INGREDIENTS
any oil of choice
1 teaspoon (3g) minced garlic
3 tablespoons (10g) minced onion
1.1 pounds (500g) ground beef
1 tablespoon (13g) granulated erythritol
salt and pepper to taste
¼ cup (40g) diced bell peppers
1 ½ cups (150g) blanched almond flour
½ cup (55g) vital wheat gluten amzn.to/3vZtofI
pinch of salt
1 ½ tablespoons (23mL) olive oil
100mL water
egg wash for baking (optional)
Oil for frying
Method 1: Bake at 325°F (163°C) for 30-40 minutes until golden brown.
Method 2: Deep fry in medium heat until golden brown.
Yields 13 servings (macros per serving without the filling)
NET CARBS: 1.5g
FIBER: 3.3g
PROTEIN: 6.3g
FAT: 8.3g
CALORIES: 107

Had to try this yesterday and it came out perfect. Added some chili powder to my ground meat. I tried both method and it was both delicious. I can’t even tell the difference between fried and baked but my kids prefer the fried ones. It’s puffy and indeed crispy. Thank you for this! It will be a regular in our household.

Traditional empanada fillings often have sweet ingredients like honey, apples, raisins, or other dried fruits, or fruit juices. Sweet seasonings for beef are actually quite common in South American cuisine.

Wow! I can't wait to try these. They look SO good! And as a Caribbean American from South Florida (super Caribbean culture) I'm thinking of adding turmeric and making jamaican beef patties! Yum! I could also see gooey dessert filling coming out as you broke that open. I was thinking apple but to keep it keto.... strawberries or strawberries and cream cheese! That crispiness was everything! I’m thinking more fillings: sautéed mushroom with thyme and shallots or potato/feta cheese/scallions or beef/tomato/basil or apricot in small pieces cooked with replacement sugar and pistachios, or mixed berries cooked down with replacement sugar and hazelnuts or apples cooked down with replacement sugar and cinnamon and a few raisins… in France they’re called Chaussons and my grandmother used to make many versions. Congratulations on yet another wonderful recipe. I made cauliflower samosas with the dough and they were very delicious with great texture. I will definitely revisit this recipe the next time I make keto patties. Also, I made a few tester gnocchi with some of the leftover dough with good results. The dough did not fall apart when boiled! 🤗

Oh my gosh sweety u sease to amaze me lol I love empanadas but couldn't have them I can make these now!! Looks soo delicious 😋 I wonder could it be possible to use this dough for a dessert empanadas filled with pumpkin. That's the Mexican version and with other fruits. Even beans and cheese as well. Those look great! They look a lot like the perogi my family makes at Christmas. I am not a fan of almond flour though, no matter how much I process it, when baked it is still very grainy. That being said, you could do this with a sauerkraut filling or a cheese filling. There is also fruit filling too! OMG I will have to try it. You did it again! Thank you.

If you are not allergic to peanuts you could substitute Lupin flour. The carb content will also be low but it's on the pricey side good luck.

I would love to try each and every of your recipes bcs they make a lot of sense and look delicious, but , unfortunately, cannot consume more than 4-5 g of erythritol a day (not more than 30 g of carbs a day) and do not consume dairy at all...it is a pleasure to watch your videos! I already used vwg so no need to use psyllium. Also psyllium will make your empanadas goeey and will give the bread like texture.

You can use lard, ghee or a heat stable oil. Not sunflower oil or any other seed oil.

Hi @ketoserts , couldn’t resist and made those right away . Sadly the dough separated when rolled out . Spent half day to pinch it together. Measured the ingredients exactly by weight and not cups , followed religiously but the dough separating part was so frustrating. Can u please guide 🙏

There are two different ways of doing this. Method 1 is baked. Method 2 is deep fried. See the instructions. 😉
