Encino won the Grade 3 Lexington Stakes at Keeneland on Saturday, April 13, 2024. That was the final #kyderby 2024 points race (20-10-6-4-2). The Kentucky Derby is less than two weeks away on Saturday, May 4, and horses are starting to make their way to Churchill Downs. They are preparing for final works and the post position draw will be held on Saturday, April 27.

I'm leaning towards Fierceness as my top selection. With that 110 BSF towering over the field. I envision him winning in the style of War Emblen in 2002. Nobody thought War Emblem was for real either coming in with that 109 out of the Illinois Derby.

Your losing If you put Overated Fierceness in your picks He's not going to win the Derby or even hit the board Jekyll and Hyde horse Stay away from that kind of horse he's Another Forte Save your money people Trust me Don't like the horse one bit Just a touch n Sierra Leone n Catching freedom best 3 horses add Encino also. Longshots West Saratoga Just Steel Domestic product. Fierceness just pretend he's not in the race He's got more bad races than good N his last race was a weak field.But I warned you that's all I can do

I am always excited when a good closer is in the race, this year there are two - Sierra Leone and the one ridden by Flavian Prat, who finished in the money five times in the last 7 Kentucky Derby' s.If I decide to play trifecta or superfecta, my longshot will be Rosario.

Sierra Leone and Catching Freedom should be finishing best of all. You are right about Prat. His Derby mounts always seem to be in the mix.

Enjoyed the video. I'll give Just a Touch further consideration. I see Catching Freedom being more likely to win though. Can you see a scenario in which Fierceness has everything go his way, opens up at the top of the stretch, and still gets run down by Sierra Leone?

If they go overboard on Fierceness, the odds on the other horses will be inflated.

me biggest concern is if fierceness gets a bad trip, he won’t recover. not in this field. everything has to go right for this horse.

You are right. He needs everything to go right. If it does, he might put on a show, If it does not, he will probably fold and finish up the track.

Honor Marie is the closest to Secretariat in pedigree (as best I can tell) and runs the "Big Red" style. He is polite, lets everybody go first, circles the field, takes the lead, and wins!!! Go Honor Marie!!!...He is in post position #7!!!

Honor Marie likes Churchill Downs and exits a good runner-up finish in the LA Derby. The 1 1/4 distance won't bother him and he can get involved late if the pace heats up.

Sorry man,he won't win look at history and check how many Lexington winners have won the Derby even if he's a tremendous horse three weeks rest and going against these behemoths!

Fierceness has the best speed ratings but has yet to run two alike. If he runs as fast as he did in the Florida Derby, he will probably win.

Watch the Holy Bull again, both Hades and Domestic Product were just better. In deeper here. I'll catch your Pletcher next Sat.

The Holy Bull was an odd race with no pace, and it produced a fluky result. Hades proved that point when he was dusted by Fierceness in the Florida Derby. Fierceness is clearly the fastest horse overall and is more than capable of winning the Derby on his best day, but he needs everything to go perfectly. He has yet to run two alike and is hard to trust. Sierra Leone is more reliable and that is why I made him my most likely Derby winner.
