I have tried many different extreme diets(fruitarian, keto) and so when we go one extreme we cut out nutrients or vitamins like in this case with keto essential minerals. I experienced lots of energy on fruitarian but loss muscle and quickly got bored of just fruit after 17 days. I too experienced dehydration on keto. I've learned from both that a healthy balance of all "whole foods" not to be confused with processed garbage... be it grass fed meat, fish, nuts ,seeds, vegetables, root vegs,fruit, whole non processed 1 word grain(rice, quinoa) beans or lentils we don't throw our body out one way or the other and miss out on "any" nutrient we need. Your body is telling you on this extreme keto something is wrong. Quickly cured by eating a variety of foods.

Excellent advice! I'm discovering same imbalances after trying a variety of diets/lifestyle changes. Thank you. Your comments are very encouraging. Extreme either way is not good for our bodies; a good balance is critical for optimal health. I'm sticking to a "balanced" approach from here on in. By the way, your comment is also well written. I put about a fourth of a teaspoon under my tongue and that is crazy how I’m no longer dying of thirst!! Thank you so much for this video! Great Video Thomas! I'm curious as to what you think a ketogenic diet is doing to a persons mineral balancing for their hair mineral test? I'm guessing more fat and less carbs in general would increase calcium, magnesium and potassium in the cell, and decrease sodium? Curious to hear your thoughts.

Eating only meat products will throw you into ketosis for sure. Why don't you start with that and then work your way back into a Paleo keto diet? As you reintroduced things one-by-one back into your diet, you'll know if it's going to take you out of ketosis and then you can pinpoint the culprit to boot from your diet completely

This was so informative! Thanks for addressing this and explaining how weight returns so quickly after a typical carb cheat in the form of water retention. I was experiencing extremely dry mouth and wondered why. Even though I thought I was getting enough salt by salting my drinks and food, I wasn’t aware of the number of milligrams necessary and how the sodium gets processed so differently when the body is in ketosis. Awesome video!

I was was lead to do all of this (my diet) because of an automimmune disease... NOW ITS MY PASSION! My life is changed, and not only just me could use this... everyone could use this, or something better! As of now, I am doing my first fast, inspired by you! How I came across this video, is because I started to sweat purpusly, and get lite headed during my first fast. My fast is suprisingly doing the unthinkable... it is bringing up alot of emotions and past things.. It's crazy how the gut really is connected to your emotions, how you feel..and everything! That's why its so important to have a plan for healthy eating. To listen to yourself, but to also let go of the pressure, at the same time. But anyways, when this started coming on during my fast, I was sweating, and I had this sense of jolting, anxiety - like energy... and I heard that you are supposed to get colder from the research i did before my fast. So, I got concerned, and started some research again, which is what lead me to this specific video. What's mind blowing is that I still didnt get an answer... but that wouldnt be the first time that happened to me so- what do I do? I listen to my intuition like i did for everything else... Like I did before every other option that only seemed to sugar coat, dismiss, and cover up my problems... and EMOTIONS. (I cured myself without a single doctor from most symptoms and flare ups of my autoimmune IBD..) But at this point, I realized that my intuition says that I am sweating from my fast because my body is just doing what it needs to do, the best way It knows how to do it... and that I don't need to compare it to everyone else, because everyone is different, as I learned... but also the same- in a way. We just need to take care of ourselves, and nothing else. The best that we can, is all that we can do. But if you aren't doing that, then well... You will know- whether it is conscious, or subconscious by the guilt, judgement, and the way your body feels. Our bodies know what we need.. (mine maybe a bit too much! lol) but when we REALLY take awareness, action, dedication, and motivation... and not just going outside of ourselves for what we think we need ...then MAGIC HAPPENS. So btw, I swallowed a little sorbitol one day (barley any) from my mouthwash and I had a flare up... which indicated to me that the disease is still there even after my diet, manifesting and spirituality/holistic healing and trace mineral drops. ( i always got dehydrated easier.. I would go to the hospital at least three times a month from being so sick to the point that it's almost irreversible without an IV) Anyways, I was happy, and grateful for the fact that now I did not have symptoms (most of the time) anymore, besides when I accidentally had something I was not supposed to, or when I was just sensitive to sunlight, energy, or something like that. Sometimes I didn't really know, and at the time- that frustrated me. But today, it all just HIT me at once. At first, I was worried about the disease trying to figure it out..and here I am now, 10000 steps forward, and STILL upset that the disease was still there .... and trying to figure it. How could I do that without me? Its okay to figure it out with acceptance and knowing... Which is what lead me to try other things with my diet including occasional fasting! You just can't give up, but yet, you have to accept and trust at the same time. You have to keep going. Your mind is linked to your body, just like your body is linked to your brain. I'm breaking though all the demons caused by and before the disease , from conditioning, personal pain, and experiences.. "This is how it is" lead me to believe that "this is how I am..." and "This is how i fix me". "This is what I need." But the truth is, sometimes, we dont even know what we need in the moment. This feeling just never left me... Even when I thought those emotions did, I didn't not have symptoms, and everything was okay, .... I would still keep coming back to this feeling. I noticed it was when things went bad, and it brought up these emotions of not knowing what to do to make my own self feel better. Other things would trigger it too. The only way to discribe it is a loss of control of my body... beyond my actions. But what I did not realize before...was the power of just awareness itself, acceptance, and trust.. Thats it. As soon as something would happen, I would go in this DEFENSE AND SURVIVAL MODE. So at that point, its not only my body doing this (immune system)...but it was now my mind as well. ( maybe it always was) But my point here is, that from experience... Intuition is linked to the gut! Mind is linked to the body! The mind can apply to the healing of the rest of you by your will, (what you want)...which is already there, and you already know what to do.... by allowing the mind to just observe, like it knows how to do. The want that I already have, is enough for me to recieve what I need. To be in touch with my body is enough. I will do what I really want (not what I NEED to have) from what is, and what I really need, and that- is beyond me. Acceptance is real and it IS. If it is, then I can ... but if its not, and I don't have myself, then it isn't, and now here comes the need to identify, control, or make better. It's my right that I always knew I had... that's why there was so much BURNING PASSION. But by releasing my minds need to have what I want, and into my heart's desire for what I really want, (to be open, willing and available) In exchange for what i think I need... Is how I get what I want. What I want, is not always what is. What I want is not always me, but it always is me underneath.. which makes it WITHIN. It will be, because it is. That's my thing! Keep doing what you are doing.. it is so helpful and inspiring! especially for people like me! No matter how much water I drank I was dehydrated. I felt dying for the last 2 days until I started to eat carbs and drink electrolytes and I started feeling better. Carbs are back now but still with no added sugar and fruits diet so I don't know if this mild thirst is still part of it. Do you still have thirst problem? I read somewhere that after doing keto your body gets fat adopted meaning that it changes it preferable energy source from carbs to fats. Maybe your body still burning fats despite eating carbs. It will take time for your body to shift back to carbs. That is why it is important to eat carbs once in a while during keto to keep your cells active in both carb and fat burning mechanism.

