I'm Bill, and I think you guys rock. I'm 58 years old, 6'4" tall,and have been doing some form of Keto for about a year. I started at 374 pounds , but as of today have lost 152 pounds. Cleared up my type 2 diabetes, lymphoma, and lowered my high blood pressure. Thank you for your videos. They've helped with my new lifestyle and realize I can eat what I refer to as normal now. I watch the issues you experience and see myself having a lot of the same issues. I look forward to reading your book. Please keep going. You inspire many of us trying to get healthy.

I’ve been doing keto for three and a half years now, and I second that it is a lifestyle and not a diet. Every time I think “that’s it, I’m bored, I want (insert carby food here), I’m quitting” I think of steak and butter and bacon, being able to breath easier and having a flatter tummy. Because every time I eat carbs I get short of breath by the end of the day, and I get bloated. And then I think “I can never give up being keto, it’s a way of life now”.

Spot on about people not wanting you to get thinner
@BackToBasics509
@BackToBasics509 3 жыл бұрын
I think it goes bound just being thinner. For some weight comes hand in hand with depression, low self-esteem/self-confidence and self-isolation. Some “friends” you might have around you may “like” this side of you either bc you’re more dependent of them for moral/emotional support or it just gives them an ego boost. So you going “thinner” will eliminate those problems that may make you dependent on them and in a sense, they may fear that you shedding weight is shedding them.

I’m 66 also and was starting to be successful on keto when I got covid. I think it messed up my metabolism. I’m not giving up. I’ve been pretty disciplined. I’m going to add in more exercise and see if that doesn’t motivate the weight loss. My husband and I are intermittent fasting and doing two meals a day. Maybe we need to do OMAD. I strongly believe that the reason we sailed through covid was because of eating keto.

Two words from my Orthopedist in May of 2021: "You're doomed". Yes, that's what he said after he looked at the X-ray of my right hip. He started talking about gastric bypass and consulting with a weight clinic. I told him I'd see him in 3 months and that I'd work it myself. When I was a kid growing up in the 60s/70s I was a wrestler. At the time, I didn't realize it, but my mom had me on a keto regimen. She called it a boxer's diet. I knew if I applied the principals of keto (it's all about the biochemistry), I'd be back in the zone. So, now it's November 9. 2021 and I'm down 56.2 lbs. and not looking back. I've got another 70 to go, but it's been a nice gradual loss and I'm over the carbs. I feel so much better and all my metabolic numbers are incredible. It's never too late. Both of you are inspiring. Thanks for sharing your story!

@@LeEgzabhierKiber Wishing you the best on your journey. Do yourself one favor however and watch Thomas Delauer's videos on varying fast starts and stops because with caloric deficit creates conditions and our bodies will adjust, causing us to "need" even lower intake. I cannot remember tge term but essentially with the same continuous schedule the body will adapt making it even harder to lose weight. When you vary your fasting period say every few weeks, it tricks the body out of reading your rhythm. Switching it up is like a quarterback sneak ant it tricks your metabolism into not adapting. Again, best wishes!

Hi ladies, thanks so much for your great tips. I’m 71 and have been practicing a fairly strict keto diet for 5 months but have only lost 36 lbs. So I’m averaging around 7 lbs a month. I was getting frustrated because everywhere I look people loose twice that amount or more in the same amount of time. After listening to you I’m just going to stay the coarse. I’m sedentary due to a handicap so I think for me this must be a good weight loss rate. Again, thank you for your inspiration.

I do not miss the carbs... just the flavors of various foods.. but with watching youtube channels (like this one) I am finding ways to beable to enjoy the flavors and not need the carbs!!! Now I have a new "hobby" .. trying new recipes and amazing myself with how much I am enjoying eating!

I agree with your comment about not announcing to the world that you were going keto. In my case, I was really surprised at the people who went out of their way to sabotage my success. Additionally, I was a bit surprised when these same people made no comment at all about the slimmer me. I’m 5’1” and went from 132 pounds to 117 lbs in about 8 weeks. I went from a size 10 to a size 4. Most of my adult life I weighed right at 100 pounds, so I’m pretty sure it was noticeable.

