couldn’t behave that way in 80s/90s London without a huge degree of risk. I don’t know what your issue with Freddie Mercury is, but as you can’t speak factually, maybe you should just keep your bile to yourself. Just as Mercury was a master at his art, Kenny was technically brilliant and in a field of his own, multitracked vocals, and even more subtle tricks like “the lying lyric” from his later capital gold shows illustrate what a fantastically talented and completely underrated broadcaster this man was, and how much poorer the British broadcasting industry is for his loss.

pigknickers Yes I remember it was open so you could see into the club as you descended. There was another club even more 'trendy', can't remember the name but the dance floor was surrounded by levels of black leather, used to see him there, it will come to me lol. AND Heaven when it was one big room, used to see Freddie AND Kenny there all the time, I worked at Bangs on a Monday night too, every one there in the 'Hush Room' Now am a granny but got my memories ;)

Captain Kremmen was the highlight of my week back then.

@DANNY DIRE hahaa :-) thanks for the comment Danny - I miss the 80s a bit and Kenny is a big part of that for me. I remember my dad almost choking laughing when Kenny did the Rod Stewart sketch and his bum gets bigger and bigger as the song goes on. I was about 8 or 9 years old I think and absolutely hysterical laughing :-) Nice talking to you Sir- merry christmas.

They were probably Gay themselves, that seemed to be the theme back then. Nail somebody else up in order to protect yourself. Remember that Kenny was married to a Woman and yet was probably not Bi, it was just common practice to protect oneself against the homophobic majority. Whether right or wrong is open to discussion, but it was just the way it was.