@tonya2817
@tonya2817 Жыл бұрын
What I understand is happening is although you are peeing, that's just because your kidneys are on standby ready to release what you've drunk. Because there are no carbs or very little there it isn't going to want to hold on to much. So that means we need to keep on drinking and drink more so that we can keep up with what the liver and kidney needs. We have to also get enough to upkeep with lipolysis, which requires hydrolysis, which requires a lot of water. I think it makes more sense to go off of how you feel with your water intake because sure you may be hydrated for that moment when your urine is clear, however what about in the next 3 hours? You can easily get dehydrated again. It's probably safer to just go ahead and drink.

That, unfortunately, is something you would have to consult with a health care professional. Every person is different and we can't know everyone's individual needs.

And what pisses me off is sparkling water for a time had high sodim for taste. Perfect for keto. All these karen natzis complained and now most sparkling water has no sodium. Im MUCH sicker on keto since dasni discontinued their high sodium sparkling water line. Bubly sucks!

These diets often claim that they are historically more accurate to the human diet, however, I can’t imagine the cavemen taking mineral supplements! They didn’t walk around with water bottles and salt was rare.

What, Bacon is bad for you? I thought it was natures perfect food. Bacon even makes salad taste better, "EVEN SALAD"

Fat also hydrates the body. For every 100g of fat the body wins 110ml of water.

Why does insulin tell the kidneys to hold onto water? Anyone?

Insulin uses WhatsApp. They connect via wifi. When they don't communicate you have to reset your router to reset the connection.

I dont like the saltiness of bacon :) i buy 75% reduced salt bacon. Tastes better and gets rid of so much of that crappy quality salt.

Dude, sodium is sodium, that does not matter when eating bacon... Bacon contains lots of sodium, saying that it is "bad sodium" does not matter... Just beacuse it does not contain magnesium, calcium or other salts does not mean it is bad "sodium" because they are NOT sodium... And the pink salts barely contains any other minerals other than sodium so just take a mineral supplement instead. This is pure broscience to the max lol

Meats and processed foods are often cured with added salts and sodium preservatives. Are they bad? In excessively high amounts they can be even fatal. On a microscopic level who knows what’s going on. They’re not natural and that should be enough to deter anyone. I do agree with you about the Himalayan salt I can’t swear by it but I do take it in the mornings I wouldn’t say there’s this huge noticeable difference but at least I could be replenishing something I lose during a workout

I lost a huge amount of water and suffered severe dehydration symptoms. It took me months to be able to drink water without feeling nauseous. More months later I still have muscle weakness..... My body doesn't exactly like accepting water or electrolytes back...

Thank you so much for this explanation! I’ve gone back to Keto about 8 weeks ago, I’m feeling amazing, but my thirst definitely went up and at times I feel like I just can’t rehydrate no matter how much I drink. I take magnesium and potassium citrate and now add electrolytes to my water, and do add the odd pinch of Himalayan salt here and there, but now I understand the importance of having it in the morning and what levels I need. 🩷🩷🩷