It's true...people feel threatened by change. Some are jealous and yes will sabotage you. ✋ The time does fly by when counted in Mondays... 😖Although I am pretty good at it, I hated cooking...I have cooked more in a year and a half...and ENJOYED it...than in my entire life on keto! The dread of the EFFECT of food prepared is now gone. That helps a lot! Yup...Monday I took pics and wrote my measurements on a post it note. 40 pounds down, here I come! I only buy block cheese now...for that very reason. It actually melts better as well! I make my own ice cream, and am learning to get over the creamy, smooth, lovely texture of commercial ice creams. My problem with keto is that after a month of keto and losing very little and keeping my carbs below 20/day my cholesterol went sky high and my LDL and HDL were way out of wack. I did Atkins years ago and kept my carbs at a minimum and lost 67 lbs but also struggled to stay in ketosis. My cholesterol went down to 140. I believe if you don’t stay in ketosis that your cholesterol will go up. So my advice is, check your cholesterol.

@@joannemoin4455 my advice would be to learn that 1) high total cholesterol is not the cause of heart disease, inflammation is, 2) cholesterol will usually go up during weight loss, so its best to not test till your weight has been stable for about 3 months, 3) some people eating low carb, fit, and lean weight will have quite high TC and LDL but not a high risk for heart disease (Lean Mass Hyper-Responders), 4) for more information about all this maybe see Dave Feldman's studies and presentations or Ivor Cummins.

I’m finding that I need a cheat afternoon, it helps me to stop feeling deprived, and if I’m out somewhere I can enjoy the non keto food without guilt. I start again the next morning, this is a weekly ritual. My weight loss is slower, but I do feel better physically on keto, and mentally. Regarding your family, seeing you change before their eyes is rough for them, they love the overweight person you were. As you change physically you also change attitude, you feel more confident, you’re more focused on yourself and your health, and therefore it’s a negative thing for them. They are comfortable with the old you. Don’t engage with them about this, just smile and say how much better you’re feeling, don’t try to convert them. If you don’t bite then you’ve won.

Last month I went to the clinic to take a COVID test. When I got on the scale, the number was the biggest I had ever seen it. 242 lbs. I knew after seeing that number that I needed to hold myself more accountable for what I put into my body. Then I found you guys!! Love your videos!!! I made my first chaffle yesterday (your original recipe) and it was soooo good. Thanks again!!!

You guys are great and the videos are a lot of fun. I've only just found your channel and it's really refreshing to see some honesty about the process. 3yrs ago I started Keto and lost 28kgs (61lbs). But then fell right off that wagon and put it all back on over the last year. So today I started it all again lol. It's good to hear how other people have dealt with the same mistakes.

This wonderful video has helped me understand how I messed up. I am on clean keto. I don't use oil in my cooking and I hardly eat meat. Avocado's and coconut milk are my two fats. I have lost 35pounds in two weeks. I am sure that was water Wright and other things, but I feel amazing. Thank you for your helpful videos.

