Without legislative action, we would have never ended slavery, lifted senior citizens out of destitute poverty with the social security act, or codified civil and voting rights into law with their corresponding Acts of 1964 and 1965. So unfortunately, no. No, sticking our heads in the sand and focusing only on our immediate and extended family and friends is not the only thing we need to focus on, just a thought.
