Love the comment about not missing anything. I used to eat meat 3x a day (at least) and eggs and dairy almost as much. Even when I went vegetarian I would eat 4 eggs for breakfast almost every day. Really, all of that stuff just seems kind of gross to me now (more for the knowledge of what it is, and the way it makes me feel than the actual taste). Sometimes I'll have a vegan cheese or ice cream, and I do eat fake meat a few times a week probably, but mostly I am enjoying just eating real food for once in my life. Rice and beans is solid and can be delicious. My normal meal planning goes like this: pick a plant protein (usually a legume), pick a vegetable, pick a carb (rice, potatoes, sourdough bread, etc) and I really don't miss animal products in any of that.

I was born in a vegetarian Hindu household and actually went rogue for several years during HS/College. It always made me feel guilty, like a tiny parasite eating away at my sense of self-value. I went back to those values after graduating and it's been fantastic. Respect to anyone who chooses to go their own way and become vegan/vegetarian, whether for ethical reasons or otherwise. It's better for the planet, better for the poor animals that get slaughtered, a cleaner guilt-free way of living your life on this Earth, and overall healthier.

/ swap all your oils for olive oil. Where I live it's super affordable, I know that's not the case everywhere so it's just one way. it inversely correlates with all kinds of negative health outcomes, especially CVD ones, and is proven to reduce some of them (There is no association between olive oil and weight gain, if that's a worry for anyone. People with basic knowledge of nutrition look at the micro/macronutrients and write it off, but there's a lot more to food than that)

Oh please tell me what your LDL Cholesterol was before you went plant based and what it is now? I ask as I went plant based in February 2020- did a blood test to lower my bad LDL cholesterol level of 140. Due to Covid stress it went UP- not down. I’m bummed about that. I am re- testing as I have faith it was just stress. ( my doctor said she personally saw many blood results go wacky due to Covid stress) As I listen you did not seem to realize that our bodies MAKE cholesterol in our livers. Cholesterol plays a very good positive role for our hormones. DIETARY cholesterol is what gets many of us in trouble.

Harley, Your glasses look great on you, very appealing. I think your career will be both successful and way interesting. Kevin, your product is your life. Everything you share with the world, the movies, the podcasts, the directing, the comic books, the KZfaq, the Facebook, all of it is part of your product. However, not everything you do is based on your past work. Red State. Why don't you do something like that again? No, not a sequel. Just the writing exercise where as soon as you can see where it's going you take a sharp left turn and write in that direction instead. With Red State you made a truly unpredictable movie that owed nothing to you previous work. I love everything you've made. And I'm far from alone in this regard. You have a following. Rich, good podcast. I may become a regular viewer.

Not sure what your train of thought is here, but just throwing this out there: Most commercial dog foods (if not all) are using byproducts of the meat industry anyway. In other words, animals aren't being slaughtered for the purpose of making dog food. Using lab meat in pet food will be coming soon. I've heard good things about V-dog and Halo.