Making the mistakes are fine but if made every day then you’re killing your gains. So choose 1/2 day a week to indulge just so that you don’t go overboard. Can’t do too much damage in 1/2 day appose to a whole day of indulgence! The struggle is real and we’re all in it together. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I've lost 55 lbs but it took me over a year but I just kept on keeping on. I'm not perfect at watching everything and pasta, bread and potatoes are my downfall, lol. I did find out about how chemically pasta, bread and potatoes can change though through cooking then chilling then reheating. I think that has helped alot!!!! They say it really makes a difference in those products and insulin resistance. Anyways, you are right it's NOT a DIET, it's a LIFESTYLE and yes there's TONS of great tasting food you CAN eat if you learn to make it. I'm a bit lazy on that since I have no kids or husband at home to cook for but I still will cook up hamburgers and chicken in bulk and put them in the freezer. Make soup and freeze it, etc. I keep pork rinds in bulk to grab to snack on and keto crackers. I try to focus on OMAD though too, with minimal snacking but don't Make Yourself CRAZY doing it!!!! I never even weighed myself (no scale) in the beginning and just by being able to fit into smaller clothes as time went on I knew I was losing weight. Just found out this past week how much I've really lost, yay!!!! Just keep on keeping on!!! It took awhile to get all that weight, it takes awhile to lose it. If you're healthier and feel better, that's the important part. The weight WILL come off!!! Do watch what is in food though. You'd be amazed at what you thought was low carb really is not. I guess I'm kind of dirty keto maybe as I try to stay under 50 carbs per day instead of 20. Whatever, it's working and I feel so much better. Getting off of sugar, I think, is a big help. Stevia and all those natural sweeteners (not diet sweeteners) are a God Sent and they taste sweeter too! I don't miss alot of the stuff like brownies and donuts once I just got rid of them from my cupboard and again the natural sweeteners helped alot on that. Just take it easy on yourself if you mess up and then just get right back to doing the keto right away. No one is perfect so cut yourself some slack. Thanks TWINS for all you do to help all of us Keto Krazies out!! You're Awesome! and Awesome recipes too!

One thing I've noticed is condiments are my carb Bermuda triangle I switched to sugarless spice mixes. I've found a sriracha seasoning that I like even better than my beloved rooster sauce which is yikes full of sugar. I'm learning to adapt what I eat from month to month. This month I tried carnivore and it was an epic fail. Because you can only season with some really expensive salt. I couldn't hang plus I felt horrible . Live and learn

4:59 I really like how you said “I ordered this in a restaurant and can make/eat it at home” bc I don’t mind making food at home but I’m still in a early stage of trying out keto where I think “if I go out what can I eat when I’m out” so that I don’t break my habits

I've had to alter my diet drastically a few times. First time was severe food allergies. There's a 4 year regimen to get past food allergies, and that's what I did. It doesn't work for everyone, but it did for me. I was allergic to all kinds of things. Wheat, cow's milk, chicken eggs, soy, peanuts, oats, were the main things, but there was a lot more. I was ok with rice and corn, but basically, I had to learn to cook all over again. Next was diabetes. Self explanatory. Another major change. Then Alphagal, I couldn't have any mammalian meats. I was ok with dairy. Cheese was tricky, it was only ok if it was made with vegetable rennet. I was already easing into keto, but that restriction made it harder. After a few years, I finally tried acupuncture. That worked, I can eat red meat again. After all of that, just following keto, and I'm similar to you gals, I call it keto-ish. I'm more concerned with net carbs than whether it has wheat gluten or whatever. I have my own list of things I don't want to eat, but mostly I'm "dirty lazy keto." I've had some set backs, but overall I've gone from 335 lbs to 265 lbs. I still have a long way to go, but I'm confident that I can do it. Keto is really the only thing that has worked for me. You two are amazing, and a great inspiration. Keep it up, love ya!

Hey! I watched this thinking I wasn’t gonna hear anything new, but I was wrong. I love creamed spinach, and broccoli/cauliflower with cheese sauce. I work in the cheese department in a grocery store and they make a lot of different cheese shreds. I never realized they have more carbs than if I shred it myself, even though I know they put “anticaking” stuff onto keep it from sticking together. I’ve been on a platoe for a couple months (why I watched this video, I’m a subscriber) and since my birthday I’ve gained 5lbs! I ate at Mexican restaurants twice for birthday and thought it was salt but it didn’t vanish and it’s been a week. So I’m gonna start not being lazy and buy brick cheese from now on! Thanks

I totally agree with your idea of not telling anyone. People will either try to sabotage you because they are jealous, or they will watch what you eat in hope of criticizing you - also because they are jealous. I have lost 42 pounds so far but I still have a l-o-n-g way to go. No one except my doctor and one friend know. No one will find out until the end of spring / beginning of summer when (we all hope) we can start going out again and I won't be wearing a bulky jacket. And when people ask how I (or you) lost the weight, the only answer to give is "diet and exercise" with no more details. I don't want to hear a lot of uninformed opinions keto and intermittent fasting.
