I still remember my mom used to send me to the plot of land, a green oasis in the middle of the city, next to my apartment. But the problem was there was a "pagal mali." We, us kids were really scared of the Gardener, who used to throw stones at anyone who entered the compound (cause we stole mango and amla). So it was like a Bond mission getting the leaves. Then in the end, the gift was the patharade rolls, fried in ghee and a sprinkle of mustard seeds, for the next few days with tea
